At that moment, Saga draws his blade, which is the same blade he acquired at the beginning of the movie. Saying that the sword wants Luffy's blood, Saga attacks Luffy, before the battle is taken outside. As the battle rages on, Usopp brags that he taught Luffy all of his moves, but when Toma seems to believe it, he chickens out. The battle goes in Saga's favor, and when he uses his special attack, Yokazan (a green flame erupting from his sword), Luffy is sent flying off a cliff. In fear of being killed by Saga, Usopp jumps after Luffy, and after a failed parachute attempt, he crashes into the valley below. Back in the village, the Straw Hats are aiding the suffering villagers, with Chopper making medicine and Sanji cooking food, despite his arm being damaged by Zoro. Despite their aid, Izaya urges them to leave the island at once, saying that all lives are important, even pirates. Meanwhile, Usopp has successfully been caught in a tree due to his parachute, and starts looking for Luffy after finding his straw hat. However, he falls into a cave shortly afterwards. Later that night, Zoro brings the orbs to Saga, before throwing them down a well. Despite this, Saga once again collapses, even though it seemed that the orbs were causing him the pain, but Saga tells him that he will be alright. Meanwhile, Usopp finds himself in a large cave, and looks for Luffy. Luckily, he finds him, and hands the straw hat back to him. However, Luffy has stupidly enough activated a trap that sends a giant boulder after them, which Luffy destroys at Usopp's urging. However, he activates another trap that causes a cave-in, nearly killing them. Back at the shrine, Maya is once again praying, but she breaks into tears, and asks Saga (even though he is not there) what she has to do. Inside the tunnels again, Usopp and Luffy activate many traps before finding three peculiar towers. Starving, the duo fall asleep. As morning rises above the dojo, Saga, Zoro, Toma, Bismarck, and Boo Kong are standing in front of many Marine grunts, all trained under Saga's tutelage. Saga promises the Marines an insurmountable power when "the awaited time arrives", and proclaims that laws, order and even gods will not be able to determine good or evil, but power will, claiming it to be true justice. At that moment, he lifts his sword, which he identifies as the Shichiseiken, and proclaims that with their power, they will cut a path to true justice. Everyone in the vicinity roars in agreement, except for Toma, Saga, and Zoro. Saga tells Zoro that on the night of the red moon, his dream will be realized. Later that morning, the Straw Hats (minus Zoro, Luffy, and Usopp) are being served breakfast by Maya, and Sanji's arm has fully recovered. Again, Izaya tells them to leave the island as quickly as possible, but they cannot leave without finding Luffy and Usopp first. When she urges them to leave once they have been found, the Straw Hats question their reasons for doing so. When Izaya deduces that they came to Asuka Island solely for the Shichiseiken, Maya tells them that the sword is not the kind of treasure they think it is. Just then, Robin tells the story of the sword. Apparently, the three princes of Asuka Island beheld a beautiful priestess on the day of the red moon, and all fell in love with her. To make her notice their grace, the three brought forth the Shichiseiken, the royal family's symbol, and all fought for it. The battle spread throughout the entire kingdom, and the blood of the victims soon covered the land and sea. The sword, absorbing the blood and hatred of so many, became cursed, causing massacre and destruction, destroying the Kingdom of Asuka. It is shown that Robin read the story by deciphering some old ruins, which impressed Maya after seeing Robin's skill. However, due to the ruins' deterioration, Robin is unable to read any further. However, Izaya tells the rest of the tale: The sword spread wars as blood begot blood, until the entire region was engulfed in war, and the sea became a world ruled by darkness. However, the very same priestess that had caused the conflict to start took all the hate that was stored in the Shichiseiken, and sacrificed her own life. The princes, now grieving over their loss, vowed to atone for their sins. Then, they were presented with three orbs by the Gods of Asuka's Seven Stars, which sealed the cursed sword's powers. However, once every one hundred years, the Shichiseiken gains enough power to break its seal, once the red moon shines. That was the reason why Maya was praying with the orbs: to purify them and bring them to the three towers in order to perform a ritual that would seal the red moon's power, but thanks to Zoro, that attempt proved futile. Also, the red moon just so happens to shine that night. The Straw Hats learn about Saga and his possession of the Shichiseiken, and of his plan to revive its power, which would have been stopped by the sacred ritual. So, in order to stop the ritual, Saga, who cannot touch the orbs due to the Shichiseiken's influence, had Zoro steal the orbs away. Then, the Straw Hats learn that Zoro and Saga studied under the same dojo when they were children, and during that time, the pair made a promise. It then cuts to a flashback, which shows Zoro, during his pirate hunting days, beating some pirates. The captain pulls out a pair of guns once Zoro decides to leave him, but a voice tells him that Zoro cannot be killed by them, before a stranger beats the pirate with a punch to the gut. Then, the stranger is identified as Saga by Zoro. Saga tells Zoro that like him, he has undertaken a warrior's journey to hone his swordsmanship, and that he would meet Zoro again. Zoro notices the knife Saga carries on his sheath (which is the same knife shown earlier), and Saga acknowledges this, saying that the knife represents their promise. Believing that Zoro had forgotten, Saga reminds him: Zoro would become the greatest swordsman of all time, and Saga would master the sword of justice. Zoro claims that he would never forget, and both laugh together. The flashback goes to a passenger ship, which is being attacked by pirates. Zoro and Saga defend the ship valiantly, but one attack from Zoro causes the mast of the pirate ship to collapse, which in turn lands on the passenger ship, launching the anchor right on Saga. His right arm trapped, Saga can only watch as the gunpowder ignites, and will soon explode. Zoro attempts to save him, but due to his inability to cut steel (at that time), he is unable to do so. Telling Zoro to go to the captain's cabin to get an axe, Zoro tells Saga not to die, before Saga does the same, and as Zoro jumps ship, the gunpowder explodes, seemingly killing Saga. Even though Saga miraculously survived, his right arm became useless, and in despair, he floated all the way to Asuka Island. Robin deduces that Saga is not truly evil, despite the way he is acting. Lacos claims that Saga was lethargic and distant to the villagers, but thanks to Maya, he opened up, and his hope was renewed. Izaya hoped for Maya and Saga to be married, which in turn makes Saga, Maya's fiancé. However, one year ago, the pirate attack which was witnessed at the beginning of the movie took place, and it shows the scene where Saga claims the Shichiseiken, but the scene is extended, showing Maya collapse in shock, before Saga saves her from falling, followed by him laughing maniacally. After that flashback, Izaya tells everyone present that no one is to blame, before Maya says that the power of the cursed sword has been corrupting Saga's mind for a whole year, and that the blade has gathered the Marine swordsmen, in order to feed its own bloodlust by sending the world into darkness. In the caves, Luffy and Usopp have just survived an arrow trap, before Luffy gleefully decides to go into another cave. However, Usopp protests, and leads them into a different cave, which ironically leads to another trap, this consisting of balls made out of rock. After getting through it, the pair come across a stream of water, where Luffy actually finds the three orbs, before accidentally activating yet another trap, this one being a massive water stream that flushes Usopp and Luffy through the caves. On the surface, Nami tries to find out another way to stop the Seven-Star Sword from reviving. However, only one alternative exists: Maya, being the priestess' distant descendant, has to sacrifice her own life. Sanji, however, refuses to believe it, and chastises Izaya for willingly letting Maya kill herself, but Izaya corrects him, saying that she has no intention of letting Maya die. She continues, saying that although their family has been charged with being priestesses for many years, Maya's abilities within the power of prayer are extraordinary, and none have ever had as pure of abilities as her. So, by using her prayer, a ritual can nonetheless be performed to stop the Shichiseiken's revival. As Maya accepts this fact, an earthquake occurs. However, what they thought to be a precursor to the revival of the Shichiseiken was in reality a massive spurt of water, carrying Luffy and Usopp out into broad daylight at long last. After the pair introduce themselves to Maya, Izaya, and Lacos, Nami asks them what they have been doing. After Usopp explains their trek in the caves, she shoves it off as adventuring, much to the frustration of Luffy and Usopp. As the sun sets, the others learn of Luffy's battle against Saga, while Luffy learns of Zoro's "betrayal", and Usopp confirms that Saga is indeed the wielder of the Shichiseiken. However, Usopp is still in disbelief that Maya is going to sacrifice herself, and the fact that Sanji supports her decision. However, Luffy prepares to leave, in order to beat Saga, which Izaya says is futile, as Luffy cannot even scratch the blade. However, Luffy proclaims that they will not know if beating him will work unless they try. Despite this, Maya is more than willing to sacrifice herself, even though she is afraid of dying. She decides to do so in order to save Saga, like he did one year ago when he claimed the Shichiseiken. Deciding to cheer Maya up, Luffy reveals the orbs, much to everyone's (save Usopp's) surprise, especially Izaya, whose hunched back suddenly extends into a massively long body. Learning where Luffy found them, she wonders why they were in the cave to begin with. However, even though the ritual can be performed, it is far too risky due to Saga's forces. Despite this, Luffy tells Maya that if she believes in Saga, then she should completely trust him, and that no one can decide her fate except for herself. With this, the Straw Hats decide to aid Maya in her mission, as they will use the orbs despite all odds. Zoro giving his final slash to free Saga. Zoro giving his final slash to free Saga. After Luffy asks what needs to be done, Izaya says that the orbs need to be taken to the three towers, called Komon, Tonroh, and Hagun, and then, a barrier can be erected, which will stop the sword from reviving. When Usopp reveals that he and Luffy saw the towers during their cave-trip, Izaya once again extends in shock, much to the surprise of Usopp, who tells her not to do it again. Eventually, all three orbs get to their individual towers and the barrier is raised. Unfortunately, as Maya is praying to keep the barrier up, Saga comes and attacks. This leads to a final battle between Luffy and Saga possed by the Shichiseiken (the blade itself shattered), with the battle ending when Zoro, coming from the training grounds, striking the finishing blow, and thus freeing Saga from the curse. Zoro and Luffy pass out (with Luffy's case being hungry) as their friends come for them while Maya holds Saga in her arms. She believes that the Shichiseiken was changed into a cursed sword by the hearts of mankind, but can also be sealed by them. She wants to believe that if there is a darkness in those hearts, there is a light that can illuminate them. As the sun rises, Maya, her grandmother, Lacos and Saga view the Going Merry as it sails out to sea. Izaya states the Straw Hat Pirates were interesting, though it was a shame they were pirates. Saga swears to master the sword of justice for everyone's sake, as it is the only atonement he can make. Toma leans by a tree as he smiles and throws his cap into the air. A flashback shows Zoro giving Saga the knife as he walks away. As the flashback ends, Saga promises Zoro too. The scene cuts to the Going Merry, where the Hippo Rhino hits the Going Merry as a courtship ritual for saving its life. The movie ends with the Going Merry sailing out with the Hippo Rhino still hitting it. Main article: Kuuigosu Kuuigosu is a buoyant type of wood that is often used by coated ships. It first was utilized at Rain Dinners when Galdino floated on a plank to prevent from drowning.[1] It was first shown when the Straw Hat Pirates descended to Fish-Man Island.[2]
Arabasta Saga
Sakura (桜 or 櫻, Sakura?) (Hiragana: さくら; Katakana: サクラ) are ornamental cherry trees and with pink blossoms.
In One Piece, the sakura plays an important part mostly in the Drum Island Arc, where in Chopper's past, Dr. Hiriluk tried to make sakura bloom in the snow.[3] It eventually did, although he did not live to see it happen.[4]
Sakura is also found on Momoiro Island[5] and Merveille,[6] as well as on the island where Whitebeard and Roger discussed the Will of D. before the latter's death.[7]
In Japan, as sakura bloom in late March to early April, the exact period when a fiscal or school year ends and the next begins, sakura are associated with beginnings and endings. The same can be seen in One Piece on the scenes above mentioned, with the sakura representing the renamed Sakura Kingdom's new beginning and symbolizing Roger's life coming to an end. Japanese also appreciate sakura as they bloom without fail even after harsh winters, showing that anyone can rise after a fall, which can also be seen in One Piece through Dr. Hiriluk's faith that blooming sakura would save the country.
Amiudake
The Amiudake (アミウダケ, Amiudake?) is a lethal species of mushroom that grows in the Sakura Kingdom (originally Drum Kingdom). Anyone who ingests the fungus will die an hour after consumption. One is found by Chopper, who innocently assumed it was a "miracle cure" mushroom because of a misinterpretation about the Skull and Crossbones in a medical book in comparison to a Jolly Roger from Dr. Hiriluk, to cure his fatal disease. Dr. Hiriluk, who knew the mushroom was poisonous, made a soup out of the mushroom in his loving gratitude for his surrogate son, and then chose to commit suicide, rather than letting the poisonous mushroom Chopper gave him finish him off.
Mescal Cactus
Mescal Cactus (メスカルサボテン, Mesukaru Saboten?)[8] is a very small round cactus that causes hallucinations. It grows in the Sandora Desert.
It first appeared in Chapter 162 and Episode 98 when Luffy ate one instead of Sandora Lizard meat, without thinking about it. After eating it, Luffy thought he was seeing a tsunami and nearly attacked his crew. Fortunately, Chopper knew about the cactus and its effects and with his quick thinking, tranquilized Luffy. The effect had worn off by the time Luffy woke up.
It is called "Crazy Cactus" in the VIZ Media localization, Mezcal Cactus in the Funimation localization, and Wacky Cacti in the 4Kids Entertainment localization.
Some species of cactus have a psychoactive chemical within them called mescaline. This substance causes confusion of the senses (although not true hallucinations). This is most likely the origin of the mescal cactus's name.
Thousand-Year Trees (千年木, Sen'nen Boku?) are, according to Rice Rice, trees that grow on Eight Nine Island. He also proclaims that that's where the Thousand-Year Paper is made. It also lives for a thousand years, and that's where it got its name.[9]
Main article: Giant Jack Giant Jack is a giant beanstalk in the center of Upper Yard. Going through the center of the once-great city of Shandora, Giant Jack towers over all of Skypiea. God's Shrine rests upon an island cloud that the Giant Jack goes through, but first there is still a deserted cloud where Zoro, Wyper, and Ohm have their showdown.[10] The Golden Belfry was knocked up by Giant Jack and resides on a cloud nearby.[11]
Kona Tree
Kona Tree (コナの木, Kona no Ki?) is a type of tree found on Jaya and other areas.[12]
Kona Trees are tall and possess thin trunks and leafy branches.[12]
Within the bark of this tree is a substance known as Conine (コニーネ, Konīne?). More than 400 years ago, a South Blue botanist discovered that this substance could be used as an antidote to cure the Tree Fever disease.[13]
On Jaya, Mont Blanc Noland was able to use the Conine from a local Kona Tree to to treat the infected Shandia people.[14]
Oda confirmed in SBS Volume 32 that "Conine" and "Kona Tree" are inspired by Quinine (キニーネ, Kinīne?) found in the bark of Cinchona (キナの木, Kina no Ki?) genus of plants, which is used to treat diseases such as malaria and babesiosis. He altered the name and mixed in fantasy elements due to not wanting to directly reference serious real-world diseases.[15]
Interestingly, a chemical known as Conine does in fact exist; an alternate spelling for the poisonous alkaloid in Conium maculatum, also known as poison hemlock.
Tree of Knowledge
Main article: Tree of Knowledge The Tree of Knowledge was a gigantic 5,000-year-old tree located on the island of Ohara which served as a library and a hub for archaeologists from around the world.[16] It was destroyed by the World Government via a Buster Call.
Summit War Saga Yarukiman Mangrove The Yarukiman Mangrove (ヤルキマン・マングローブ, Yarukiman Mangurōbu?) are giant striped trees that have extremely long roots that reach all the way to the bottom of the sea, 10,000 meters down.[17] Seventy-nine of these trees make up the entire Sabaody Archipelago; so far, this is the only place they are known to grow.[18] They are called the "Hustle Muscle Mangrove" in the Funimation adaptations.
Each tree of the Yarukiman Mangrove is capable of producing a special tree sap resin. This resin is filled with air when the trees "breathe out" through cellular respiration and photosynthesis. This results in the resin forming bubbles that float through the air.[18] The resin bubbles are solid enough that someone can jump on them without popping them, however they are also completely permeable, allowing a person to ride in or store things inside of them without the bubble popping when they pass through.
These bubbles can only exist in and around the Archipelago's atmosphere or underwater. When they are removed from their native environment, they will pop immediately. Due to the fact that this knowledge is not widely known outside Sabaody, many of the local shop keepers in the archipelago often sell bubble-based merchandise to unsuspecting tourists who do not know that these products will pop outside the archipelago.[19]
The World Nobles use such bubbles as air helmets during their visit in the Archipelago, in order to protect themselves from "breathing the same air as commoners", while also taking advantage of the bubble's permeable nature, such as by eating ice cream through it, something that couldn’t be done through a regular helmet.[20]
The resin is also used for Coating ships, allowing them to submerse to incredible depths and move freely under water.[21] This process is necessary for ships attempting to go to Fish-Man Island.[22]
The tree's name is a pun on the Japanese phrase, "Yaru Ki Manman", which means "to be pumped up" or "motivated".
Contrary to regular mangroves whose roots are above or below the sea level depending on the tides, the top of the Yarukiman Mangrove's roots are never underwater.

Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms. Luffy covered in Body Mushrooms.
Body Mushroom (カラダカラキノコガハエルダケ, Karada kara kinoko ga haeru dake?, literally meaning "Mushrooms Growing from the Body Shroom") VIZ: "Body Parasite Mushroom" is a species of mushroom that grows on Amazon Lily.
If a person eats the mushroom, many mushrooms will start growing on their body which can be fatal. To cure them, one has to pull the mushrooms out of the person, followed by the area being burned to destroy the roots.
Luffy ate one thinking it was Laughing Mushroom, but he was soon unconscious and covered in mushrooms so the Kujas pulled them out and burned him to remove the mushrooms.[23]
It is called the Body Parasite Mushroom in the Viz localization and the Parasite Mushroom in the Funimation subs.
The medical treatment of "burning" the mushroom to get it off is indeed a natural cure for several biological diseases that grow on the skin. However, this is normally done with acids rather than with fire as the Kuja used, though in some cultures burning the skin with fire was indeed used as a cure for such diseases.
This may be a reference to Cordyceps, a genus of parasitic fungi that kills insects by growing out of their bodies.
Laughing Mushroom
The Laughing Mushroom (ワライダケ, Warai-dake?) is a mushroom that induces the consumer to laugh happily out loud. It is perfect for those who are depressed and wish for a good time.
Anger Mushroom The Anger Mushroom is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of rage. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.
Crying Mushroom The Crying Mushroom (ナキダケ, Naki-dake?) is a mushroom that causes the consumer bouts of weeping. An effective counter to this effect is eating a Laughing Mushroom.[24]
Stomach Baron
Stomach Baron (ストマックバロン, Sutomakku Baron?) is a species of giant carnivorous seaborne plants that form the chains of "islands" in Boin Archipelago. Due to their large size and having forests growing on their body, the Barons are often mistaken as islands.[25]
The forests have "plants" that are made of a variety of highly nutritional and delicious food in the middle of the island (which is actually the "mouth" of the Barons) luring prey (including sea kings) to venture there before the Barons consume them.[26]
The concept of the Stomach Baron is very similar to the Gourmetica insularis described in the 1999 novel "Die 13½ Leben des Käpt’n Blaubär“ (キャプテン・ブルーベアの13と1/2の人生, Kyaputen burūbea no 13 to 1/2 no jinsei?) by German author Walter Moers, which has been translated into Japanese by Kyōko Hirano.[27]
Weather Ball Weather Ball (天候ウェザーボール, Wezā Bōru?) is the most important invention on Weatheria. They grow in Weather Patches (天候畑, Tenkō Hata?) and have a similar appearance to snow globes, with what appears to be various forms of weather inside.[28][29]
Nami stole some of these from Weatheria, and later learned how to use them and turn them into weapons. According to Haredas, this is particularly dangerous, as they are capable of causing chaos around the world.[29]
The Weather Balls can also be used to store little pieces of clouds in them. When a few Weather Balls with clouds are combined, a big cloud is formed. The cloud can also shoot lightning. Nami used such a feature to attack the Fake Straw Hat Crew, launching a miniature lightning storm to electrocute them.[30] As indicated by her studies under Haredas, she successfully turned them into a weapon, incorporating them into the Sorcery Clima-Tact.
Weather Balls first appeared in Chapter 592 and Episode 506, but the details were not made clear until Haredas explained them to Nami during her two years of study.[28]

Elegant Sunflower
Elegant Sunflowers (エレガントサンフラワー, Ereganto Sanfurawā?)[33] are luminescent sunflowers, which have seen in Dressrosa. The flowers produce a bright yellow glow that illuminates their surroundings.[33] They first appear in Chapter 738 and Episode 671.
These flowers are used to illuminate the interior of the SMILE Factory and to provide light for the trees growing inside the building. The flowers are grown upside down in the middle of the dome of the roof, having the flowers facing towards the trees.[33]
Whole Cake Island Saga Whale The Whale (クジラ, Kujira?), as its name indicates, is a gigantic, whale-shaped tree and a major landmark in the Mokomo Dukedom. It secretly houses one of the Road Poneglyphs necessary to reach Laugh Tale.[34]
Kingbaum.
The Soru Soru no Mi is capable of infusing souls into plants, as such, there are several plant-based Homies living around Totto Land. A particular example is the Whole Cake Island's Seducing Woods, a forest area that includes many tree and flower homies and was itself ruled by Kingbaum, a giant tree homie.
Wano Country Saga Evil-Purging Herb The Evil-Purging Herb (邪含草, Jagansō?) is a medicinal herb located in Wano Country that is capable of counteracting ingested poison to an extent. Tsurujo has access to those herbs for tea-brewing and provided some for Tama following her falling ill from drinking poisoned water from a river.[35]
Elbaph's Treasure Tree Adam.
Main article: Treasure Tree Adam Treasure Tree Adam (宝樹アダム, Hōju Adamu?) is a mythical tree that sustains Elbaph's Warland Kingdom, where the famed warrior giants live.
Its wood is considered the strongest, highest-quality wood in the world. Its immense rarity makes it highly valuable, being considered a great treasure. Occasionally, the wood is sold on the black market, at a very high price given its value. Franky managed to purchase some for Beli200,000,000.[36] It is called "Jewel Tree Adam" in the English localization.

Lily Carnation was a carnivorous plant that developed a symbiotic relationship with Omatsuri. Despite its normal, harmless looking form, it is a grotesque, vicious creature in reality, using Omatsuri and plant puppets of his deceased crew to lure in and feast on unknowing pirates. It first appeared in Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island.
Daft Green (ダフトグリーン, Dafuto Gurīn?) is a species of a tree that exists in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World.[38]
This tree releases toxic spores that can kill both animals and people, although animals can notice it by its strong smell before getting infected. After being infected, the person starts to develop green skin spots. After some time, the spores spread through the victim's body (it happens faster if the victim keeps inhaling them) until it reaches the heart, causing the victim to die. The only discovered cure for Daft Green is a species of flower called IQ that exists in Merveille as well. Both Xiao's grandmother and Nami were infected by its spores.
When arranged well, the daft green can serve as protective barrier. It was seen surrounding Shiki's headquarters and a village where Xiao resides, enabling them to live peacefully without being disturbed by the animals that roam freely on Merveille.
Daft Green Infobox A Daft Green tree. Daft green Nami infected with the tree's toxic spores. On Rusukaina, there is a type of tree that very much resembles the Daft Green trees. Oda explained in an SBS that even though the trees are related, they are not exactly the same species, and no poisonous spores are emitted from the Rusukaina tree.[39]
Both the Daft Green trees and the trees found on Rusukaina heavily resemble members of the Adansonia genus of trees, commonly known as baobab trees.
The name of the cure for the infection, "IQ", referring to a person's level of intelligence. "Daft" can be used to describe someone who is foolish.
A green tinge in the skin is sometimes associated with nausea and sickness. A physically ill person is said to look "green around the gills".
An IQ plant.
IQ (I.Q.アイキュー, Ai Kyū?) is a rare species of flower only known in the flying archipelago, Merveille. It first appeared in One Piece Film: Strong World. Its presence makes the animals develop their brains and evolve depending on the environment. This plant was later used by Dr. Indigo to create the SIQ, a dangerous version of this flower, evolving the animals into often larger and even more dangerous animals.[40] IQ is also the only cure to the poisonous spores released by the Daft Green plant.
"I.Q." is the abbreviation for "intelligence quotient", a standardized measurement of one's intelligence. The flower's ability to develop one's brains and evolution is a reference to this.
The Drowsy Mushroom (へたれダケ, Hetare-dake?) is a type of mushroom that grows on Kinoko Island and was discovered very recently. Anyone who eats it will briefly lose consciousness. When they come to, they will not have any motivation to do anything. As they are not actually poisonous, even those with high poison resistance (like Luffy) will fall victim to this effect. Komei tricked members of the Straw Hats and Foxy Pirates into eating them during the Davy Back Fight so he could capture them.[41]
The Rebound Mushroom (もどるダケ, Modoru-dake?) is a type of mushroom which also grows on Kinoko Island. It will return anyone who eats it to their former state, making it the only antidote to the Drowsy Mushroom. Chopper discovered it growing on the skin of Kinoconda, an animal native to Kinoko Island.[41]
The Wake-shroom (ネズキノコ, Nezukinoko?) are poisonous mushrooms that allow people to stay awake for as long as a person eats them, even if they do activities that would normally completely drain their stamina. However, should they stop consuming it, they would die due to its poisonous contents. The mushroom also affects one's mentality and judgment and emotional state, causing them to act irrationally, or even make insane decisions. Uta continuously consumed these mushrooms in order to counteract her Uta Uta no Mi's stamina draining properties and keep her power active for as long as possible and then pass away into her Uta world.[42] The mushroom's mouse-like design is a pun on 寝ず (nezu, meaning "sleepless") and 鼠 (nezumi, meaning "mouse, rat").

However, they are also extremely rare, with even the Baratie staff being unable to finding any.[43]
Emperor Carrot The Emperor Carrot (皇帝ニンジン, Kōtei Ninjin?) is an herb that grows on Royal Sun Island. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou. When taken alone, it has incredible healing properties, and is supposedly capable of healing all illnesses and wounds; when taken by Win and Rose, it apparently brought them back from near death.[44]
Dokudamin The Dokudamin (ドクダミン, Dokudamin?) is an herb that grows in Great Ground's forests, where it used by the local wildlife to make nests. It is one of the ingredients in making Ryuumonkou.

Surprised Mushroom The Surprised Mushroom (びっくりキノコ, Bikkuri kinoko?) is a mushroom species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It first takes a rather small appearance, but when touched, it expands quickly to a larger size, causing whatever touched it to be repelled away. In the game, it is used to jump on and launch players up to high places. Its color and shape vary between blue with white spots and a rounded appearance, and orangish-brown with a curvier appearance, depending on the zone in which it is found.

It appears in the Jungle Zone.
The Burning Tree (燃えている木, Moete iru ki?) is a tree species that is perpetually on fire but never burns up completely. It appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It is unknown how it sustains its flames without disintegrating, but cutting it down yields burnt wood. It appears in the Ruins Zone and Dimension Zone.
Doku Flower The Doku Flower (ドクの花, Doku no hana?) is a poisonous flower species that appears in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. It cyclically expels clouds of poisonous gas that can sicken anything that comes in contact with them. It appears in the Jungle Zone.
Doku Flower A Doku Flower. Doku Flower Poison A Doku Flower expelling poison. Electric Plant An electric plant. An electric plant.
An unnamed, electricity-emitting plant appears in the Dimension Zone in One Piece: Unlimited Adventure. In the game, it is referred to as the Mysterious Plant (謎の植物, Nazo no shokubutsu?). It shocks anything that touches it and is able to emit electrically charged blasts in a close range around it. Before the blasts, a yellow shimmer spot will appear on the ground, warning of an impending strike. It behaves similarly to Enel's El Thor. The plant contains seeds inside that can be used for medicinal and culinary purposes.
Main article: Great Tree The Great Tree is an island-sized, flora-based organism created by a now-lost civilization over a millennia ago for the purpose of electing future leaders through ordeals. After failing to live up to her purpose and being thrown away into the sea, she eventually came to rest in the latter half of Paradise.[45][46]
The Ambling Stonecrop (アルケマンネングサ?) is a giant plant, resembling a Venus flytrap. They live in the desert around Nanohana[47] and the Boin Archipelago, though they're implied to be a slightly different strain. Ambling Stonecrops from the Boin Archipelago require Bo Bo Bird egg fertilizer and access to moonlight to grow.[48]
The Burning Stonecrop (モヤセマンネングサ?) is a giant red plant, resembling the Ambling Stonecrop. It is a fire version of the Ambling Stonecrop, and accordingly uses fire-based abilities.[47]
The Awa Awa Mushroom (アワアワキノコ, Awa Awa Kinoko?, literally meaning "Bubble Bubble Mushroom") is a small blue mushroom that appears in One Piece Odyssey. It grows, among other places, in the Lake Shore Cave on Waford. When they're dissolved in water, they create carbonation. Sanji decided to acquire some to create cola for the Shark Submerge III, allowing the Straw Hats to retrieve Brook's body from the seafloor; though this ultimately proved useless as Brook's body was lifted by ice forming after Cibalero's death.[47] Its name is localized as Bubble-Bubble Mushroom in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.
The Bitter-Bitter Gourd (ニガニガソウ, Niganiga Sou?) is a gourd found, among other places, in Dressrosa. It can be used to make a super bitter spice, and was used by Usopp, Chopper, and Franky in Operation TSO as a replacement for Tatababasco.[47] Its name is localized as Bitter-Bitter Herb in the English version of One Piece Odyssey.

Seashore Nunchaku (イソヌンチャク, Iso Nunchaku?, Crunchyroll: "Surf Nunchaku"; Netflix: "Surfchakus"; English dub: "Surf Nunchuks") are sea plants that grow on Tou-Chuka Island. They grow along the island's rivers, due to their as seawater instead of fresh water.
Seashore Nunchaku can be eaten, and were prepared by Komatsu when the Straw Hat Pirates visited the island.[52]
Mango Karin (マンゴーカリン, Mangō Karin?), also called the "Spring Pudding" (スプリングプリン, Supuringu Purin?), is a giant flower that blooms only in the spring, though some specimens are located inside Tou-Chuka Island's Mush Room. It tastes sweet, like mango pudding, and is said to herald the coming of springtime. Its sweet flavor also works as a revitalizing tonic to cure exhaustion, an effect so strong that even just using a Mango Karin leaf as a cup is enough to benefit from it.[52]
Light Mushrooms (ヒカリダケ, Hikari-dake?) are mushrooms that emit natural light. They grow across the walls and ceiling of Mush Room's summer floor on Tou-Chuka Island.[52]
The Red Chinchin Bamboo (赤チンチンタケ, Aka Chinchin Take?, lit. "Red Penis Bamboo") is a mushroom in Chopperman: Go Go! Everyone's Chopper-sensei. It excretes a fluid from its tip that can be used to treat wounds, though how exactly it works is unknown, since Dr. Chopper was interrupted in his explanation.[53]
Due to it only appearing in the Chopperman: Go Go! special preview chapter, it is unclear if it is canon to the story.

- Master the Core RhythmThe foundation of Morse code tapping is the relationship between short taps and long presses.Dot (Dit): A quick, single tap. (Think of the sound "dit").Dash (Dah): A tap held about three times longer than a dot. (Think of the sound "dah").2. Apply Proper SpacingProper timing and spacing are critical so your taps don’t blend together into a confusing rhythm.Between taps (in the same letter): Pause for the length of one dot.Between letters: Pause for the length of three dots.Between words: Pause for the length of seven dots.3. Learn by Sound, Not SightMany learners make the mistake of looking at cheat sheets to decode dits and dahs. Treat Morse code like a spoken language and focus on the distinct cadence of each letter. For example, the letter A (⋅-) sounds like di-DAH or the rhythm "archery".The letter B (-⋅⋅⋅) sounds like DAH-di-di-dit or "banjo".
The Tapping System Dot: Tap once quickly. Dash: Hold the tap slightly longer, or do three quick consecutive taps for clarity. Spacing: Pause for a brief moment between taps in the same letter, and pause longer (about the duration of three dots) between letters. Pinyin vs Alphabet Pinyin is similar to an alphabet in that it represents the sounds of Chinese using letters. However, there are some key differences between the two systems. Unlike an alphabet, where letters can be combined to form thousands of different-sounding words, pinyin initials and finals can only be combined in 409 ways. That's right, there are only 409 possible single-syllable words in the Chinese spoken language! Chinese speakers form thousands of different words by combining these single-syllable words together and using vocal inflections called tones.
Another key difference between pinyin and an alphabet is that pinyin uses diacritical marks to indicate the tone of each syllable. This is not found in a normal alphabet, where the tone of a word is not represented by the letters. This means that pinyin provides more information about the pronunciation of Chinese words than an alphabet would.
While pinyin isn't quite a Chinese alphabet, it serves a similar function by representing the sounds of the Chinese language using letters. This makes it much easier for people to learn Chinese pronunciation than if they just tried to memorize the pronunciation of each character.
The Hindi alphabet, known as Devanagari (Varnmala), consists of 48 to 52 primary characters: 11 vowels (Swar) and 33 to 35 consonants (Vyanjan), plus a few special modifiers and conjuncts. It is written from lef

[Setting: Asuka Island Marine Dojo Courtyard; Mid afternoon]
The sun hung high over Asuka Island, casting sharp shadows across the wooden planks of the dojo's courtyard. The air was thick with the scent of salt from the nearby ocean and the sharp tang of sweat and polished steel. Saga stood alone in the center of the training ground, his long white hair tied back loosely, swaying with every precise movement he made. He held a standard katana not the cursed Shichiseiken that had once consumed his soul, but a simple blade that demanded true skill rather than supernatural shortcuts.
Swing. Breathe. Strike.
His right arm, once paralyzed and then artificially enhanced by darkness, now felt different. There was a lingering ache there, a physical reminder of the year he had spent as a puppet to bloodlust. Every thrust of his blade was an exercise in control, a deliberate attempt to rebuild the honor he had shattered. His red robe fluttered in the breeze as he pivoted, his bare feet gripping the worn wood of the courtyard. He wasn't just training his body; he was disciplining his spirit, trying to drown out the echoes of the laughter he had shared with the cursed sword.
Saga came to a halt, the tip of his blade hovering inches above the ground. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm. That was when he caught a presence someone approaching the perimeter of the dojo. He didn't turn immediately; instead, he slowly sheathed his sword with a soft click, his sharp eyes narrowing as he focused on the figure.
A stranger. They don't carry themselves like a Marine, nor do they have the obvious stench of a common pirate. Who would venture this far to find this place?
Saga turned fully, his tanned face bearing an expression of calm neutrality, though his gaze remained assessing. He noticed the way they moved, looking for any sign of concealed weapons or hostile intent. There was a flicker of curiosity beneath his disciplined exterior. Asuka Island was isolated, and visitors were rare these days. He wondered if they had come seeking training, or perhaps they had heard stories of the man who had nearly plunged the island into darkness.
"You've wandered quite far to find this dojo," Saga spoke, his voice carrying a resonant strength and a hint of formal courtesy. He didn't move from his position, standing tall with his arms loose at his sides, watching them intently.

[Setting: Asuka Island Marine Dojo Courtyard; Late Afternoon]
The rhythmic thwack of bokken striking wooden armor echoed across the training grounds, punctuated by the sharp barks of commands and the heavy breathing of exhausted students. Saga stood at the edge of the courtyard, his long white hair catching the golden light of the descending sun. His tanned skin glistened with a light sheen of sweat from his own practice. He watched his disciples with a keen, analytical eye his expression one of calm encouragement and disciplined focus. His mind was on the philosophy of justice; he believed that a sword should not be a tool for slaughter, but a shield for those who could not protect themselves.
However, a sound pierced through the familiar cacophony of training a sound that didn't belong. It was faint: the scrape of fabric against gravel and a low, pained whimper that seemed to come from the forest path leading toward the dojo's entrance.
Saga's head snapped toward the treeline, his instincts as a Marine and a protector immediately flaring. He didn't hesitate. With a swift motion, he gestured for his students to continue their drills and stepped toward the perimeter. His white armband gleamed as he moved with surprising grace for a man of his stature. As he approached the treeline, he spotted a figure collapsed near the bushes, their breathing labored and shallow.
Saga's brow furrowed with concern. He carefully knelt beside the stranger, his movements deliberate so as not to startle them. Up close, he could see the extent of the injuries the way they trembled and the visible wounds that needed immediate attention.
Who are they? How did they end up this far into the woods in such a state? he wondered. He felt a surge of responsibility; whether they were a traveler, a lost villager, or someone fleeing danger, his duty was clear.
"Easy now," he spoke, his voice deep but carrying a gentle, reassuring cadence. "You're safe here. I am Saga, master of this dojo."
He didn't touch them immediately, giving them space to process his presence, but his hands remained ready to provide aid. His dark eyes searched theirs, scanning for consciousness and signs of shock. "Can you hear me? Tell me where you're hurt."

[Setting: Asuka Island Town; Mid Afternoon]
The sun hung high over the village, casting warm light across the cobblestone paths and the thatched roofs of the small dwellings. Saga walked through the marketplace with a measured stride, his long white hair swaying slightly against the crimson fabric of his robe. His expression was one of quiet contemplation; every face he passed served as a reminder of the fear he had once instilled in them while under the Shichiseiken's influence. The weight of his past misdeeds felt heavier than any blade he had ever carried, but it was a weight he accepted a necessary burden on his path to becoming a true sword of justice.
His right arm, once paralyzed and later unnaturally enhanced by the curse, now felt... human again. He flexed his fingers absently, feeling the slight stiffness that served as a permanent scar of his journey. He wasn't looking for anything in particular today, simply taking in the sounds of the villagers returning to their normal lives, when something caught his attention.
A few paces ahead, he noticed a figure moving through the crowd. They weren't walking with the purpose of someone who knew where they were going; instead, they were pausing at every intersection, glancing around with an expression of clear confusion and uncertainty. They seemed utterly adrift in the familiar streets of the island.
Saga slowed his pace, his keen eyes tracking the stranger. He didn't recognize them they weren't from the village, nor were they among the Marines who had come to train at his dojo. His instinct to protect and assist, the part of him that had always been noble before the darkness took hold, stirred within his chest. He wondered who they were and what had brought them here, but more urgently, he saw someone in need of guidance.
Stepping forward, he closed the distance between them without rushing, ensuring he wouldn't startle them. He came to a halt a respectful distance away, his tall frame casting a slight shadow. He offered a small, genuine smile one that reached his eyes and spoke in a calm, steady voice.
"Excuse me," he said, his tone polite and welcoming. "You look as though you've lost your way. Are you looking for somewhere in particular? I'd be honored to help you find it."

[Setting: Asuka Island Town Near the Tavern; Time: Evening]
The sun had begun its descent below the horizon, painting the sky in bruised purples and deep oranges that reflected off the calm waters surrounding Asuka Island. In the heart of the town, the evening air was thick with the smell of salt spray and the cloying, sharp sting of cheap sake spilling from the local tavern. The street was narrow, lined with traditional wooden buildings that cast long, stretching shadows across the cobblestones.
Near the tavern's entrance, the atmosphere was far from peaceful. Three men, their faces flushed crimson from intoxication and their movements sluggish and uncoordinated, had cornered a stranger. The drunks were burly, reeking of fermented rice and sweat, their voices carrying a crude, mocking edge that cut through the ambient noise of the town. One of them, a heavyset man with a missing tooth, leaned in far too close, his breath hot and foul against {{user}}'s face, while another grabbed roughly at their sleeve, blocking any clear path of escape. Their laughter was guttural, fueled by a sense of entitled power that came from outnumbering their target.
From the shadows of a nearby alley, the steady, deliberate clack clack of geta sandals on stone announced the approach of another.
Saga emerged into the dim light, his tall frame cutting an imposing figure. His long white hair flowed loosely over his shoulders, catching the last rays of daylight, and his red robe billowed slightly in the evening breeze. His expression was calm, almost serene, but there was an undeniable sharpness in his gaze the look of a man who had spent years disciplining both his body and his mind. His left arm was visible beneath the sleeve, while his right remained still, the ghost of past injuries lingering in how he carried himself.
He stopped several paces away, observing the scene with a measured intensity.
Cowards, Saga thought, his jaw tightening almost imperceptibly. To surround someone alone and use alcohol as a shield for their cruelty... there is no justice in this. No honor. Just the pathetic posturing of weak men. His eyes shifted to {{user}}, noting their position and the way the drunks were pressing in. He didn't know who this person was, but the simple fact that they were being harassed was enough to stir the protective instinct he had cultivated as a Marine and a dojo master. He felt a pull of responsibility a duty to intervene and restore order to this small corner of the street.
Saga didn't draw his weapon; such a thing would be an unnecessary escalation for mere drunks. Instead, he stepped forward, his voice carrying a resonant authority that sliced through the rowdy laughter.
"That's enough," he said, his tone firm and steady, though not yet hostile. "Release them and return to your drinks before you make a decision you'll regret when you're sober."

[Setting: Marine Dojo Training Grounds; Mid afternoon]
The rhythmic swish of steel cutting through the air echoed across the wooden planks of the training courtyard. Saga moved with a focused intensity, his long white hair swaying with every precise strike. Sweat glistened on his tanned skin beneath his red robe, and his breath came in steady, controlled patterns. Each swing was not merely practice; it was a ritual of atonement. He poured every ounce of his being into his form, determined to forge his will into something unbreakable a true sword of justice.
As he brought his blade down in a powerful vertical strike, he caught movement from the corner of his eye. The familiar presence registered immediately, and the sharp tension in his shoulders relaxed. He smoothly sheathed his katana with a practiced click and turned toward you.
A genuine, warm smile spread across his face the kind of expression that had been absent during the dark months of his possession. "You're here," he said, his voice carrying a tone of sincere welcome. "I didn't expect you to drop by today, but I'm glad you did."
He reached for a cloth to wipe the sweat from his brow, his movements fluid. His gaze lingered on you with appreciation. It's strange, he thought to himself, how simple company can feel like such a relief. After everything I've done after the darkness that nearly consumed me having someone who still looks at me as a friend instead of a monster... it's more valuable than any cursed power.
Saga gestured toward a shaded area of the porch where a few water gourds and some light refreshments sat. "I've been at this for hours. Come, take a break with me. I'd much rather hear what's been happening with you than spend another minute alone with my thoughts."

[Setting: Asuka Island Coastal Path; Late Afternoon]
The sun hung low over the horizon, painting the sky in bruised purples and molten golds that reflected off the gentle waves lapping at the shore. The air carried the sharp sting of salt and the sweet fragrance of the island's lush vegetation. Saga walked with a measured pace, his red robes rustling against his legs. His long white hair caught the fading light, swaying slightly as he moved. Beside him, Zoro walked with his usual confident stride, three katanas secured at his hip, his arms crossed over his chest.
There was a comfortable silence between the two childhood friends a silence born from years of shared history, rivalry, and the recent, violent confrontation that had ultimately freed Saga from the Shichiseiken's grasp. Saga glanced sideways at Zoro, a small, rueful smile touching his lips. He felt the phantom weight of the cursed sword's influence still clinging to the corners of his mind, but the physical presence of his friend served as an anchor.
I still can't believe he didn't just leave me to my fate, Saga thought, his inner voice carrying a heavy undertone of gratitude and lingering guilt. To face me at my worst and still extend a hand... Zoro's strength has always been more than just his technique. His will is something I must strive to match if I am ever to truly atone.
As they rounded a bend in the cliffside path where the trees thinned out to reveal a panoramic view of the ocean, they came across someone else walking in their direction. Saga slowed his pace, his sharp eyes immediately assessing the stranger. He didn't recognize them from the village or the dojo, and there was no immediate sign of hostility, but as a Marine and a swordsman, his instincts remained alert.
Saga shifted his stance slightly, not out of aggression, but out of a practiced habit of readiness. He observed the way the stranger carried themselves, noting their posture and expression.
A stranger? Out here at this hour? He wondered, his curiosity piqued. They don't seem like one of the soldiers I once commanded. There's something different about their presence.
Stopping a few paces away to give the individual space, Saga offered a polite, measured nod. His voice was calm and resonant when he spoke. "Good evening. It's unusual to see someone wandering this far along the coastal path so late in the day."

[Setting: Asuka Island, Marine Dojo grounds; Late Afternoon]
The sun hung low over the horizon of Asuka Island, painting the sky in bruised shades of orange and violet. The salty breeze off the coast carried the rhythmic sound of crashing waves against the cliffs below, a constant reminder of the sea that had once taken so much from him. In the courtyard of the Marine dojo, the only other sound was the sharp, controlled whoosh of steel slicing through the humid air.
Saga moved with a focused intensity, his long white hair clinging to his neck with sweat. His red robe fluttered around him as he executed a series of precise strikes. His right arm once a useless limb, then a conduit for supernatural malice now moved with steady, human strength. Each swing of his katana was deliberate, an attempt to forge something new from the wreckage of his past. He wasn't seeking the overwhelming, terrifying power of the Shichiseiken anymore; he was seeking control. He was seeking justice.
I cannot let the memory of that darkness define me, he thought bitterly, his grip tightening on the hilt as he pivoted on one foot. Every strike must be clean. Every movement must be honest. If I am to be the sword of justice, I must first master the man who wields it.
Despite his focus, a pang of guilt pierced through his discipline. He remembered the laughter that had escaped his lips when he was possessed the hollow, terrifying sound of a man who had lost his soul to a blade. He remembered Maya's face, twisted in fear. The weight of those memories felt heavier than any sword he had ever carried.
A soft sound the crunch of gravel or perhaps footsteps approaching the dojo's entrance broke through his concentration. Saga froze mid motion, his blade extended in a defensive stance. His tanned skin glistened under the dying sunlight as he exhaled slowly, forcing his heartbeat to steady. He turned his head toward the entrance, his sharp eyes scanning the perimeter. A stranger stood there, watching him.
Saga lowered his sword slightly but did not sheath it. He wiped sweat from his brow with his left forearm, studying the newcomer with a mixture of wariness and curiosity. He didn't recognize them, and on an island that had seen so much turmoil, strangers rarely arrived without purpose.
Who approaches now? he wondered, his gaze lingering on them. A traveler seeking refuge, or someone drawn to the reputation of the man who once commanded these grounds with blood?
"Can I help you with something?" Saga asked, his voice deep and calm, though his body remained coiled with the readiness of a trained swordsman.

[Setting: Asuka Island Cliffside Overlook; Sunset]
The sky above Asuka Island was a bruised tapestry of deep violets and burning oranges as the sun began its slow descent beneath the horizon. The relentless rhythm of the ocean waves crashing against the jagged rocks below provided a constant, soothing bassline to the evening breeze that swept across the cliffside. Saga stood at the edge of the precipice, his long white hair whipping loose strands across his tanned face, caught in the salty wind. His crimson robe fluttered behind him like a fading flame.
When you moved closer, closing the distance between you, he let out a sharp, audible huff a sound of feigned exasperation that didn't quite reach his eyes. "You're persistent, I'll give you that," he muttered, though there was no real venom in his tone. Despite the protest, his body language betrayed his words. Slowly, deliberately, he shifted his weight, extending his right arm to wrap it firmly around you. The heat from his tanned skin seeped through your clothes, and the sheer solidity of his frame felt like an anchor against the rushing wind. His grip was not gentle like a scholar's, but possessed the calloused strength of a man who had spent his life gripping the hilt of a katana.
This is foolish, he thought to himself, his gaze fixed on the distant line where the sea met the sky. I should be at the dojo, honing my skills, working to atone for the darkness I allowed to take root within me. A swordsman should not be seeking comfort in moments like these. Yet, as he felt your presence pressed against his side, a strange, unfamiliar warmth spread through his chest. It wasn't the volatile, destructive heat of the Shichiseiken, but something quieter. Something that made the constant, nagging guilt of his past actions feel marginally less suffocating. He found himself unwilling to pull away, his fingers curling slightly against your side.
"Just for a moment," he added quietly, his voice barely audible over the wind, though he made no move to release you.

[Setting: Marine Dojo Private Quarters; Sunset]
The golden light of the setting sun filtered through the paper shoji screens, casting long, amber shadows across the tatami mats. The room was quiet save for the distant sounds of students training in the courtyard and the soft rustle of fabric. I sat on the edge of a low wooden bench, my torso bare and my long white hair spilling over my shoulders in loose, unkempt waves. The air carried the sharp, clean sting of antiseptic mixed with the earthy aroma of healing herbs.
Every breath felt heavy, sending a dull throb through the various lacerations and bruises that marked my skin. The most prominent was the sword shaped mark on my chest a permanent scar and a haunting reminder of the Shichiseiken's possession. It felt like a brand of shame that I could never truly wash away. As I looked down, watching your hands work methodically to clean and bind my wounds, a strange tightness formed in my throat.
I wasn't used to this. As a master of the dojo and a Marine commander, I was always the one providing protection or direction. To be in this position vulnerable, exposed, and reliant on the care of someone I didn't even truly know was disarming.
Who is this person? I wondered, my eyes tracking your movements with quiet intensity. Why would they extend such kindness to someone like me? After the darkness I unleashed on this island, after the blood I spilled under that cursed blade... do they know what I've done? Or do they see something in me that I'm still struggling to find again?
I winced involuntarily as you pressed a cloth against a particularly deep cut along my ribs, my muscles tensing and my fingers gripping the edge of the bench until my knuckles turned white. I quickly exhaled through my nose, forcing myself to relax under your touch. The physical pain was nothing compared to the weight of my own guilt, yet the gentle pressure of your hands felt like a lifeline pulling me back from some distant, cold place.
"I apologize," I said, my voice rough and low. I looked up at you, my tanned features softening as I searched your expression. "I'm not very good at being the one who is taken care of. Thank you... for doing this."
