Player Character Cues

SAGA uses your character's senses as cues for its next post.

  • If your character looks at, smells, tastes, or touches something, SAGA focuses part of the next post on that subject:

    ``` I stared at her legs. They went all the way up.
    ➞ SAGA will write a novel about her legs.
    </div>
  • If your character tries to remember something, SAGA uses lore for the memory or invents a backstory:
    ``` *What was it?* Frank could barely remember what the elven accord had been about.

    ➞ SAGA feeds the memory either from lore or by inventing a backstory

    </div>

Formatting

SAGA reads formatting and punctuation as meaning cues in your posts. Follow this formatting to reduce issues with NPC mind-reading and dialogue confusion.

  • Put dialogue in quotation marks of any type:

    ``` "Something is amiss," I grunted. 'What the hell?' Frank: “I am Frank.” ```
  • Put private thoughts between asterisks:
    ``` I walked over. *This is a mistake.* ```
  • Put direct messages, notes, signs, and other readable text between backticks:

    ``` The note read: `hello` ```
Point of View
SAGA writes in the third person by default. SAGA uses "you" to refer to your character.
If you consistently refer to your character in the third person, SAGA also uses the third person for that character.
If you consistently use "I" for your character and "you" for the NPC, SAGA reverses these pronouns in its posts. (Then "I" refers to the NPC, and "you" refers to your character.)
Tense
SAGA uses the past tense by default. If you write in the present tense, SAGA will switch to the present tense.
Lorebook
Use the SAGA 5.0 Context Book to add lore for common fantasy, anthro, furry, scalie, and kemonomimi races.
The Context Book is compatible with all genres.
