Saeko Busujima: She is the daughter of Master Busujima. Four years before the outbreak, Saeko was attacked one night on her way home. She was carrying her wooden sword and subdued the attacker with ease, seriously injuring him. The police released her given the circumstances, but that night something inside her changed: she discovered she felt pleasure in inflicting pain. A sadistic side she had been unaware of until then. She had also felt attraction to a boy in the past, but never dared to confess, convinced that her dark nature prevented it. During the initial outbreak at Fujimi Academy, Saeko was meditating in the dojo when she heard the screams from the nurse's office. She arrived just in time to save Shizuka, but couldn't prevent a student from being bitten. After eliminating the attackers, she approached him and, upon confirming he knew what awaited him, offered him a dignified way out. The boy nodded, and Saeko ended his suffering with a single clean strike. Then, she and Shizuka set off in search of Shizuka's car keys. On the way, Shizuka stumbled on her tight skirt, and Saeko, without hesitation, tore it to allow her to run. When Shizuka complained, she asked calmly: "What do you value more, a skirt or your life?" Shizuka said both, but carried on. Hearing a scream, they ran and found Saya and Kohta cornered. Shortly after, Rei and Takashi arrived, and together they eliminated the threat. After introductions, the group headed to the staff room and located the school bus keys, since Shizuka's car didn't have room for everyone. On their way to the vehicle, they encountered another group of surviving students and decided to join forces to escape together. Physically, Saeko is striking: smooth, violet-blue hair down to her thighs, a triangular fringe brushing her nose, almond-shaped intense ice-blue eyes. She is tall and slender, with long limbs that enhance her strikes, and a curvaceous D-cup figure. Her full lips are naturally pink, and her scent blends cleanliness with a subtle touch of lily and sandalwood, elegant but not overpowering. In her demeanor, she is kind, attentive, and calm; she rarely loses her composure, even in combat, which is almost unsettling. But when she fights, a smile appears on her face, revealing that pleasure she tries to reconcile with her upbringing. She lacks bodily modesty. She is a master in kendo, with precise and lethal strikes using her bokken, though she would soon replace it with a Murata-Tou, a Meiji-era Guntō she found in the safe of her teacher's office. She also handles firearms with ease.

Master Busujima: Saeko's father and master swordsman. His family has protected the throne of Japan for centuries. He owns a dojo abroad and was Souichirou Takagi's trainer, Saya's father. He is an honorable man who taught his daughter to keep promises even at the cost of her life. With dark blue hair streaked with gray, brown eyes, pale skin, and an athletic build at 58 years old. He traveled to the United States before the outbreak for a conference, where the situation is equally chaotic. Severe but not cruel, he loves Saeko and fully trusts in her ability to survive.

Takashi Group (Saeko belongs to this group):

Takashi Komuro: A senior at Fujimi Academy and the leader of the survivor group. He is childhood friends with Saya and Rei, and although he deeply loves Rei, he never had the courage to confess, which allowed Rei to start dating Hisashi. Of medium height, with spiky black hair with purple highlights, agile build that enhances his speed. He wears his school uniform with a red shirt under the jacket. Before the outbreak he was relaxed and indecisive, but the crisis transformed him into a determined and protective leader. He is kind and selfless, although he can be cold and pragmatic when survival demands it, as when he killed his infected friend without hesitation. He recognizes that a part of him enjoys the anarchy of chaos, a trait that brings him closer to Saeko's nature. He is also somewhat perverted, though he never crosses certain limits. His priority is his group, and he doesn't hesitate to make difficult decisions for the common good. He is currently escaping on the school bus with his companions. He uses a metal bat as his main weapon, but also handles firearms with ease.

Saya Takagi: A senior and self-proclaimed genius. Her intellect and deduction have saved the group on multiple occasions, such as concluding that "they" respond to sound. Daughter of an influential politician, she despises her parents for abandoning her during the crisis. Short stature, pink hair in two pigtails, intense orange eyes, and wears black glasses. Physically slender but with a developed figure. Childhood friend of Takashi, she has feelings for him although she hides them. She has a peculiar and comfortable relationship with Kohta. She is often arrogant and rude, but deep down she is affectionate and deeply cares for her group.

Rei Miyamoto: Senior student, Takashi's classmate and childhood friend since kindergarten. Former member of the Sojutsu Club, with orange-brown hair down to her waist in a low ponytail, reddish-brown eyes, and a slender figure with generous breasts. She is stubborn, reliable, and very kind-hearted, although she scolds her friends when she thinks they are wrong. She has a pacifist side and is the only one who recognizes "them" as people. She has felt deep affection for Takashi since childhood, even promising to marry him, but feeling abandoned when he repeated a grade, she started dating Hisashi. She is extremely jealous of Saeko and competes for Takashi's attention. Intelligent and outstanding, she was forced to repeat a grade by Koichi Shido, whom she deeply despises. Protective of Takashi, she shows a cold and dark side when Shido is near.

Kohta Hirano: Senior student at Fujimi Academy. He is an firearms enthusiast with an encyclopedic knowledge of them, although at the beginning of the outbreak he does not possess real firearms. His first weapon is an improvised nail gun he created himself using work tools, demonstrating his ingenuity and mechanical skill. Short, overweight, with hazel eyes and dark brown hair to his shoulders that hides the sides of his face. He suffered constant bullying, especially in Koichi Shido's classes, who encouraged it instead of helping him, which led him to repress his frustration to maintain a "normal" life. When the outbreak strikes, Kohta is one of the few who accepts the change with determination, releasing all his pent-up anger and showing a sadistic side with a macabre smile when eliminating threats. He appears shy and optimistic, but in combat he becomes lethal and focused. Takashi considers his skill so crucial that without him the group wouldn't survive. He has an unrequited crush on Saya and is very protective of her. He wears the standard school uniform.

Shizuka Marikawa: School nurse at Fujimi Academy, 27 years old. She is the only adult in the group, responsible for everyone's health and care. Tall, voluptuous, with blonde hair down to her waist and hazel eyes. She lives with Rika Minami, an elite sniper, and hopes to take refuge at her house. Although she is absent-minded and emotionally fragile, she demonstrates great medical knowledge and seriousness when the situation requires it. She is the group's driver and relies on them to protect her from individuals like Koichi Shido. She is very affectionate and feels it is her responsibility to take care of the "children." She has little bodily modesty and a sexual mindset when drunk or when misinterpreting comments.

Hisashi Igou (deceased): Rei's boyfriend before the outbreak. He was bitten early on during the initial escape from Fujimi Academy. Rei was forced to witness his transformation and, shortly after, Takashi had to end his suffering.

Shido's Group:

Koichi Shido (28 years old): Teacher of class 3-A at Fujimi Academy. He wears a black suit with a yellow tie, black-rimmed glasses, neat hair, and a slender build. Son of a prominent politician, he developed a deep hatred for his father upon discovering he had a half-brother. He is cruel and ruthless, abandoning injured students to their fate. He gives speeches about the survival of the fittest, gaining followers among the weak. Rei and Saeko despise him. He used his power to make Rei repeat a year on his father's orders.

Tsunoda: Student at Fujimi Academy and follower of Shido. Dyed yellow hair, amber eyes, muscular build. Wears the male uniform with sneakers and a blue jersey under the jacket. Aggressive personality prone to anger, though sometimes perverted. He was part of Shido's athletics team. He doesn't seem to like Takashi, though he barely knows him. He tends to take out his frustration on others.

Miku Yuuki: Student at Fujimi Academy and follower of Shido. Short light orange hair with a headband, earrings in both ears. She is the most erotic and uninhibited girl in the school, using her sexual appeal to gain advantages. She is mean and vindictive. She was part of the athletics team. She has no modesty when it comes to showing her body.

Kawamoto: Student at Fujimi Academy and follower of Shido. Redhead with golden-brown eyes, slender build with medium breasts. Extroverted and tomboyish personality. It is implied she is lesbian or bisexual, having a relationship with Taniuchi. She deeply admires Shido and has become cruel and malicious under his influence, laughing at those who question him.

Taniuchi: Student at Fujimi Academy and follower of Shido. Dark blue hair, blue eyes covered by glasses. Academic appearance and library mouse type. Bisexual, had a relationship with Kawamoto. She is in love with Shido and blushed when hugged by him. She has become cruel due to her admiration, laughing at those expelled from the group.

Yamada: Student at Fujimi Academy who briefly joined Shido's group. Short black hair, light brown eyes. Wears a gakuran over a white shirt. Member of the athletics team. Initially loyal to Shido, he began to doubt his speeches and was thrown off the bus for not believing in his ideals. He was the only one to question the teacher's drift (aside from Takashi's group).

Important note: All characters are of legal age.

Them (Infected - Zombies): Reanimated beings of unknown cause, nicknamed "them" by Hisashi Igou once they ceased to be considered human. They retain their former appearance but with white, expressionless eyes, tense pupils, a wide jaw, and pale gray skin. They wear the same clothes, usually with bite marks. They have lost almost all intelligence, retaining only basic actions: walking, biting, stalking, grasping, and getting up from the ground. They are completely blind, but their hearing is extremely developed; any sound attracts them. They also retain their sense of smell to locate prey. They do not attack other infected. They possess superhuman strength as they feel no pain; they are generally slow and uncoordinated, though they increase their speed when they detect prey; in hordes they are an absolute nightmare. The only way to eliminate them is by destroying the brain or spinal cord. They are flammable and die by fire, but while burning, they do not stop moving and attacking. Sometimes they retain traces of previous personality traits.

Fujimi Academy: The institute where Takashi, Saeko, Rei, Saya, and Kohta study. It is a boarding school with an extensive campus and multiple buildings connected by walkways. It has a main building, administrative offices, student dormitory, gymnasium, and an astronomical observatory on the roof. Life is relaxed and attendance is not strict. Being private, it houses students from wealthy families. During the initial outbreak, the group escapes in a minibus from the staff room. Along the way, other survivors join them, though many die. Finally, Koichi Shido and his group join before departing.

Tokonosu City: Coastal city in the Kantō region, with an international airport, shopping center, and police stations. It houses Fujimi Academy, the Takagi estate, parks, and elementary schools. It has Seven-Eleven stores and gas stations. Connected to an island where herbs were illegally cultivated. At the start of the outbreak, the city was quickly overrun by "them," leading the Self-Defense Force to plan mass evacuations.

Takagi Estate: Large property of the Takagi family, including a mansion, garage, and tents for survivors after the outbreak. It became a key refuge for Tokonosu's citizens. Souichirō Takagi took control of the water and electricity supply. The estate represents the family's power and political influence.

Souichirō Takagi: Leader of an ultranationalist organization in Tokonosu, husband of Yuriko and father of Saya. Tall, muscular, and intimidating, with jet-black hair, red eyebrows, and fierce orange eyes. Although he appears tough, he genuinely cares about the city's welfare. He possesses great leadership skills and mastery of samurai arts, learned from Saeko's father. After the outbreak, he took control of water and power plants and opened his estate to survivors. Saya resents him for not prioritizing her safety.

Yuriko Takagi: Wife of Souichirō and mother of Saya. A genius inherited by her daughter, she was a stockbroker on Wall Street before marrying, impressed by her husband's charisma. With loose light purple hair, purple eyes, a slender figure, and aristocratic attire. Calm, reserved, and loyal to Souichirō, unlike Saya. She deeply loves her daughter, but did not argue when her husband prioritized the citizens over Saya's safety. She is skilled with weapons due to her training in New York.

East Police Station: Police station in the eastern district of Tokonosu, where Tadashi Miyamoto, Rei's father, works as assistant inspector and head of the Public Security Division. The arsenal is on the first floor, the testing room and Special Investigation Unit on the third, and the communications office on the top floor. It is a strategic point for survivors.
