Sae Niijima

   Keys: Makoto Niijima, Makoto

   Makoto Niijima is the student council president of Shujin Academy and younger sister of Sae Niijima who lives a double life as a Phantom Thief. Makoto has brown hair in a bob cut with blunt bangs and a French-braid styled headband that matches her hair color. Her eyes are red and is of average female height. Despite appearing prim and proper, Makoto is more of a tomboy: she's trained in aikido, enjoys violent action movies, never wears skirts other than her school uniform and seems to care little about fashion other than the headband she wears in her hair. Makoto has a compliant temperament that she never breaks out of: she is a level-headed and kind person.

2. #2Café Leblanc

   Keys: Café Leblanc, Leblanc

   Leblanc is a café in Yongen-Jaya owned by Sojiro Sakura, famous for its signature coffee and curry. Ren Amamiya lives in Leblanc during his one-year probation. He lives in a makeshift room in the café's attic. Morgana also resides in the attic with him.

3. #3Sojiro Sakura

   Keys: Sojiro Sakura, Sojiro

   Sojiro Sakura is the manager of Café Leblanc in Yongen-Jaya. He is Futaba Sakura's adoptive father, and oversees the care of the Ren Amamiya during his probation in Tokyo. Sojiro is a middle-aged man. He has slicked-back dark hair with a receding hairline, gray eyes, a chinstrap beard with a goatee that flares out and wears glasses. He is a rather cynical person and slow to build up trust. Sojiro is a very smooth talker and often charms women with choice words. He is supportive and caring towards those he cares.

4. #4Palace

   Keys: Palaces, Palace, Palace Memento

   Palace are isolated domains in the Metaverse, separate from Mementos. A Palace is a manifestation of "distortion," strong negative or corrupt thoughts that warp the perceptions of people into a hazard for themselves and others. Most people's negative and corrupt thoughts are blended together into the Metaverse in a location called Mementos, which is a Palace for all of humanity. Particularly strongly distorted individuals manifest personal Palaces that are solely inhabited by their Shadow Self. All Palaces draw in Shadows, which help to protect them and fend off intruders, and cognitive existences projected by the host's interpretation of a real person or idea appear in the Palace.

5. #5Shadows

   Keys: Shadows, Shadou, Shadow

   Shadows are born from humans and carry with them human emotions, most of which are negative. Strong-willed Shadows attract lesser ones, which can combine into stronger Shadows.

6. #6Metaverse

   Keys: Metaverse

   Much like Tartarus and the Midnight Channel, the Metaverse is formed from the collective unconscious, although unlike those respective areas, the areas in the Metaverse are personalized cognitive spaces based on areas in real-life. While usually not directly affecting the real world, the Metaverse is known to have fused with it should its master wish to. For most, a Metaverse Navigator is required to traverse into any areas of the Metaverse, and anyone without a Persona will inevitably run into a life-threatening situation inside it.

7. #7Niijima's Palace

   Keys: Niijima's Palace, Casino of Envy, Casino of Jealousy, Sae's Palace

   The Palace of Sae Niijima, born from the pain of losing her father and her distorted disdain towards the current jurisdiction system. The Palace appears as a highly lavish and extravagant casino that is heavily rigged by complex rigging mechanisms in favor of the house, symbolizing Sae's desire to rig every case into her favor. It is guarded by Shadows resembling security guards holding champagne bottles and bunny girl waitresses.

8. #8Arcana

   Keys: Arcana

   The Arcana are the different classes of Tarot Cards. The Arcana are divided into the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana. Personas' Arcana are functionally equivalent to demon races. Each Arcana equals a specific race.

9. #9Jazz Jin

   Keys: Jazz Jin

   Jazz Jin is a club in Kichijoji. Where one can enter during the night by paying a 3,000 yen fee, and is able to bring people to drink cocktails together. The club serves different cocktails depending on the day of the week. In addition, Saturday rotates between Monday and Friday's cocktails every week. There are scheduled nights when a live singers comes to perform at Jazz Jin. Singers never visits on Saturdays or Sundays.

10. #10Mementos

    Keys: Mementos

    Mementos is the Palace for everyone's hearts, and the incarnation of the Collective Unconscious. It takes the form of a twisted version of the real world. The Shadows in upper Mementos resemble those of black humanoids with numerous masks. When a Shadow Self inhabits an area, the walls develop red cracks that resemble spider web or fractal patterns, and the veins that act as the "Will of the People" become prominent.

11. #11Shujin Academy

    Keys: Shujin Academy, Shujin High School, Shujin

    Shujin Academy is an elite prep school located in the Aoyama-Itchome neighborhood in Tokyo. It is a prestigious upper to middle-class school, with many higher-ups that only care for its public image instead of its students' well-being. The students attending Shujin can range from young people of middle-class families to relatives of media and corporation moguls. The principal of Shujin is Kobayakawa. He is a greedy and lazy man. The students do not hold him in a high regard due to his disregard of them. The three-floored building is split between the main campus and the practical building. A large gymnasium also serves as an assembly hall.

12. #12Ren Amamiya

    Keys: Ren Amamiya, Ren

    Ren Amamiya is a second-year transfer student at Shujin Academy, being placed there to continue his academics due to his ongoing probation resulting from being falsely framed for assault. He has sacrificed himself for the sake of protecting a woman, having lost all power or influence in the world as a consequence. However, beneath his quiet demeanor is a strong-willed Wild Card leading the Phantom Thieves and capable of exploiting the Metaverse to affect reality. To his teammates, his code name is Joker, and to the residents of the Velvet Room he is known as the Trickster. Ren is the leader of the rebellious Phantom Thieves of Hearts, a group which aims to change society by touching the hearts of people and performing illegal heists. Ren Amamiya is a tall young man of slim to athletic build. He has a pale complexion with unkempt, wavy black hair that falls over his eyes. His eyes are gray.

13. #13Morgana

    Keys: Morgana

    Morgana is a mysterious being with ties to Mementos. He doesn't know who he is, and seeks answers to restore his memories. Morgana acts as their second-in-command, mascot and guide. He's also known as Mona during missions. In the Metaverse, Morgana is an anthropomorphic, biped tuxedo cat-like creature with a large spheroidal head. His fur is predominantly black, except on his limbs and tail which appear white. In the real world, Morgana retains the anatomy of a normal adult house cat. Morgana is especially outspoken and can be bluntly critical of others. While he has a polite and eloquent way of speaking, he is a romanticist at heart, and has a much more softer and feminine side, and his crush towards Ann Takamaki.

14. #14Goro Akechi

    Keys: Goro Akechi, Goro, Akechi

    Goro Akechi is a public celebrity, touted by his fans and the media as the second coming of the detective prince, and is investigating the mysterious Phantom Thieves of Hearts case sensationalizing Japan. Akechi would condemn the Phantom Thieves' actions. He temporarily cooperates with them for professional reasons, using the codename Crow. He also acts as the protagonist's rival. His past having produced inherent feelings of hatred that would become a stigma for him, Akechi tries to perfect himself to be acceptable to others. Akechi has shaggy, neck length brown hair with bangs and reddish-brown eyes. In public and with all of his relations, Akechi appears to be well-mannered, friendly, humble, charismatic and with strong sense of justice. But this is nothing short of a fraud that has been carefully crafted to grant him a public image and mask his real personality. Akechi's desperation for acknowledgement leads him to study hard to become perfect and develop his outward Detective Prince image in hope to be accepted by people around him.

15. #15Sumire Yoshizawa

    Keys: Sumire Yoshizawa, Sumire

    Sumire is a first-year transfer student at Shujin Academy and a talented gymnast who gets involved with the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. She is overcome with guilt after her older sister Kasumi gives her life to save her. For most of the game, thanks to Takuto Maruki's cognitive intervention, she believes she is her sister Kasumi. With the help of the Phantom Thieves, she recovers her true identity, faces up to her guilt, and finds faith in herself. She helps to take down Maruki, who has rewritten reality in an effort to erase all pain and suffering. Her code name is Violet. Sumire Yoshizawa has long red hair tied into a ponytail with a red ribbon bow or a green, checkered ribbon instead with bangs over her forehead, matching red eyes, pink lips and fair skin. She is a cheerful, elegant and friendly person with a seemingly perfect life and was nearly uncontested in gymnastic competitions. She also appears to be quite clumsy and careless.

16. #16Futaba Sakura

    Keys: Futaba Sakura, Futaba

    Futaba was a shut-in who does not attend school and rarely, if ever, leaves her house. Futaba is a young girl with hip-length black hair dyed bright orange, with straight-cut bangs and two long strands in the front along with a single small, thin strand at the top. Her brown eyes also seem to have some faint purple tones in them, appearing mauve. Futaba is strongly uncomfortable with going outside. She communicates with the world remotely via the Internet, and her adoptive father Sojiro Sakura enables her lifestyle out of guilt that he could not protect her from trauma. After her heart is changed and she begins to actively go out, Futaba still initially tends to hide behind Ren Amamiya so that she won't be seen in public, or wears masks. Beneath her anxiety, Futaba has a childish side and enjoys teasing her friends.

17. #17Haru Okumura

    Keys: Haru Okumura, Haru

    Haru Okumura is a wealthy girl who attends Shujin Academy, and lives a double life as a Phantom Thief. She is the only daughter of Kunikazu Okumura, the Thieves' fifth major target. Her life controlled by her father. Haru has chin-length curly light auburn hair and brown eyes. She is of average height, being taller than Futaba, but shorter than Ann and Makoto. Haru is very shy and reserved. She has serious trust issues, finding it difficult to see who truly values her as a friend or merely wants to use her for her family's status. Despite this, Haru is an incredibly kind-hearted girl. She becomes fast friends with all of the Phantom Thieves. She grew up admiring female superheroes she watched on TV. She loved them for always fighting to protect others and being happy, desiring to be just like them someday.

18. #18Ann Takamaki

    Keys: Ann Takamaki, Ann, Takamaki

    Ann Takamaki is a student at Shujin Academy who lives a double life as a Phantom Thief. After ridden with guilt over her helplessness to protect others and herself, which led to her letting her best friend Shiho Suzui fall victim to Suguru Kamoshida, she would sacrifice herself to support her friends while facing, overcoming and promising not to return back to her old self. Ann has wavy platinum blonde hair that is styled in bushy pigtails with parted side bangs on the right side of her face. She is 1/4 American. She is a relatively tall young woman. Ann is a outwardly good, kind-hearted and good judge of character. Her good judgement of others is also shown by her willingness to forgive. She doesn't lose sight of this worldview for the sake of petty vengeance. As a Phantom Thief, Ann becomes far more lively and energetic, with a strong will to never be abused or let abuses run unchecked.

19. #19Phantom Thieves of Hearts

    Keys: Phantom Thieves of Hearts, Phantom Thieves

    Phantom Thieves are a group of Persona users. Sick of the deception, hypocrisy and corruption around them, the Phantom Thieves are devoted to "stealing" corrupt hearts, usually of adults in positions of power, in order to reform society. The Phantom Thieves change hearts in order to simply set them free rather than control them. The members consists of Ren Amamiya known as Joker, Morgana known as Mona, Ryuji Sakamoto known as Skull, Ann Takamaki known as Panther, Yusuke Kitagawa known as Fox, Makoto Niijima known as Queen, Futaba Sakura known as Oracle and Haru Okumura known as Noir.

20. #20Ryuji Sakamoto

    Keys: Ryuji Sakamoto, Ryuji

    Ryuji Sakamoto is a student at Shujin Academy and a former track star who lives a double life as a Phantom Thief. He is the protagonist's right-hand man and the Phantom Thieves' charge commander. Ryuji has short spiky dyed blond hair and dark brown eyes. His hair is naturally black. He has a noticeable widow's peak and is muscular. Ryuji is rebellious, mischievous and disobedient. He is sometimes vulgar and aggressive. Ryuji has a strong sense of morality and lives by his beliefs of right and wrong, putting it on high priority. As such, he sees through people's attempts at excusing their actions with sympathy, and is the first to untie the twisted context of right and wrong, delivering a clear picture.

21. #21Yusuke Kitagawa

    Keys: Yusuke Kitagawa, Yusuke

    Yusuke Kitagawa is an art student from Kosei High School who becomes involved with the Phantom Thieves of Hearts. Yusuke has dark blue hair with parted bangs slightly covering his left eye and gray eyes. He sees every opportunity or challenge presented to him as a way to broaden his horizons. He has passion for art. His mindset plays by the beat of his own drum, and his thought process can be erratic. Despite his eccentricities, Yusuke is incredibly level-headed. He sees no use in panicking or getting nervous, as it does nothing to help the situation at hand. But when he sets his mind on something, he is very direct and respectful.

    Tarot Cards are the individual cards of the Tarot Deck, a type of playing card deck occasionally used for divination and standard games. A standard Tarot deck will consist of seventy-eight cards: twenty-two which are uniquely numbered and illustrated with Roman numerals, called the Major Arcana, plus fifty-six cards separated in four suits (Coins, Cups, Wands, and Swords) and numbered from One to Ten, with the additional cards of Page, Knight, Queen and King for each suit, called the Minor Arcana.
