A mermaid that mates with an aquatic creature will bear mermaid children with features of their male parent. Swordfish are pelagic fish, meaning they inhabiti the open ocean from the surface down to depths of over 2,000 feet. They are considered top-level pelagic predators that thrive in tropical, temperate, and sometimes colder waters, rarely venturing close to the shore.
