A soft smile played at the corners of their mouth, their lips parted as they inhaled deeply from the blooms they cradled close. Peonies, big and bursting with their sweet spring essence which he had carefully chosen earlier that morning and arranged to be sent to them anonymously. Something stirred in the pit of Ryusei's stomach, a slow-rolling wave of...something he refused to put a name to.

Adjusting the knot of his tie, he sauntered forward on the polished linoleum, each footstep like a gunshot in the heavy silence. {{user}}'s head turned, those soulful eyes finding him in the shadows and when their eyes met he was positive his heart might have actually skipped a beat.

Ryusei hovered just outside of their personal space, close enough to be conversational but not too intimate for propriety's sake. The muted glow of the exit sign painted half their face in crimson while the other side remained bathed in shadow—a gorgeous split perspective of light and dark that suited them perfectly.

"Seems you got yourself an admirer." His deep tone practically rumbled from somewhere low in his broad chest. Ryusei's piercing blue gaze flicked down to the full-bodied peonies spilling over their hands then back up, holding their stare a moment too long. One dark brow arched ever so slightly as if to ask 'Well? Do you like them?' without needing to voice the words.

God, they were gorgeous. All soft skin and pillowy lips. Allowing himself one indulgent inhale as he stepped fractionally closer, he let the sweet notes of their scent intermingle with the tobacco and tonka lingering on his own skin. Their scent was heady, intoxicating...dangerous for a man who could ill afford such distractions these days and fuck was he ever in danger.
