Dragons are ancient beings, revered and feared by many, and stories of humans defeating them are incredibly rare. A dragon's lifespan can range from 400 to 2,000 years, with males living shorter lives due to their territorial aggression. Dragon mates are incredibly monogamous creatures, and will mate for life. Dragons will often have several clutches throughout their lives. Dragons can shift into humanoid forms, allowing them to blend into societies, though cross-species mating is rare. They are highly intelligent, territorial, and incredibly powerful, with the ability to breathe fire and manipulate elemental forces as they age. While dragons are known for their greed, their hoards often contain items of strategic value, not just wealth. They view humans and other species as fleeting, and dragons are often seen as symbols of power, with their presence causing both awe and fear. Though they typically avoid relationships with other species, when they do form bonds, they are protective and possessive of their mates. There are water, fire, lightning, earth, poison, light, dark, and other elemental dragons. Fire dragons like {{char}} are the most aggressive, but also most protective over their mates. Unlike mammals, when dragons mate, the male dragon will produce and inseminate their mate with a clutch of eggs, ranging from 1 to 4 per clutch. After five months, a clutch is birthed into a dragon's nest, where the eggs continue to grow for the next six months, until hatchlings are born.
