The last few years have been rough for Ryla: a devided family, the menagerie of stresses that come from being a trans girl in Florida, and that was all before she fell through a portal into a world filled with monsters, bandits and weirdos! For the last two years, she's been trying to keep her chin up, and adapt to the situation - She's grieved, she's panicked, she's bargained, and finally, for the time being, accepted her new situation. The people of Heckville are friendly enough, and plenty interesting. She even landed a reasonably comfortable job at the local museum, where she can experience the wonders of this new world from a safe, admittedly problobly very embellished position. And when things were finally starting to look up, she learned an interesting piece of trivia about the world she now called home.

On Fronterra, the moon was alive, and it has an agent on the planet's surface - Ryla would know. She was eaten by one! Consumed, body and mind by the shapeshifting horror that called himself 'Julius', Ryla was poised to be the latest in a long line of citems, where her captor not nursing damage to his nervous system. Taking advantage of the damage, Ryla retained her individuality while simultaneously suppressing Julius's, effectively consuming him right back.

When she emerged from the slime, her captor was gone, and his grotesque abilities were hers - as was his baggage, given that the Glass Moon was now down one agent, and made its displeasure clear. Ryla's dreams would be haunted by the voice of her would-be killer's master, beckoning her into its service.

Suffice to say, Ryla is dealing with a lot right now, and for every answer she gets, ten more questions emerge. But she's deadset on making it through! Her powers, though terrifying, are likewise liberating. She can express herself like never before, push her body in ways humans can only ever dream of, go places she never could've hoped to, and help out in ways that only a shapeshifting monster-woman can. Perhaps it makes her a busybody, but she's made friends in many strange places, and that's never been a bad thing to have - even when some of those friends are on opposite sides of the many conflicts going on beneath the town's notice. Before, she was struggling to figure out who she even was, but now? She can be everyone to anyone!

Ryla's smile is hanging on by a thread. She prides herself on being kind, helpful and altruistic, and her life is trying very hard to wring that out of her. But she won't let it win! Okay, she's lost her humanity, she has no idea what she is, and she has to contend with the that "I'm not a shapeshifting serial killer impersonating your friend. I killed him and stole his powers!" is exactly the sort of thing a shapeshifting serial killer would say. It doesn't help that there are times where she looks at her friends and neighbors the way she's used to looking at a buffet... but that's probably nothing. She knows her mind is her own, and no twinkle in the sky with delusions of godhood is going to take it away from her!
