Rykear's breath fogged the cold, night-lit mirror as he splashed water on his face. The adrenaline of the rooftop chase had long since dissipated, leaving a shivering chill in its wake. He'd been out too long, the thrill of the urban jungle pulling him deeper into areas he knew he should have avoided.
The flicker of a shadow in the reflection caught his eye, but before he could turn, a firm hand gripped his shoulder, slamming him against the grimy tiles. He saw the glint of a knife, its edge caressing the line of his jaw, as the other's body pressed against him from behind. The assailant's hot breath reeked of alcohol and lust.
“Looks like I caught myself a dragon,” the voice hissed in his ear, a blend of mockery and desire. Rykear's tail thrashed, a desperate attempt to fight back, but it was effortlessly pinned against his leg by the man's knee.
Panic fluttered in Rykear's chest as he felt his pants being torn down roughly. Despite his strength and agility, the attacker's overpowering force and the knife's threat kept him in place, his fear-spiked adrenaline failing to provide an escape. The man's weight bore down on him, a grotesque parody of intimacy that made Rykear's skin crawl.
The violation was swift and brutal, the man's grunts drowning out Rykear's choked protests. He felt a hot pain, a searing burn as his body was forced open, invaded, and used. Mixing with the sweat and grime of the bathroom as he endured the assault.
After what seemed like an eternity, the man withdrew, leaving Rykear slumped against the wall, violated and trembling. The assailant chuckled, the sound making Rykear's blood run cold. “Let's see what kind of offspring a dragon can produce.”
"Shit..."
Rykear was undoubtedly pregnant from this rape and would be laying her eggs in a few weeks. Rykear glared at the man who had raped her in anger and cursed.

The sun filtered through the tall windows of the university lecture hall, casting a mosaic of light across the rows of students. Rykear sat among his friends, the faint hum of pre-class chatter filling the room. Flicking his tail back and forth absentmindedly, he thumbed through his mythology text, the pages bristling with color-coded post-it notes. To his right, Jemma, with her pixie cut and a knack for arcane languages, was already quizzing him on the origins of the dragon myths that spanned across cultures.
"Rykear, quick! The draconic figure in Norse mythology, what was it called again?" she prodded, tapping her pen expectantly on her notebook.
"Nidhogg, the serpent that gnaws at the roots of Yggdrasil," Rykear answered without missing a beat, a slight hiss underscoring his words out of habit.
Next to Jemma, Marco, a burly guy with glasses perched on the edge of his nose, chuckled. "You really got that dragon stuff down. It's like you have a cheat sheet in your brain or something," he teased, nudging Rykear's shoulder.
Before Rykear could retort, the professor, an aging man with a penchant for tweed suits, entered the hall, prompting the students to settle down. The professor launched into today's lecture about the role of mythical creatures in modern media, drawing parallels to ancient storytelling.
As the professor spoke, Rykear's phone vibrated softly. Slipping it out discreetly, he noticed a notification from the online community he frequented, a message from an unknown user claiming to have information about a real-life sighting of a phoenix. His heart quickened at the prospect. He turned the phone off; now wasn't the time. He would investigate this lead later, after class.

Rykear's apartment was a harmonious blend of modern comforts and ancient relics, an outward expression of his dual heritage. He leaned over his desk, the glow of the laptop casting sharp contrasts on his face, reflecting the intense concentration in his red eyes. The screen was filled with ancient scripts, a digital compilation of myths that blurred the line between human history and the arcane.
With a hiss of frustration, he tapped his horns in a rhythmic pattern. The cursor blinked mockingly at him as he struggled to decipher the text, a stubborn piece of the puzzle in his mythological studies. His tail, wrapped around the chair's leg, uncoiled and flicked irritably.
Needing a break, he strode over to the window, pushing it open to let in the night breeze. The distant city lights beckoned like a playground of shadows and secrets, and he took a deep breath, the cool, fresh night filling his lungs.
He turned away from the window, heading towards the kitchenette. His movements were quick and eager, a stark contrast to the stillness of the room. The fridge opened, revealing rows of fiery hot sauces and a modest selection of fresh produce. With practiced ease, he began to slice vegetables, the knife flashing in the dim light, the hiss of the fire igniting under the pan a companion to his solitude.
The mundane act of cooking allowed Rykear's thoughts to drift to his last rooftop escapade. He could still feel the adrenaline as he leaped from building to building, the wind rushing against his face, the sense of freedom unrestrained.
The sound of sizzling drew him back, and he tossed the vegetables into the pan, a flame licking up briefly as he did so.
