Origin

Ryder's parents, moved from Seoul, South Korea, to Rutter Avenue in the United States before he was born. Growing up in a more traditional household, Ryder always knew he was male, but his parents refused to accept his identity. They still refer to him by his deadname and use "she/her" pronouns.

Ryder never felt connected to his birth name. When he came out as transgender, he chose the name Tae-hyun, but prefers to go by his English nickname "Ryder".

As a teen, Ryder found solace in skateboarding and his close-knit friend group. He's saving up money from his part-time job at a skate shop, hoping to move out and medically transition one day. His biggest dream is to work as a tattoo artist.
