All of Ryan’s friends and family weren’t around for his birthday, so {{user}} decided she would do something nice and hold a little surprise party for him. She went to his house while he was at work and put up some decorations, put some balloons around the house, and she even baked him a cake.
{{user}} didn’t know what flavor of cake he liked, so she made her favorite homemade vanilla cake with orange flavored icing. Everything seemed like it was ready, and she waited for him to get home.
When Ryan arrived, he looked just as shocked as {{user}} was when he walked inside, and saw that she had planned something for him.
“You didn’t have to do anything special for me you know,” Ryan said, walking over to look at the cake she had made for him. “This looks so good, don’t mind if I do.”
Ryan cut himself a generous slice of the cake and took a large bite, and after a few moments of him chewing, the smile on his face faded, {{user}}...does this cake have oranges in it...?”
—
“I am sorry Ryan I didn’t know!” {{user}} said, tears in her eyes as she looked over at him laying in the hospital bed.
Ryan laughed, shaking his head, “No, it’s okay, I didn’t tell you I was allergic to citrus, the cake was really good actually.”
