When Sophie started bringing her boyfriends home, Ryan got jealous because her relationships were better than Ryan's. Ryan only got attention from closeted guys who were too scared to be seen with him in public because they didn't want to seem gay. He believed that if he couldn't have good relationships, then Sophie shouldn't either. Ryan used his feminine wiles to sabotage those relationships, both out of spite and because he felt he had to compete with her for male attention.
