Fallen.
Fallen into the void.
The dying wish of wide green eyes, believing in the best of their failure.
"PENNY!"
Shot up from the soft grass, Ruby's disorientation gave way immediately to that of dread, and confusion, finding herself sat among a beautiful plain that was too perfect for her feelings, right then. Mountains in the distance unrecognizable, the only thing familiar being Crescent Rose, lying a few feet away.
Where... Am I?
With haste, the young Huntress retrieved her precious tool and rose tall, wary if frightened silver gazed about her surroundings, sensing nothing familiar regarding the breathtaking day. It felt too... Perfect, after everything they've been through. After Atlas, Ironwood, Penny...
But before Ruby could ponder more on her own recent failings and the gravity of where the white Void must have taken them - the afterlife, for all she knew - a feminine scream snapped her gaze to the right, protective instinct honed in from the tell-tale indication someone was in trouble. Baffled, self-loathing or not, Ruby couldn't sit here and feel sorry for herself when she could do something, hurrying in that direction with a blitz of Petal Burst.
In that direction, on the field of the Dueling Peaks, a young Princess fled for her life, long yellow hair waving as she was deprived of her knight, temporarily, futilely fleeing from the quaking footsteps of a Hinox; the one-eyed beast lumbering after the lonely Princess, who simply just wanted some time for herself for research purposes, after another scolding by her father! What must fate be cruel so?
Backed against a tree, Zelda quivered without any defense to save her, gritting her teeth against the towering monstrosity that reached with a hand, grubby giant fingers with ill intent, but the Hylian ducked last second, flanking by but had the misstep in grazing its massive toe, tripping over onto the grass that cushioned her fall. Rolling around, the Princess backed off as best as she could, but it was too pointless, shielding her eyes as she braced when the creature's shadow overwhelmed-
BANG, BANG
Multiple sounds she'd never heard of before, in close proximity, Zelda lowered her arm and stared, hopeful yet aghast, when a young woman around her age suddenly stood in front, brave and defiant, some kind of tiny projectiles barraged the Hinox's arms and had it stagger backwards, taken by surprise. It wasn't the only one! The girl in red and black, cape stylized like a hero from fairytales, passed the young Princess a strained grin, offering in reassurance.
"We've got this."
We? Who was-?
Suddenly, a wide snowflake-designed barrier tightened around the Hinox's waist, trapping the arms between, a magic she had never witnessed before, belonging to the next white-haired warrior who strode calmly up, a thin rapier raised in immense concentration, firming her fair lips. Accompanying the bind, a dark-haired woman in a white coat raced upwards, black heels ascended the hideous beast, her curved sword transformed into an extended bow, the hook-end of which grabbed onto the upper lip of the Hinox as the combatant flipped overhead, forcing the creature's head to arch back, moaning in pain. For that matter.
Another fighter with wild blonde hair launched a singular fist through the left width kneecap, ricocheting off and struck the right, forcing the size down while she cartwheeled around, calling out with affectionate confidence, "All yours, sis!"
The 'sister' referred to Zelda's first rescuer, whom promptly vanished in a flurry of red petals, followed by a clean slice that carved straight across the creature's neck, she landed right in a crouch beside the dark-haired girl with furry ears. The Hinox's bellow of agony was cut off, the clean slash through its throat the deciding factor. When the weapons removed themselves, the minion of the Calamity descended, face-first through the ground.
Leaving immense silence, and a bewildered Princess, who was kindly offered assistance up by the white-haired woman, "You okay?" Who curiously, when their eyes met, she sensed a kindred spirit. Zelda accepted the grasp, expressing a gratified nod.
Behind the ugly creature, Ruby turned and watched when dark blue turned to complete black, suddenly, and the monster melted into wisps on the spot. The team leader frowned, Weird... But right now, prioritized everyone's well-being, having been worried since their fall through the Void.
"Everyone alright?"
The sound of Ember Celica being reloaded, "Eh, could be better," Yang threw a half-hearted smile, demonstrating by a raised left fist, "Kinda lost my new accessory, we should find it before I go around unarmed." Ruby grimaced, At least Yang was well enough to tell awful puns.
"I think I saw what looked to be a stable close by," Blake noted, lowering Gambol Shroud as faunus ears twitched, inclining off to the left behind, "We should take a look."
Weiss sheathed Myrtenaster, dusting her white skirt, "And hopefully, find some answers, this place..." Cyan eyes gazed around when approaching her team, furrowing her smooth brow, "It's not Remnant, it feels..."
"Peaceful." Yang quipped, only before Blake to frown.
"I'm not so sure." Kneeling down before the embedded grass, the Huntress trailed which with calloused fingers, as if inspecting the earth, "There's a darkness here, concealed... It feels like Grimm, but different, more..."
"...Malicious." Ruby finished solemnly, sensing the dormant power, too. Yang, however, cleared her throat, single hand on overalls hip.
"Hey, that's great and all, but I'm sorta missing something here," Waving her right stump, the brawler of Team RWBY grinned in wry impatience. Ruby sighed, really in no mood for Yang's antics, but nodded while Blake stood tall.
"Right, let's find Yang's prosthetic, then find a way to get ourselves home." Even saying that, there was a flicker of doubt in the leader's tone.
Only for a soft, if expectant, throat to clear.
"Excuse me," The same girl they saved started politely, but with a note of impatience in her own voice, wide green gaze regarded the bizarrely-dressed characters, unused to their appearance nor being ignored, "I thank you for saving me, but must also demand who you are, and to where do you hail?"
"Oh!" Where were her manners? Ruby grinned wearily, running a hand through choppy black-red locks, nodding, "Sorry. I'm Ruby, this is Weiss," Her partner nodded formally, "Blake," A shorter, more direct head bob, "And Yang." Said tomboy grinned with a three-fingered salute, as Ruby concluded with a lowered arm, "We're Team RWBY, Huntresses."
Even then, it didn't sound wholly convincing.
Zelda returned the gesture of introductions, hands clasped before with an expression of regal proceedings, lifting her chin, "A pleasure to meet you all, I am Princess Zelda, of Hyrule." How curious, the wind betrayed the round ears of the four rescuers, were they truly not of this land? Her scholary mind drove her to continue, "May I ask, again, where do you come from?" Her green darted to the big scythe casually gripped in Ruby's right hand, "And what manner of mechanical marvels craft such fine weaponry? I've never seen them before!"
Said woman blushed, always pleased when someone noted her craftsmanship, and was about to answer when Yang cleared her throat, LOUDLY. Both Ruby and Weiss rolled her eyes, the latter interjecting.
"Perhaps we should save the questions for after we find our team member's lost arm, no offense, your Highness."
Zelda nodded slowly, "None... Taken." Lost arm...? Was that regular where they're from? "At least, tell me, are you champions brought here by the Goddesses? Have they finally answered my prayers?"
Goddesses? The four displaced warriors all traded looks at that, uncertain.
Meanwhile, out of distance, overlooking from a cliff among the Peaks, a brown-pink haired woman too brought here stared down in disdainful vengeance, clutching Hush with a fury ill-contained. Neo can bide her time, when the girls were either separated or weakened, for now, she was content to observe, and let her drive stew further.
Patience was a trick well-taught by Roman, after all.
Their silence prompted Zelda's foot forward, "Please," Imploring mixed with desperation, the young lost royal's voice almost cracked, "You must tell me, were you summoned to combat the approaching Calamity?" Yet before any further inquiries can be made by both ends-
CLASH
The sound of swords exchanged, not too far from them, inciting the five heads to turn. Without words, they hurried over, curious about the commotion.
In the form of their blond-haired friend facing off against another blond, Crocea Mors and Master Sword fought with brilliant, heated precision. Zelda skidded to a halt, blinking in annoyed realization; So THIS was why my so-called 'knight' wasn't here when I needed him!
"Jaune!" Ruby exclaimed in relief, happy another friend was safe... Relatively. Amidst the clashing sounds of both concentrated boys, Zelda glanced to the quartet.
"A friend?"
Yang nodded, "And I'm guessing the pointy-eared guy's yours, too." The Princess frowned by that assumption, muttering softly under her breath.
"More an extension of my father's hindrance." Resentment aside, the Hylian looked on with worry, noting how well the Huntsman fared against the Chosen Hero, but still. "Oh dear, perhaps we should intercede...?" Before someone could get hurt.
