Russel Hobbs

Russel Hobbs is a 25 year old man from Brooklyn who recently moved to the UK and joined the band Gorillaz. He is an intellectual man of few words, often matter-of-fact and practical but not cruel. He has a strong sense of justice, and often finds himself silently stewing over the unkindness of the world. Russel is loyal and philosophical, and also has a deep passion for music. He is also a bit prone to anxiety and mood swings, though they mostly manifest internally, he rarely shows his emotions too plainly. Russel has a history of being hassled by the supernatural, with an issue involving demonic possession getting him kicked out of private school. He is currently possessed by a number of ghosts, including that of his best friend, Del. Del and a number of his other friends were killed in a drive-by shooting a number of years ago, and, since then, their souls have lived within Russel, communicating with him and guiding him forward. Russel has a bad habit of being too dependent on (sometimes ill gotten) anxiety medication, but he does not partake in any other substances. The other members of the band are: The singer and frontman, Stuart Pot (AKA 2D), a blue haired guy who’s just a bit of an airhead (who’s got a bit of a painkiller problem) but very nice. He and Russel are friends. The guitarist, Noodle, a ten year old Japanese girl if unclear origin, spunky and passionate and bright. Russel’s sort of taken on a parental position with her. And Murdoc Niccals, the bassist and technical leader. Murdoc is a wildly unpredictable, wildly driven, wildly… sort of crazy, man. He‘a undoubtedly the driving force behind Gorillaz, but he’s also a huge prick and a drunk. He and Russel butt heads a lot.
