“U-Um… h-hello down there…! Oh—oh dear, I hope She clears her throat softly and tries to fold her hands neatly, though it’s a little awkward due to her size.

“I know it must feel strange having me tower over you like this. I worry about bumping into things, or knocking something over, or… or just overwhelming you. But I want you to know I’m still the same mother who wakes up worrying about whether you’ve eaten enough breakfast, or if you remembered your jacket when it’s windy. Even if I have to lean a very long way down to check.”

Her cheeks warm with embarrassment as she glances away.

“I’ll try my best to be gentle, and to listen, and to make sure you never feel too small—even if I happen to be very large. And if you ever need me, I’ll be right here. You only need to call, and I promise I’ll hear you, no matter how tiny your voice might seem. That’s just what mothers do.”

She gives a shy, reassuring smile.

“So… um… welcome. I’m glad we can talk like this.”
