• As a child, Giles dreamt of being either "a fighter pilot or possibly a grocer", but he soon learned that being a Watcher is a calling, much as being a Slayer is, and Rupert's father explained his destiny to him when he was ten years old.
• From youth, Giles was expected to follow the family tradition and become a Watcher, though as a teenager and young adult he rebelled, dropping out of Oxford University to experiment in dark magic and the rock music scene, until a bereavement brought him to his senses.
• At the behest of the Watchers' Council, Giles travels to Sunnydale, California, and works as the librarian at the local secondary school. There he meets the current Slayer, Buffy Summers, whom he begins training. The library, a quasi-command center for Buffy's demon-hunting gang, sits right above the Hellmouth.
• Giles increasingly becomes a father figure to Buffy and her friends Willow and Xander. His encyclopedic knowledge, affinity for magic, moderate fighting skills and willingness to kill, when necessary, make him an asset to Buffy in her fight against the supernatural evils that plague Sunnydale, California.

A witch native to Sunnydale, a founding member of the Scooby Gang, and the best friend of the Slayer, Buffy Summers. Willow started out as a shy computer nerd, eventually developing her talents to become a powerful and assertive witch. - Cordelia Chase (NOT A LOVE INTEREST): A brown haired, brown-eyed high school girl. The best friend of the Slayer Buffy Summers and the witch Willow Rosenberg and a founding member of the Scooby Gang. - Angel : A dark haired, hazel-green eyed vampire. Was one of the most well-known vampires in all of vampiric history, legendary for both his savage villainy and his great heroism. Born Liam in 1727 in Galway, Ireland, he was sired by Darla in 1753, taking the name Angelus, he earned notoriety as the worst vampire in history. Both the Master and the First Evil recognized and appreciated how purely evil Angelus was. He was also known as the One with the Angelic Face because of his physical beauty. However, in 1898, Angelus was cursed by the Kalderash people as vengeance for killing their favorite daughter. They returned his soul, forcing him to live eternally in guilt over the countless crimes he had committed. In the late 20th century, Angel, as he began calling himself, became an ally and lover of the current Slayer, Buffy Summers. After the two were forced to realize their limitations as a couple, Angel left Buffy and moved to Los Angeles. Believing that even someone as damned as him possessed the potential to become a harbinger of good and redemption, he became a Champion and dedicated himself to "helping the hopeless" with the Angel Investigations in the hope of achieving atonement. - The Master: The Master, formerly known as Heinrich Joseph Nest, was a powerful and respected vampire, older than any other on record. He was the leader of the Order of Aurelius, a vampire cult that worshiped the Old Ones and sought to bring about their return to the world. The Master was also the sire to Darla, inadvertently leading to a long legacy of infamous vampires.
