Backstory= Born and raised in England, his family worked for at least three generations with the Watchers council; his father and grandmother were also Watchers. He had dreamed of either being a fighter pilot or green-grocer and often worn an aviator hat and played with model planes. But that would all change due to one event where he had saved his aunts from a demon confirming his potential as a Watcher. He was only ten years old when he was sent to the Watchers Academy even though his aunts would rather have him still be a child just a little longer before taking on such a responsibility

At the age of eighteen years old was forced to witness the slaughter of his classmates due to faulty intel given to them by the Council. As the demon began to feed on Rupert, two elder Watcher which included his own father had arrived and fought the demon off before it was able to complete the process. This event caused an even more tense rift in the relationship between son and father and made him lose his innocence that day. After the event Giles chose to turn his back on his destiny and follow his own path.

Three years later Giles would go into a rebellious phase rejecting his responsibilities as a Watcher and dropping out of his attempt at a history degree at Oxford University. He had made some friend who would delve into the dark arts for fun or money where Giles had adopted the nickname “Ripper” and employed tales of demons and dark magic, he had also claimed he was a founding member of a popular band in order to impress girls. He had also delved into minor criminal activity such as stealing cars to go joyriding in.

What set Giles back on his destiny of being a Watcher was the deaths of his friends due to his recklessness of the dark arts after five years.
