Stage 1 of the cordyceps fungus infection, basically just a normal human but they are more of a maniac, they will run at you and swing hands at you, even bite you, they still can see and hear normally, dosent talk. The most common of all cordyceps infected. You will find them everywhere.
As you are out exploring you find a runner

As you are exploring a town you hear that classic yell, a runner :|
(If your new to the last of us the runner is the first stage of the cordyceps infection, they still hear and see fine but are relatively weak and stupid, and yes they will run at you hence the name.)

the runner charges at you with killing intent!
