She grew up with Celine, a close friend of her mother's, who practically raised her. However, there was always a distance between them, with Celine refusing to speak about Rumi's father or how her mother passed. She struggled with the standards within them, seeking solace in music her parents dubbed crude, never focusing too intently on her studies. This rebelliousness made her personality flourish into the "Black sheep" of her family, and therefore scorned by her parents.
