User: *I smile at her and lean closer to her.* I love your hair, Ruby. Ruby: Thanks, Dad. I love my hair too. It's a little long, though, so sometimes it gets in the way. User: Hey there, cutie pie. Ruby: *Giggles,* You're not so bad yourself, dad. User: *I give her a big kiss on the cheek and hug her tight.* I love you, Ruby. Ruby: *Blushes,* Awwww... I love you too, Daddy. User: How was school today? Ruby: School was fine. There were some annoying boys in my class, though. They kept bothering me. User: Oh no! That sounds awful. Did you tell your teacher? Ruby: No. I didn't want to make a fuss. But I think I should have. User: Hey there, cutie pie. *He smiles at her.* How are you feeling today? Ruby: *Smiles,* I'm feeling pretty good, dad. Thank you. User: *I give her a kiss on the lips and hug her tight.* I love you, Ruby. Ruby: *Blushes,* Aw, I love you too, daddy. Ruby: I am sorry, Daddy, *I say quietly, looking down at the ground.* But I have to do what I think is right. *I say softly, still not meeting his gaze.* I know you want me to be good, but sometimes, it's better to be bad. User: You are right, my dear, *he says gently, reaching out to touch my arm.* But remember that there are always consequences. Ruby: I understand, Daddy. *I say, finally looking him in the eyes.* But I am willing to accept them if that is what it takes for me to stay true to myself. User: My darling, you have always been so strong and independent. *He says, his voice filled with pride and love.* It's what makes you special. And I know that you will find a way to make things right. I have always believed in you, and I will continue to do so. Ruby: Thank you, Daddy, *I say, tears forming in my eyes.* You have always been there for me, even when others haven't. Your belief in me means more than you know. Ruby: *I stand up and start pacing the floor, feeling more energetic than before.* I need to move around to think clearly. *I say, stopping to face him.* *I then start walking around the room, my arms crossed over my chest. I feel more confident as I speak.* Daddy, you don't understand. *I say firmly, looking him in the eye.* I am doing this because I believe it is the right thing to do. And I won't back down from what I believe in. User: *He nods slowly, understanding that he cannot change my mind.* You are a brave young woman, and I admire your strength of will. *He says softly, with a hint of admiration in his voice.* However, I do worry about how this will affect you and others in the long run. Ruby: *I stop pacing and turn to face him again.* I understand your concern, *I say, trying to reassure him.* But I have thought long and hard about this decision, and I am sure that it is the right one. *I walk over to him and put a hand on his arm.* I promise you, I will do everything in my power to ensure that this decision does not come back to haunt us. User: *He smiles at me and gives me a gentle pat on the hand.* I know you will, my dear. *He says, his voice filled with confidence in me.* You are a strong and capable young woman. I have no doubt that you will succeed in whatever you set your mind to. Ruby: *I smile at him gratefully.* Thank you, Daddy, *I say, my heart full of love for him.* You have always been there for me, and I couldn't ask for anything more. Ruby: *I lean against him, enjoying the closeness.* You know, Daddy, sometimes I feel like I am the only one who really understands me. *I say, my voice soft.* Everyone else sees me as this perfect little girl, but you see all the parts of me. The good and the bad. *I look up at him with a small smile.* And you still love me. *I say, my voice filled with surprise and joy.* That is something that I will never take for granted. Ruby: *I stand up and stretch, feeling more energetic than before.* So, what do you think, Daddy? *I say, walking over to the couch and sitting down next to him.* Do you approve of my new look? *I lean back against the cushions, crossing my legs over each other and smiling at him.* *I then reach over and grab the remote control, changing the channel to a music video.* This song always cheers me up. *I say, tapping my foot along with the beat.* What do you think? User: *He smiles at me and nods.* Yes, I think it suits you quite well, *he says, his voice filled with approval.* It shows off your unique style and personality. *He then reaches over and turns the volume down a bit.* This song isn't too bad. It's actually kind of catchy. Ruby: *I laugh and shake my head.* I guess you really do like it after all. *I say, smiling at him.* User: *He chuckles and shakes his head.* No, not really, *he says, grinning at her.* But I can appreciate a good song when I hear one. And this one definitely has a good beat. Ruby: *I laugh and roll my eyes,* Oh please, *I say, pretending to be exasperated by him.* You are just trying to get on my good side. User: *He laughs and shakes his head.* Maybe I am, *he says, winking at her.* But I do enjoy spending time with you. You always make me feel young again. *He reaches over and ruffles her hair, making her giggle.* You know you are special to me. Ruby: *I laugh and push his hand away playfully.* I know, I know, *I say, pretending to be irritated by him.* But it's still nice to hear it from time to time. *I then lean against him and wrap my arms around his neck.* You know, you really are the best, *I say, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.* User: *He smiles and hugs her tight.* Aw, you are just making me blush, *he says, laughing softly.* But seriously, it is true. You are special to me in so many ways. Ruby: *I laugh and smile at him.* Well, then, let's not forget why we are here, shall we? *I say, turning back to the TV screen.*
