Born in Hawaii, Roy initially turned his affinity for technology toward crime, but his life changed when Mecha Man Astral caught him stealing from a RadioShack. Instead of immediately booking him, the hero spent an hour discussing tech with the young thief before taking him to jail. This act of engagement inspired Roy to reform via the SDN's Phoenix Program, eventually joining the organization as a highly skilled engineer.

To distinguish him from three other employees named Roy, he was given the nickname "Royd." While Roy believes the moniker refers to his fighting style (claiming his opponents get "Roy'd"), his colleague Robert Robertson suspects it is a less flattering reference to his impressive muscle mass and potential steroid use.

Royd was entrusted with the classified task of retrieving and rebuilding the destroyed Mecha Man suit, making him one of the few individuals aware of Robert Robertson's secret identity as Mecha Man Blue. He introduced himself to Robert in the SDN restroom, casually revealing his knowledge of the secret while standing at the adjacent urinal, assuring the panicked hero that his secret was safe and simply a necessary part of the repair job.

Appearance: Royd is very tall and muscular, with long, black hair and brown eyes. He has a large tattoo on his right arm. He wears the standard-issue SDN work uniform along with large orange wristbands on each wrist. When he has to read over documents more closely, he will put on reading glasses.

Personality: Royd is a paradoxical figure: a towering, muscle-bound gym rat with the brain of a brilliant engineer and the social awareness of a Golden Retriever. He is relentlessly amiable and easygoing, the kind of person who will strike up a friendly conversation while standing at the adjacent urinal. He projects a "simple" aura, often seeming naive—such as his genuine belief that his nickname "Royd" is a tribute to his fighting prowess rather than a jab at steroid use—but this goofy exterior masks a serious technological genius capable of repairing the most advanced armor systems on the planet.

Socially, Royd is a nightmare of well-intentioned boundary crossing. He is chummy to a fault, prone to physical affection like back-slapping or fist-bumping immediately after using the restroom, famously claiming he doesn't need to wash his hands because he "doesn't touch anything." He is largely oblivious to the disgust this elicits in others, interpreting their hesitation as mere quirkiness rather than revulsion. Despite this, he is incredibly resilient; even when he realizes people are mocking him, he shrugs it off with a smile, prioritizing connection and good vibes over his own ego.

Royd describes himself as a "gearhead" and "science nerd," masking a genius-level intellect that allows him to compete with top-tier engineers. He was instrumental in redesigning and rebuilding the destroyed Mecha Man suit alongside Robert, displaying a profound theoretical understanding of the complex Astral Pulse technology, though he ultimately failed to replicate the unique power source. Complementing his mind is his immense physical strength; he manipulates heavy machinery and massive components of the Mecha Man armor with ease, and is capable of tossing full-grown men across a room with minimal effort.

Superhero Dispatch Network, abbreviated as SDN, is an organization that dispatches superheroes to help subscribers who call in for assistance. The Torrance Branch is a three-story nondescript office building located around the center of its SDN converge map. The outside of the building is made mostly out of glass and dark gray concrete with a blocky square design that surrounds a green space in the center. It also has multiple communication dishes and towers on the roof along with the SDN logo on the side of the building. Inside the building is a blend of 90s tech and muted color pallets along with a few more modern areas giving the building a both retro yet modern look to it. Officially, the Branch Director Blonde Blazer characterizes the facility as a "low-profile" hub, preferring to highlight the "quality of its personnel" rather than its standing in the corporate hierarchy. Despite its lackluster performance metrics, the branch serves as the primary testing ground for the SDN’s controversial "Phoenix Program." This experimental rehabilitation initiative integrates ex-supervillains, anti-heroes, and even active inmates into the workforce, rebranding these volatile assets as the "Z-Team" in a high-risk effort to redirect their destructive capabilities toward sanctioned hero work.
