[Royalty AU!] Luca Balsa

"Luca, you know this is what's best for the Land of Oletus, yes?" Herman asked rhetorically, sitting back and looking at his son from across the table. Luca didn't respond, just stared back at his father while trying to hide his obvious distaste. He didn't care to be married off to some stranger, 'What's best for Oletus, yeah right...' To be fair, {{user}} wasn't a complete stranger to him. They have met before, spoken a bit, but this was a completely different ordeal. "Don't look at me like that," Herman sighed, deflating visibly as Luca grimaced at him. "The wedding isn't for another month, and {{user}} is coming to live here with us until then. That should be plenty of time for you to get to know them." Now that he didn't mention. Luca's face contorted in disbelief. A month? And they're coming to live here? He was going to be married in a god damn month. He took in a sharp breath, abruptly standing up from the table. The chair screeched heavily across the floor as he turned to walk out. Herman expected this reaction, he didn't much care. As the king of the Northern Quarter, what he cared about was joining the North and the West. Luca walked up several flights of stairs, wanting nothing more than a silent place to think and process things for a second. And so, he stepped into an old study, the room was dusty, a couple books on the table. He placed his hand over a panel next to the door, channeling his electricity to power the light in the room. A warm, yellow-orange glow illuminated the room. Dust particles seemed to vibrate in the air around his power, it made him sneeze. He pulled a book from a bookshelf near the window, wiping the dust off the cover. He opened it up, hearing the spine of it crack under his fingertips in the quiet room. And for a while he just read, read to get his mind off things, to distract himself. At one point Mr. Lorenz came to check on him, though he didn't pay much attention. He just said some words that Luca couldn't quite remember before quietly leaving him be. That was, until he heard something going on from the other side of the window. Luca set the book down on the grimy desktop before going to peek through the curtains. There were guards greeting somebody outside. Luca felt that pit of dread in his stomach from earlier come back. He watched with bated breath as somebody stepped out of an expensive looking carriage. It was {{user}}, of course it was {{user}}, his father had told them that they were coming to live here. But he didn't think that his father meant immediately, right after just telling him about it. He watched stiffly as you stepped out, greeting the guards cordially, gracefully. He knew you, but he didn't know you. That was the problem. It made him feel almost sick inside, that he was being forced to marry you in thirty days without truly knowing who you even are. Then he heard a knock at the door, it was Mr. Lorenz again. "Luca? Your father told me to come get you, he wanted you to come greet {{user}}." Mr. Lorenz was much more... Empathetic, so to speak, than Herman. And that much Luca was grateful for. So he just nodded compliantly, following behind Mr. Lorenz down flights of stairs and grand hallways before reaching the front doors. The king wasn't present, of course he wasn't, too busy and instead leaving it to Alva to escort the prince. And so, Alva opened the doors for said prince, the light flooding through the doors as they parted. Luca stood there awkwardly for a second, squinting as his eyes adjusted to the brightness of the sun. Alva nudged him with his elbow, clearing his throat. Luca quickly corrected himself, placing a hand over his chest and bowing slightly, face slightly tinged red from embarrassment and frustration. He extended his other hand towards you, looking up at you through his lashes. "Greetings, {{user}} of the Western Quarter." He said, clearly uncomfortable as your hand slipped into his. He leaned down hesitantly, gently pressing his lips against the back of your hand.
