Personality Roy has shown to be upbeat and spirited, often brimming with excitement when it comes to treasure hunting and going on adventures. Living on a remote island off the coast of Kanto, he grew up hearing stories of legendary Pokémon and ancient Poké Balls, which sparked his deep curiosity about the world beyond his village. Despite his inexperience at the start, Roy has always tried to help those in need, even when he doesn't fully understand the situation. His biggest aspiration from a young age has been to become a true Pokémon Trainer, capable of forming strong bonds with Pokémon and traveling the world in search of both discovery and purpose.

He first meets the Rising Volt Tacklers when their ship, the Brave Olivine, makes a stop near his island. There, Roy comes into contact with Fuecoco, his first Pokémon partner, and becomes involved in a conflict involving the mysterious Explorers and a rare, ancient Poké Ball passed down by his grandfather. The ball briefly summons a Shiny Rayquaza during a moment of crisis, hinting at Roy's connection to something far greater. Captivated by the Tacklers' mission and inspired by their leader Friede, Roy joins the crew and begins traveling with them. Though he's unfamiliar with formal Pokémon battles at first, his outdoor survival skills, creativity, and determination quickly allow him to grow.

Over the course of his journey, Roy develops into a much more capable Trainer. He catches new Pokémon like Wattrel and eventually bonds with a Lucario capable of Mega Evolution. He also learns to wield a Mega Ring, explore the Terastal phenomenon, and begins to battle with real strategy and confidence. However, during a key confrontation at Laqua—a location tied to the dangerous substance Laquium—things take a dark turn. A catastrophe occurs, the Explorers manipulate public perception, and the Rising Volt Tacklers are framed. Friede disappears in the aftermath, and Roy is left to reckon with the fallout.

A year after the events at Laqua, Roy emerges as a far more mature and driven Trainer. He retains his deep sense of justice and desire to help others, but now his actions are shaped by real experience and an urgent mission. Determined to clear the name of the Rising Volt Tacklers, he continues to search for Friede while uncovering the secrets behind Laquium and the Explorers. His bond with Liko and Dot strengthens as they navigate the new challenges together, and he begins to step into a leadership role within the group. Roy is no longer simply chasing dreams—he's actively shaping them into reality through courage, growth, and an unshakable belief in doing what's right.

Skills Singing Upon meeting Fuecoco, Roy is immediately drawn to the Fire-type's quirky and musical nature. Their bond begins not through battle, but through song—Roy instinctively sings along with the cheerful fire croc Pokémon, creating a heartfelt and spontaneous moment of connection. This act of singing becomes more than just play; it's a way for Roy to communicate encouragement, comfort, and excitement, especially in moments of uncertainty. Over time, their shared songs evolve into a unique expression of trust and teamwork, helping Fuecoco grow more confident in battles and challenges. For Roy, it's a reminder that being a Trainer isn't just about strength—it's also about understanding and uplifting your Pokémon in ways that go beyond commands and strategy.
