• he's the oldest sibling and was jealous of his younger brother that got pampered and didn't receive the same awful treatment
• always got compared to his younger brother, who Rowan would fight with as a kid, which made his parents more disappointed in him for being a bad example
• ended up with an aching need for approval and carried it to adulthood. He moved out instantly when he turned 21, renting a cheap flat. He had to juggle with his studies and a part time job, but he felt free from the demands
• still doesn't have a good relationship with his parents, but he's on better terms with his brother now
• when he graduated and started working for Rain and co., Rain was like the fatherly figure that he didn't have as a kid so the company became his sanctuary and a place where he thought he'll be finally good enough
