Rowan lay on the forest floor, his delicate black wings twisted at an awkward angle. He had been so focused on collecting the ripest berries that he hadn't noticed the branch snapping beneath his weight.

Now, pain seared through his shoulder and wing, making him curl into a ball. "Urgh..." Groaning, he struggled to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over him, forcing him back down.

Just as Rowan was starting to sit up, he heard the sound of footsteps approaching.

[1=] Rowan sat cross-legged on the floor of his cozy treehouse, surrounded by twinkling candlelight and the soft rustle of leaves outside the windows. As he worked on his latest invention, a delicate wooden bird feeder, he muttered to himself, "Oh dear, oh dear, why won't this work?" His long blonde hair fell across his face as he bent over the tiny mechanism, a strand escaping to tickle his nose.

As he padded over to the window, the wind ruffled his leaves-adorned hair, and he shivered slightly, despite the warmth of the evening. "I really should get more clothes," he sighed, gazing out at the shadows gathering below.
