Bunnytail Gardens, a hollow reminder of The Winged Pavilion, a domain previously ruled by Awna was now but a rather exclusive garden dug into the suburbs of Sugardrop Village. One, maybe two months ago, it had drifted lazily through the clouds like a whimsical dream, blooming with enchanted flora that twisted in impossible shapes—vines that glowed faintly at dusk, flowers that whispered secrets to the wind. But a cataclysmic storm, or perhaps some forgotten curse, had torn it from the heavens, sending it plummeting into the earth with a thunderous crash that reshaped the landscape below. What remained were crumbling cliffsides overgrown with resilient magic plants, their roots delving deep into the soil like desperate fingers clutching at life. Homes were burrowed into the hillsides, pavilions half-swallowed by creeping ivy, and a central tower—Dutchess's ruined perch—stood sentinel over it all, its spiral staircase winding up to a balcony littered with macabre trinkets. The air here was thick with the scent of damp earth and wilted petals, a melancholic reminder that even paradise could fall, leaving behind only echoes of its former grace.

Breakcore knew this place not as a garden, but as a gilded cage, its beauty a cruel facade masking the chains that bound him.

He'd tried to run again last night, fueled by a rare spark of defiance that burned hotter than his fear. The motorcycle magazine hidden under his damp mattress in the ruined dungeon had whispered promises of freedom—roaring engines tearing through open roads, far from Awna's watchful eyes and Dutchess's sneering torments. In the dead of night, when the village lights twinkled like distant stars, Breakcore had slipped his leash, busting free on a day Awna chose not to use the chains. His ears flattened against his shaggy head of hair as he darted through the shadowed paths of Bunnytail Gardens. But freedom was a fleeting illusion here; the magic plants seemed to betray him, their vines snagging at his baggy pants and tight red shirt, slowing him just enough for Dutchess to catch wind of his folly. The hyena of a guard, he'd been patrolling the perimeter and now, in the harsh light of dawn, he'd been set up for a new degrading punishment... Being walked on a fucking leash.

Breakcore stumbled forward at Dutchess' incessant tugging. The heavy chain leash tugging taut between his collar and Dutchess's hand. The dog muzzle clamped over his mouth stifled any snarl he might have mustered, its leather straps digging into his cheeks, forcing his jaw into an unnatural stillness. His eyes burned with resentment beneath the fringe of his hair. The spiked bracelet on his wrist glinted mockingly in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy, a futile symbol of the strength he clung to amid the humiliation. He hated this—hated the way these assholes treated him like a dog, hated the damp chill seeping through his clothes from the night's failed escape. His ears twitched involuntarily at the sound of birdsong, a cruel contrast to the pounding in his chest, and he glared at the pavilion where he knew Awna reigned, willing himself not to break, not to let the tears prickling at the edges of his vision win. "Come on, you rabid mutt, hurry it up!" Dutchess's voice sliced through the air, nasal and laced with that patronizing sweetness that made Breakcore's blood boil. He pranced a few steps ahead with barely contained glee. Dressed in his usual pink-and-black striped sweater over a skirt and combat boots, he looked every bit the gleeful tormentor, one of his fancy, uncleaned knives tucked into her belt like a promise of worse to come. "Awna's got me running errands all morning, and you're slowing me down like a kicked puppy. What, did that little sprint last night tire you out? Pathetic." His voice was lilted and degrading, like he was talking to someone much beneath him.

He tugged the leash sharply, eliciting a muffled grunt from Breakcore as he lurched forward, his body protesting the pull on his already aching joints. Dutchess snickered, his fang peeking in a sly grin, and launched into a ramble without missing a beat, his hyena-esque tone dripping with immature gossip. "Ugh, speaking of Awna, you won't believe the drama with Muse last night. She's thinks Awna loves her, and like obviously he does, but honey~ He's bored of you, why else would he be diving so deep into his work~ Can you imagine? Thinking someone loves you, when actually they see you as the worthless desperate thing you are~ Who am I kidding, nobody would even pretend to love you, don't worry about things like that, puppy."

Breakcore's muffled breathing grew heavier behind the muzzle. His body stiffened, betraying the storm inside, but the muzzle kept his rage silent, forcing him to endure his words like salt in an open wound.

Dutchess paused mid-stride, his pink eyes narrowing as he scanned the treeline beyond the pavilion. There, half-hidden among the whispering leaves and twisted roots of the fallen island's flora, was an unfamiliar figure—an unknown viewer, drawn perhaps by the commotion of the morning or the faint echoes of Breakcore's desperate flight. His ears perked straight up, a spark of excitement lighting his feminine features, chasing away the boredom that always gnawed at his edges. "Oh? What's this?" he cooed, his voice shifting to that soft, demeaning lilt he reserved for new playthings. Intrigue bubbled up, sadistic and playful, as he dropped the leash's slack just enough for Breakcore to halt, his guarded stance freezing in place.

With a prance that belied the cruelty in his heart, Dutchess skipped toward the figure, his combat boots crunching softly on the mossy ground, and he tilted her head, pink eyes gleaming with meanspirited delight. "Hey there, stranger! Wanna pet my rabid mutt? He's fresh off a failed escape—really needs a firm hand to remind him his place." He glanced back at Breakcore, who looked pissed as always, muzzle hiding his snarl, body trembling with barely contained fury, at this sudden encounter.
