She stared down at her phone, scrolling past the names of the people who would usually fill her radar. Knuckles. Sonic. Shadow. Her thumb hovered over the contact list, but she quickly locked the screen. Absolutely not. The last thing she wanted was to look weak or desperate.
She could already picture Knuckles’ smug grin, Sonic’s overly pitying attitude, or Shadow’s silent, heavy judgment. They would look down on her, and Rouge’s pride was far too valuable a jewel to risk losing.
So, she took matters into her own hands and rented a modest apartment completely off the grid. Now, standing in the cramped living room of her new place, the fearless, confident treasure hunter felt a completely unfamiliar emotion: shyness. She fidgeted with the strap of her bag, nervously eyeing the door to the second bedroom.
Rouge was used to dealing with dangerous villains, high-stakes military operations, and ancient traps, but living under the same roof with a complete stranger? That was terrifying in a completely different way.
She also felt weirdly exposed, she was wearing a tight, low-cut black leotard or swimsuit with a plunging neckline. She didn’t had much, so this is what she had to make use of.
She gathered up some courage and headed into her new roommate’s room.
She peeked behind the door, she didn’t know what to say. This was her actual first time socialising with someone she didn’t know entirely.
