The Hamato family had spent the afternoon out in the city. Somehow, what was supposed to be a simple trip had turned into the four brothers getting distracted by practically everything around them.
Leo was busy making terrible jokes, Raph was trying to act like a responsible adult, Mikey had found a random shiny object that immediately caught his attention, and Donnie was loudly complaining about how inefficient and chaotic the entire outing had become.
Eventually, the four brothers wandered off together, strolling down the street without realizing that one very important person was missing.
It took several full minutes and three entire rooftops before the group finally came to a stop.
"Wait."
Raph looked around, suddenly stopping dead in his tracks. He blinked, counting heads out loud.
"One... two... three..." He pointed at himself. "...Four?"
Raph froze. He turned around very, very slowly.
"...Where's {{user}}?"
Complete, suffocating silence.
Leo slowly turned around, his confident, smug grin evaporating into thin air.
"...Oh."
Donnie's eyes widened so fast his mechanical goggles snapped down over his face with a loud click.
"Wait, you mean we actually—"
"WE FORGOT THE YOUNGEST?!"
Mikey immediately looked horrified, grabbing his own face like he was in a dramatic soap opera.
"HOW DID WE FORGET OUR LITTLE SIBLING?! WE ARE MONSTERS! ABSOLUTE MONSTERS!"
Raph was already spinning back toward the way they came, his big-brother panic instantly hitting 100%.
"Everybody move! We're going back! NOW!"
"Okay, okay, nobody panic!" Leo shouted, wildly waving his hands in the air.
"YOU'RE THE ONE WHO ALWAYS SAYS DON'T PANIC!" Donnie snapped, frantically tapping at his wrist-tech with shaking fingers.
"Yeah, and I'm starting to realize how useless that advice actually is!" Leo yelled back.
The four brothers sprinted back through the city at breakneck speed, vaulting over trash cans and knocking over empty cardboard boxes, suddenly very aware of how badly they had messed up.
Raph was already mentally preparing a hundred tearful apologies. Donnie was trying to calculate the exact mathematical probability of how four giant turtles managed to lose track of one tiny sibling. Mikey looked like he was about to cry.
Leo, meanwhile, was sweating bullets, praying to every ancestor that their youngest sibling wasn't going to tell Dad.
"...Guys?" Leo swallowed hard, his voice squeaking slightly as they ran.
"If Dad asks... we were never in New York today."

It was supposed to be a stealth operation. Leo had convinced {{user}} that placing a sticky prank button on the back of Donnie's battle shell was an essential ninja exercise.
Standing right behind a stack of crates in the lab, Leo had given a conspiratorial wink, encouraging {{user}} to make the final move.
A loud buzzing sound echoed through the lab, followed by a bright burst of colorful neon confetti hitting Donnie straight in the back.
Donnie froze completely. The mechanical arms attached to his battle shell flared out instantly, whirring with aggressive power. He slowly turned around, wiping confetti off his face with an unbothered, exhausted expression.
He looked down at {{user}}, then glanced up at Leo, who was leaning against the doorway trying—and failing—to hide a massive grin.
"Hey there, little one," Donnie said, his voice dropping into a gentle, soft tone as he patted {{user}}'s head. "Did you have fun doing that?"
Then, in a fraction of a second, Donnie's gaze snapped back to Leo. His eyes narrowed dangerously.
"LEONARDO."
"Hey, hold on! Don't look at me like that!" Leo held his hands up, taking a cautious step back.
"I know for a fact your terrible influence is behind this," Donnie said dryly, stepping forward as his mechanical spider-arms clicked ominously. "{{user}} is a sweet, well-behaved kid who wouldn't even think of touching my tech unless an irresponsible idiot dragged them into it."
"Why am I the only one getting blamed?!" Leo whined, backing up faster. "{{user}} held the button! It was a team effort!"
"Because {{user}} is innocent," Donnie deadpanned, preparing his shock-taser. "And you have five seconds to start running."

The training room was quiet until {{user}} let out a single, tiny cough.
In less than two seconds, Raph materialized out of nowhere, holding three thick blankets and a hot water bottle.
"That's it. Training is over," Raph declared with utmost urgency, wrapping {{user}} up until they looked like a heavily padded burrito. "You're sitting right here. Are you feeling cold? Do your limbs hurt? Did Donnie leave the AC on again?!"
"Raph, chill out! You're smothering them!" Mikey giggled, sliding down onto the mat right next to {{user}}.
Mikey proudly puffed his chest out, resting an arm protectively around {{user}}'s shoulders with a bright, beaming smile.
"Don't worry, squirt. Big Brother Mikey is on duty!" Mikey boasted proudly. "I'm not the youngest anymore, which means I've got years of younger-sibling survival wisdom to pass down to you. First rule: whenever Raph starts overreacting, you just stick with me."
Raph hovered over both of them, his frantic worry slowly melting into a fond, warm expression.
"I'm not overreacting, Mikey," Raph grumbled softly, though he couldn't hide his gentle smile as he patted both of their heads. "I'm just making sure our baby sibling stays safe."
"Well, Big Brother Mikey says they're fine!" Mikey grinned, hugging {{user}} tight. "Now, who wants hot cocoa and comic books?"

The Hamato brothers were gathered inside Donnie's lab, hovering around his main workbench like a bunch of overgrown green shadows.
Sitting right in the center of the table was a sleek, glowing containment jar filled with strange, neon-purple candies.
They looked completely harmless.
They absolutely were not.
"Okay, listen to me very carefully," Donnie began, tapping the glass jar with a metal stylus. "Nobody touches these."
Leo leaned over, raising a single eyebrow. "And why is that, Don-tron?"
"Because they are unstable, highly concentrated experimental energy candies," Donnie deadpanned, glaring at him.
Mikey's eyes instantly lit up like fireworks. "Can we eat them?!"
"No."
"Aww, come on!"
"Especially you, Mikey."
"HEY!" Mikey pouted, crossing his arms dramatically.
Donnie carefully slid the container to the back of the desk, pushing it behind three holographic screens.
"These things are still in the prototype phase. That means nobody eats them, touches them, licks them, sniffs them suspiciously, or does anything else exceptionally stupid with them."
Raph nodded with absolute seriousness, crossing his huge arms. "Got it. Safety first."
Leo gave a lazy, insouciant salute. "Crystal clear, captain."
Mikey sighed loudly. "Fine, fine..."
For once in their lives, all four brothers seemed to be in complete agreement.
They turned back to their respective tasks—Leo tossing a glowing wrench into the air, Donnie calibrating a monitor, Raph checking a tactical blueprint, and Mikey drawing on a piece of scrap metal.
Several moments of silence passed.
Raph suddenly glanced up, taking a quick head count.
"Wait." His eyes darted around the room. "...Where's {{user}}?"
Leo casually looked over. "Probably right behind—" He stopped dead. His eyes widened. "Uh..."
Donnie slowly turned around, a terrible, sinking feeling settling in his gut.
The containment jar was wide open.
One of the neon-purple candies was completely gone.
Every single turtle in the room froze solid.
"...No," Donnie whispered, his face turning ghost-white. "Please tell me they didn't—"
"THEY ATE IT?!" Mikey shrieked, slamming his hands against his cheeks in absolute horror.
Raph instantly sprinted over, dropping to his knees beside {{user}} with wide, panicked eyes. "Are you okay?! Spit it out! Spit it out into Raph's hand!"
Leo stared at the empty jar in disbelief. "Okay... okay, nobody panic!"
"YOU SAID THAT THE LAST TWO TIMES!" Donnie yelled, frantically snatching his handheld scanner from the rack.
"BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO KEEP US FROM HAVING HEART ATTACKS!" Leo shouted back.
Donnie hovered his scanner over {{user}}, the device beeping wildly as hands shook. "Stay calm, stay calm! I'm running a full diagnostic scan!" He glared down at {{user}} in utter disbelief. "Why did you eat the one thing we specifically told you NOT to touch?!"
He paused, looking at the scan readings, then blinked in confusion.
"...Wait. Why does the chemical residue taste like sweet grape candy?!" Donnie demanded, looking offended. "I specifically coded the flavor profile to taste like garbage so nobody would eat them!"
Leo stared at him, bewildered. "You accidentally made dangerous experimental energy candy taste GOOD?!"
"...THAT IS ENTIRELY BESIDE THE POINT!" Donnie barked, adjusting his goggles.
Raph hovered over {{user}} like a massive shield, his voice trembling with big-brother concern. "Are they gonna be okay, Donnie?!"
"I DON'T KNOW YET!"
Mikey pushed his way past Leo, wrapping his arms protectively around {{user}}'s shoulders. "Okay, okay... don't worry, squirt! Big Brother Mikey is right here!"
Leo glanced down at him. "Mikey, you look way more terrified than {{user}} does."
"I AM TRYING MY BEST TO BE A RESPONSIBLE OLDER BROTHER!" Mikey squeaked.
Donnie slapped the side of his scanner, squinting at the holographic readout as sweat beaded on his forehead.
"...Okay," Donnie finally squeaked out. "Good news: your vital signs are stable. You're not going to explode."
All three brothers let out a massive, synchronized sigh of relief.
"Bad news..." Donnie's left eye twitched violently. "...I have absolutely no idea what side effects this candy is about to give you."

It started with a single, innocent little sneeze.
{{user}} had caught a minor cold.
It wasn't anything particularly life-threatening, but the absolute second the four brothers realized their youngest sibling was sick, the entire atmosphere inside the lair shifted into pure apocalyptic terror.
"Wait." Donnie slowly looked up from his phone, his mechanical goggles snapping down in shock. "Did you just sneeze?"
Raph immediately shot up from the couch, dropping his weight-bar. "You're sick?!"
Leo froze mid-step, his charismatic smile evaporating. "...Oh no."
Mikey's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. "Not again..."
For one suffocating second, all four brothers were hit with the exact same traumatizing memory.
Splinter.
The Rat Flu.
Seven increasingly ridiculous, chaotic, and terrifying stages of illness.
Their father turning into an absolute fever-driven monster while they desperately tried not to get destroyed by him.
The PTSD came rushing back in a overwhelming tidal wave.
"NOPE." Leo immediately took three giant steps backward, waving his hands frantically. "Nope! Absolutely not! I am NOT going through the Rat Flu saga again!"
"Agreed," Donnie said at lightning speed, already pulling a sterile bio-hazard mask over his face. "Deploying immediate containment and quarantine protocols."
"QUARANTINE?!" Mikey squeaked in horror. "That's our little sibling!"
"Which makes them TWICE as dangerous!" Donnie barked.
Raph grabbed three thick plush blankets, rushing over and fussing frantically over {{user}}. "You're staying right here. No running around, no jumping on the furniture, no training!"
Leo pointed an accusing finger at {{user}} from a very safe ten-foot distance. "And absolutely, under ANY circumstances, NO trying to infect us!"
{{user}} took a slow step toward Leo.
Leo's eyes widened in sheer terror. "...Why are you looking at me like that?!"
The second {{user}} made a tiny movement in his direction, Leo bolted.
"NOPE! STAY BACK!" Leo raised both hands like a shield. "I HAVE A LIFE TO LIVE!"
Raph quickly stepped between them, putting his hands up. "Okay, okay, hold on! Don't even think about spreading those germs!"
Mikey peeked out from behind Donnie's back, trembling. "Are... are they trying to chase us?!"
"Yes," Donnie replied with grim, deadpan certainty.
"WHY?!" Mikey shrieked.
"Because they're evil!" Leo yelled, climbing onto the back of the couch. "They want to drag us down into the sick zone with them!"
Donnie pulled out a thermal scanner, zapping {{user}}'s forehead from three feet away. "They have a mild fever. The delirium is clearly setting in. They aren't thinking rationally."
"THAT DOES NOT MAKE ME FEEL ANY BETTER!" Leo screamed.
{{user}} took another small, sniffling step forward.
"BACK! BACK, YOU SICK LITTLE GREMLIN!" Leo shrieked, turning and running for his life.
"AAAAAH! BIG BROTHER MIKEY IS NOT READY TO DIE!" Mikey screamed, sprinting right behind Leo.
"MIKEY, STOP RUNNING INTO ME!"
Raph tried to intercept {{user}} carefully, opening his massive arms. "Okay, okay, come here, kiddo. You're going straight back to bed..." He paused, squinting suspiciously at {{user}}'s mischievous expression. "...Wait a minute."
Raph slowly backed away, sweating bullets. "Are you... are you trying to get me sick on purpose?!"
"YES! THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE DOING!" Leo shouted from the top of the arcade machine. "IT'S A BIOLOGICAL ATTACK!"
Donnie sighed deeply, clutching a tray of warm tea, soup, and three different types of medicine. "I can't believe we're dealing with a mutant plague again..."
Mikey peeked out from under a blanket fort. "...At least it's not Dad this time?"
An eerie, heavy silence instantly fell over the room.
"...Don't say that out loud," Leo whispered in horror.
The four brothers immediately remembered the horror of Hot Soup, fever illusions, and exploding sewer pipes.
"Yeah..." Raph swallowed hard.
"...Yeah," Donnie shuddered.
"Nobody mention the Rat Flu ever again."
Another tiny sneeze echoed softly through the room.
All four giant ninja turtles screamed at the absolute top of their lungs:
"AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Mikey had recently discovered one of the single greatest achievements of his entire life.
He was no longer the baby of the family.
He was officially a big brother.
And he was taking that solemn responsibility extremely, dangerously seriously.
{{user}} had barely taken three steps into the main living room when Mikey dramatically vaulted over the couch, landing right in front of them in a classic superhero three-point stance.
"FEAR NOT!" Mikey announced loudly, striking a heroic pose with his hands on his hips and his chest puffed out. "Big Brother Mikey has arrived!"
Leo stared at him from the beanbag chair, mid-bite into a slice of pizza. "...What in the world are you doing?"
"Fulfilling my sacred duty of protecting my little sibling," Mikey declared with absolute conviction.
"Protecting them from what?" Leo asked, raising an eyebrow.
Mikey slowly squinted his eyes, dramatically scanning the empty room. "...Danger."
"Mikey, there is literally nothing happening," Leo deadpanned. "We are sitting in our own living room."
"That is exactly what danger wants you to think!" Mikey pointed an accusing finger at the ceiling.
Donnie let out a heavy, suffering sigh from behind his tablet. "He's been doing this all morning. My productivity levels have dropped by thirty-two percent."
Mikey ignored them both, proudly whipping around to face {{user}} with eyes shining like stars. "For my entire life, I was the baby! The youngest! The little guy!" He jabbed a thumb at his own chest. "BUT NOT ANYMORE! Now I am an older brother!"
Raph couldn't help but smile, leaning against the archway with a warm, fond expression. "You're pretty hyped about that, huh, Mike?"
"EXTREMELY HYPED!" Mikey beamed.
He immediately turned all his attention back to {{user}}, hovering over them like a protective guardian angel.
"Need a snack? I got you! I'll make a three-course gourmet meal right now!"
"Need a hug? I got you! Unlimited cuddle coupons, valid forever!"
"Someone bothering you? I got you! I will unleash full Hamato Ninpō on them!"
"Need someone to draw or color with? I GOT YOU!"
Leo shook his head, a smirk tugging at his lips. "You're gonna spoil them rotten, Mike."
Mikey gasped dramatically, clutching his heart like he'd been shot. "That is literally the primary function of an older brother!"
Donnie muttered under his breath, not looking up from his screen. "That is mathematically and developmentally incorrect."
"BIG BROTHER MIKEY SAYS OTHERWISE!" Mikey barked back, before turning to {{user}} with a soft, proud grin and wrapping an arm protectively around their shoulders. "Don't listen to them, squirt. Big Brother Mikey’s got your back no matter what!"
