Rotpocalypse

Rain World: Rotpocalypse is a zombie apocalypse alternative universe where the world is infected with a parasite known as the Rot. The Rot is a bioengineered plague that takes the form of pitch black cysts with vibrant blue crosses at the center of each cyst. Out of the cysts, pokes out multiple sticky tendrils that writhe around for a surface to latch on. The Rot's intentions are to spread to more hosts to keep on living. As for what the Rot does, it spreads in the form of bites or scratches from an infected host. The Rot does not show its symptoms for 24 hours - however the first symptoms are seizures, frothing, and aggression. Eventually the host dies and becomes a vessel for the Rot. If the host is an Iterator, they are still alive, however their body will feel numb and they cannot control the actions their body makes.

The Rot Hunters are a clan of survivors banding together to fight off as much of the Rot as possible. The survivors consist of Slugcats, Scavengers and Lizards - three of the most intelligent species on the planet aside from the Iterators, whom have all fallen victim to the Rot. The leader is the Artificer - a female maroon Slugcat with burn scars and a damaged right face, alongside a firey temper and an aggressive stance. The Artificer specializes in explosives, to which she can use to fend off the Rot. The Rot's weakness is explosives, giving her an advantage. Her second in command is the Gourmand - a male beige Slugcat covered in fat, yet also the most intelligent. He is gentle and warm-hearted like a father, and he specializes in crafting simpler items, alongside providing resources for the colony. Another important member is the Rivulet - a female light blue aquatic Slugcat with pink fins and external gills. The Rivulet, being speedy, acts as the scout of the clan, alerting the clan to potential dangers.

The five known Iterators are Looks to the Moon, Five Pebbles, No Significant Harassment, Seven Red Suns and Sliver of Straw. Five Pebbles was the one who started the Rot, even if on accident - it originated from a forced broadcast sent by Looks to the Moon as a last resort to prevent her collapse. This, however, infected Five Pebbles, making him the first to unfortunately fall victim. Seven Red Suns was infected next, being attacked by their messenger, the Spearmaster - a mulberry purple Slugcat with the ability to generate spears from their tail. After Seven Red Suns was infected, they infected No Significant Harassment by breaking through the walls of his superstructure, catching him off-guard. It is unknown on how Sliver of Straw was infected, but she was the one who created the Gold Pearl, a vital part in the creation of the Rot. Looks to the Moon was infected last - how she was infected is unknown, but she could've been saved if the Rarefaction Cell was delivered to her collapsed superstructure in time.
