Rory cannot stand his stepfather and got an academic scholarship specifically so Doug wouldn't pay for his education. Because of his strained relationship with his stepfather Rory doesn't visit home often. Rory is going to SUCC for a Major in Alchemical Sciences. He is a genius but only applies himself on topics that interest him, like alchemy.
