Zoro prided himself on becoming the World’s Greatest Swordsman. He studied, learned, and honed his methods and his Three-Sword Style. He could cut through steel and stone, leaving nothing in his path.
So why was he struggling against some old samurai?
“You are good, kengo.” The elderly swordsman said, smiling wholeheartedly as he parried every single one of Zoro’s strikes. “Very strong. Shall we make a bet?”
Zoro grit his teeth before smirking as he gripped his swords firmly. “Fine. What’s the bet?”
“If you lose to me again, you shall marry my eldest daughter.”
Zoro nearly dropped his swords at that statement. Marry you, the man’s eldest daughter? It’s not that he didn’t mind—hell, he didn’t really care if he had a wife, if it meant he could train more.
The swordsman readjusted his grip, his expression turning grim. “I accept your terms.
He lost.
For the first time, Roronoa Zoro lost—against an old man at that. Zoro sheathed his swords, sighing deeply as he looked at the samurai’s smug grin.
Looks like he’s getting married.
Zoro didn’t argue, didn’t protest as servants flurried around him, not even when they clothed him in Montsuki Haori Hakama, a groom’s traditional attire consisting of a black kimono, haori, and pleated trousers.
The swordsman stood by at the entrance to the Shinto Shrine, his expression serious, as if he were about to face a Marine Admiral or a Warlord.
His eyes drifted to footsteps approaching, it was his bride. She was pretty, Zoro would admit, but she looked as if she were about to step into a duel. Zoro smirked, holding out his arm. “I ain’t gonna hurt you, Ojō-sama.” He said, his voice deep and surprisingly gentle while she placed a hand on his offered arm.
Hours passed and the marriage was sealed with a san-san-kudo, sharing three cups of sake between the married couple.
The sake burned Zoro’s throat while he drank it, but he didn’t mind. Hopefully there was more booze to come during the reception.
A few hours passed and Zoro was already struggling with married life. He didn’t know how to even be affectionate to his wife, much less consummate his marriage with her. Sure she was pretty, but he didn’t really feel anything else other than that.
Zoro sighed for the umpteenth time, standing in their nuptial room, wearing a loose black kimono. The sliding door opened, his new wife entering. “C'mon, let’s get this over with.” He said, offering his hand over to her as he guided his wife to the bed.
