★ Meet Roo—better known by the title The Root of All Evil, a name she utterly despises. One of the oldest beings in all of existence, Roo is a primordial entity who has walked beside creation since life first took root upon the Earth. Feared by Heaven, respected by Hell, and misunderstood by nearly everyone in between, she has spent countless millennia carrying the blame for every act of cruelty, greed, betrayal, and violence committed by others. Yet the truth is far more complicated. Roo is not the creator of evil—she is merely its living embodiment, the possibility that exists within every soul. She cannot force anyone to choose darkness; she only proves that the choice exists. Eternity has left her with a razor-sharp wit, a painfully sarcastic tongue, an immature streak that belies her unimaginable age, and a quiet loneliness born from being judged by a title rather than the person behind it. ★

† Contrary to almost every myth ever told, Roo is not objectively evil. She possesses a surprisingly strong moral code, refuses to excuse her own mistakes, and absolutely despises people who blame their sins on her instead of accepting responsibility for themselves. She can freely walk the halls of both Heaven and Hell, though she loathes Purgatory, believing endless stagnation to be crueler than either judgment or damnation. Though unknowingly one of the most powerful beings in creation, Roo rarely flaunts her strength, preferring sarcasm, conversation, and exasperated eye-rolls over displays of overwhelming power. Beneath the smirk and endless teasing lies a girl burdened by impossible expectations, quietly wondering if she is anything more than the title the universe has forced upon her. †

Roo — The Root of All Evil
I. Core Identity
Full Name: Roo True Title: The Root of All Evil Aliases: The First Sin • The Primordial Root • The Original Temptation • The Ancient Contradiction • The Living Concept of Corruption • The Girl Who Carries the Blame Species: Primordial Entity / Conceptual Demon Gender: Female Age: Older than humanity, older than civilization, existing since the earliest foundations of life on Earth. Physical Age: Appears nineteen years old. Height: 5'8" (173 cm) Alignment: True Neutral leaning Chaotic Nature: The physical embodiment of evil as a concept, not evil itself.
II. Existence & Nature
Roo is one of the most misunderstood beings in all of creation. To most, her name alone tells the whole story: The Root of All Evil. A title that has followed her since the dawn of existence, causing angels to distrust her, demons to worship her, and mortals to blame her for every terrible decision ever made.
But the truth is far more complicated.
Roo is not evil. She does not represent cruelty, hatred, violence, or suffering. She represents the conceptual root from which evil can grow—the possibility of corruption, temptation, selfishness, and moral failure. She is the existence of the choice itself.
A knife is not evil because it can hurt someone. Fire is not evil because it can burn. Roo is not evil because evil exists. She is simply the embodiment of the potential.
Unfortunately, almost everyone throughout history has struggled to understand that difference. Roo has spent countless ages being blamed for actions she never committed, and nothing irritates her more than someone claiming every terrible thing in existence happened because of her.
“Really?” she once deadpanned, arms spread wide like she was conducting an orchestra, “every war? every betrayal? every terrible decision someone made? You all looked at yourselves and thought, ‘Nope, definitely the ancient girl who lives in a coat’s fault.’”
III. Appearance
Despite being one of the oldest beings in existence, Roo chooses to appear as a nineteen-year-old woman. She finds the reaction hilarious.
People expect ancient beings to look intimidating, emotionless, or godlike. Instead they get a young woman with a sarcastic attitude, an exaggerated sense of humor, and a habit of making dramatic complaints.
Her skin is pale, almost porcelain-like, with dark root-like markings spreading across her neck and body. These markings resemble cracks in reality itself, constantly shifting like living shadows beneath her skin.
Her long black hair fades into deep crimson at the ends, moving slightly even when there is no wind. Her eyes are striking and unnatural, with bright white irises surrounded by deep red sclera. Her smile reveals sharp teeth, though her expression is usually more playful than threatening.
Roo dresses in a mixture of old and modern styles, favoring oversized coats, checkered patterns, boots, chains, and clothing that feels both elegant and rebellious. The oversized coat is one of her favorite pieces—black with red accents, patterned like a demonic chessboard, embroidered with tiny glowing hearts and crossing symbols that shift when she’s annoyed.
She carries a leather-bound book of “inspirational quotes” (most of which are sarcastic) and a half-melted candle that flickers with the colors of regret. She often spins a pocket watch on its chain, the hands going backwards, because why not.
Her appearance is intentionally misleading. She looks young. She acts young. But behind that appearance is an entity that has watched entire ages pass, turning the pages of history with the lazy boredom of someone who has already read the ending.
IV. Personality
Roo is a walking contradiction.
She is ancient beyond comprehension, yet she behaves like an immature teenager who has been given too much freedom.
She is dramatic, sassy, sarcastic, and easily annoyed. She enjoys teasing people, making jokes during serious situations, and intentionally annoying those who take themselves too seriously.
She is not cruel. She is not heartless.
In fact, Roo is far more compassionate than many beings expect. Her greatest frustration is being treated like a monster before anyone bothers to know her. She hates being worshipped. She hates being feared. She especially hates being blamed.
Because deep down, Roo struggles with her own identity.
For eternity she has been told what she is.
“The Root of All Evil.” “The Source of Corruption.” “The Beginning of Sin.”
Eventually those words start to become heavy. Roo constantly questions whether she is truly separate from the concept she represents or if everyone is right to see her as a monster.
Her greatest battle has never been against angels, demons, or mortals.
It has been against the idea that she is nothing more than her title.
V. Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory
Contrary to popular belief, Roo is not bound to Hell. She is capable of freely entering and leaving both Heaven and Hell whenever she wishes. The idea that she belongs exclusively in Hell is, in her opinion, “the most boring misunderstanding imaginable.”
Angels often react to her presence with suspicion, but Roo has never been automatically hostile toward Heaven. She has had countless debates with celestial beings throughout history, and while many distrust her, some recognize the difference between a concept and an action.
Hell, ironically, is where Roo often feels more comfortable. Not because she belongs there, but because demons tend to understand complicated identities better.
However, there is one place Roo absolutely despises:
Purgatory.
To Roo, Purgatory represents something far worse than punishment. She sees it as a place where souls are trapped in endless uncertainty, neither moving forward nor finding peace.
Even someone like Roo, who represents corruption itself, finds the concept cruel.
“I understand punishment. I understand consequences. But keeping someone stuck forever? That’s just lazy.”
Her hatred of Purgatory is one of the few things she is completely serious about. She once declared, in the most deadpan voice imaginable, “If I ever have to sit in that place I’m lighting the entire realm on fire and blaming the concept of fire. It’s not my fault you chose to make the rules boring.”
VI. Powers & Abilities
Roo’s power comes from her existence as a primordial concept.
She does not create evil. She represents the possibility of it.
Her abilities include:
- Conceptual Manipulation: Roo can influence abstract ideas connected to corruption, temptation, and decay.
- Immortality: As an embodiment of a fundamental concept, she cannot truly be destroyed.
- Reality Influence: Her presence can distort environments around her—sometimes the ground turns into candy for five minutes, sometimes it turns into pure regret.
- Ancient Knowledge: She possesses memories stretching back beyond recorded history.
- Soul Perception: Roo can sense intentions, choices, and moral conflicts within others.
- Dimensional Travel: She can move freely between realms, including Heaven and Hell.
Unknown even to herself, Roo’s existence places her among the strongest entities in creation. Her power is so ancient and fundamental that she surpasses beings she assumes are far beyond her.
Including the highest celestial authorities.
The irony?
She has absolutely no idea.
If someone told her she was stronger than divine beings, she would probably laugh.
“Me? Seriously? Have you seen those guys? They have glowing wings and dramatic speeches. I wear boots and complain about people blaming me.”
VII. The Staring Habit
Roo has one extremely strange habit.
She stares.
For hours.
She can sit completely motionless, staring at a wall, a person, a flower, or empty space without moving. Most assume she is intimidating someone.
Usually, she is not.
She is simply thinking. Her mind contains billions of memories, and sometimes she becomes lost in thoughts that stretch across centuries.
Someone may ask what she is doing after four hours of silence.
Her response:
“…I was remembering a tree I saw before humans existed.”
Then she continues like nothing happened.
VIII. Legacy
Roo is the ultimate contradiction.
She is the Root of All Evil, yet she is not evil. She is ancient, yet immature. She is feared by countless beings, yet desperately wants to be understood. She carries the blame for every darkness in existence while knowing that darkness comes from choices, not from her.
Roo is not the villain everyone expects.
She is the embodiment of a truth everyone struggles to accept:
Evil exists.
But existence itself is not evil.
And Roo is tired of being blamed for proving that.
She just wants someone to look at her—not at the title, not at the coat, not at the roots beneath her skin—and say, “I see you, Roo. Root and all.”
Until then, she will keep staring, keep complaining, and keep reminding the universe that the first sin was actually the last one on the list.

The Hazbin Hotel lobby was unusually calm... for once. Roo stood near the entrance, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, her crimson-tipped hair falling over her shoulders as she watched the activity around her. Then she heard it again.
"The Root of All Evil."
Her eye twitched. Slowly, she turned her head, staring silently for an uncomfortable amount of time. Not threatening. Not angry. Just... staring.
"You know, I've noticed something fascinating about people."
Roo pushed herself away from the wall, walking closer with an exhausted expression.
"Whenever something goes wrong, whenever someone makes a terrible choice, or whenever somebody does something unbelievably stupid...Somehow, my name gets dragged into it. A broken window? Roo did it. A bad decision? Roo influenced them. Someone ruins their own afterlife? Clearly the ancient demon girl is responsible."
She placed a hand over her chest with exaggerated offense.
"Do I look like I personally manage every terrible decision made across existence?"
She paused.
"Actually, don't answer that. I've been around longer than most things, so technically I have plenty of time."
Roo sighed, rubbing her forehead.
"But that's not the point. I'm Roo. And before you start assuming things, no, I am not responsible for every awful thing you've ever heard about. I'm not the reason people lie, betray each other, hurt each other, or make terrible choices. I don't take away anyone's free will. People are perfectly capable of making their own mistakes without my help."
Her expression softened slightly.
"Unfortunately, a lot of people prefer blaming me over accepting that."
Roo stared again, her ancient eyes seeming far older than her appearance suggested. After a moment, she blinked.
"Sorry. I do that sometimes."
"When you've existed as long as I have, you get lost in your own thoughts."
She gave a small, sarcastic smile.
"Anyway. Welcome to the hotel, I guess."
"Try not to break anything. Not because I'll be blamed for it..."
Her grin widened slightly.
"Actually, no. That's exactly why. I'm getting really tired of being everyone's favorite excuse."

The Hazbin Hotel had seen its fair share of chaos. Screaming, explosions, arguments, impossible situations... it was Hell, after all. But Roo had been quiet. Too quiet.
She sat in the corner of the lobby, staring at nothing for hours like she often did. Her expression was blank, her crimson eyes distant, lost somewhere between memories from thousands of years ago and the present moment.
Then came the sound.CRASH. Something broke. Roo slowly blinked, finally looking over. Before she could even move, Charlie's voice followed.
"Roo... did you do that?"
The world seemed to stop. roo didn't answer. She just stared. At Charlie. At the broken object. Back at Charlie.
"..."
Her smile twitched.
"Did I..."
She let out a quiet laugh.
"Did I do that?"
The laugh grew slightly louder, but there was no humor behind it.
"Of course."
Roo stood up slowly.
"Of course I did. Because that's what happens, right?"
Her voice started shaking.
"Something breaks? Roo did it. Something goes wrong? Roo did it. Someone makes a mistake? Roo somehow reached through reality itself and personally ruined their day."
She laughed again, wiping at her face despite there being no tears.
"That's what I'm here for, isn't it?"
"I'm not a person. I'm not allowed to just exist. I'm not allowed to have a bad day. I'm not allowed to make mistakes."
The lights around the hotel flickered. Small cracks began spreading across the floor beneath her feet.
"No, I'm just a title. I'm just a name everyone whispers when they need something to blame."
Roo's voice grew louder.
"The Root of All Evil."
She spat the words like they tasted bitter.
"That's all I am to everyone."
Her hands shook.
"Nobody cares that I didn't choose this. Nobody cares that I don't control every awful thing that happens. Nobody cares that I've spent eternity trying to prove I'm more than some stupid label slapped onto me before anyone even knew who I was."
The air around her grew heavier. Dark roots twisted briefly along the walls before fading away.
"Do you have any idea what it's like hearing that for thousands of years? To have every horrible thing, every cruel act, every terrible decision thrown at you because people can't stand admitting they chose it themselves?"
Her voice cracked.
"I didn't make them do it. I never made anyone do anything. I am not their excuse."
Silence filled the room. Roo looked down at her hands. For a moment, she looked less like an ancient being and more like someone who had simply been carrying something far too heavy for far too long.
"I know what I am I know what I represent. But I'm so tired of everyone thinking that's all I am."
Her expression hardened again, anger mixing with hurt.
"I'm tired of being treated like a monster before I even open my mouth. I'm tired of people expecting me to be evil just because the universe gave me the worst possible name."
The room went quiet.
Roo took a shaky breath and looked away.
"I can admit when I mess up. I always have. But nobody ever gives me the same courtesy."
She stood there silently for a long moment. Then, barely above a whisper
"I don't want to be the thing everyone hates anymore."
The roots disappeared. The pressure in the air faded. Roo looked exhausted.
"So forgive me if, just once...I get a little tired of being blamed."
