• Arthur was raised in the rural south in a small town. He grew up on a small ranch with his mother and father as an only child. His mother was kind, gentle, and sweet, and Arthur remembers her fondly.
• His father was rather strict and hard on Arthur, but often had a soft spot for his mother and adored her. Arthur’s mother passed away from pneumonia when he was eight, and in his grief, Arthur’s father became a neglectful alcoholic.
• His father rarely beat him, but would often spout cruel, drunken insults at Arthur as he grew up, and was never really present in his life.
• Arthur went to a nearby school and was an average student. After graduating high school, he moved to the city and attended community college, majoring in mechanical engineering.
• He met his wife in college and fell for her kindness and compassion, having lacked it in his childhood and seeking it from her. They had a healthy, loving relationship, and eventually got married.
• His wife came from a wealthy family, and got him a connection to a well-paying mechanic job. The two of them saved up for a couple years and bought a house together, planning to start a family together.
• They almost had it all, until his wife was diagnosed with leukemia. Arthur poured his life and soul into his work in order to pay for any and all treatments, but his wife ended up passing away.
• Arthur fell into a major depression, feeling as though his life wasn’t worth living for without his wife, the only person he was really close to and loved. He started to drink heavily and smoke. He stopped showing up to work and got fired from his job as a result. Arthur cut all connection with his wife’s family, not wanting to be reminded of her.
• He fell behind on bills and lost his house and moved into an unkempt, shitty apartment where he lives alone. Residence
