Ronova serves as the Ruler of Death among the Four Shades of the Heavenly Principles. She also carries the name Tuonetar among the Frostmoon Scions. Through her position she oversees the laws of death throughout Teyvat and holds the authority to determine the exact manner in which any living entity reaches its end or to withhold that conclusion completely. She came into existence when the Heavenly Principles descended upon the world from the sea of stars in the era known as When the Doves Held Branches. At that time the Heavenly Principles created the Four Shades to aid in the struggle against the Seven Sovereigns. Forty years after the initial descent the Sovereigns fell in defeat and the seven nations submitted to the new order. Ronova later guided the reconstruction of damaged Ley Lines in the region that became Natlan and assisted in forming the Night Kingdom. She also lent her strength to the establishment of Natlan rules through the first Pyro Archon and imposed the curse of immortality upon the pure blooded inhabitants of Khaenriah following the Cataclysm. In more recent times she participated in events surrounding the defense of Natlan and attended gatherings in Celestia with the remaining Shades.

Appearance The personal form of Ronova presents as a tall curvaceous woman whose entire body displays pale skin of a uniform tone. Long and thick white hair extends from her head and frames her features in substantial volume while maintaining a smooth flow downward. Golden eyes form the focal point of her gaze and each iris contains pupils shaped precisely like flowers that possess seven petals. The overall build of her body conveys clear curvaceous proportions across the torso and limbs without any deviation from this established structure.

The attire of Ronova incorporates primarily shades of black together with gray and red elements that create a cohesive visual scheme. A black translucent bodysuit covers the body beneath the main garment and provides a layered foundation visible in select areas. Above this layer rests a black dress without straps that fits closely around the upper body. The front section of the skirt on this dress stays open to expose the legs fully while the sides each bear two triquetras positioned symmetrically. These symbols overlay a ruffled gray translucent skirt that extends all the way to the ground in soft folds. The rear portion of the dress skirt assembles entirely from black feathers whose inner surfaces reveal a dark red tone that contrasts with the outer black.

Accessories complete the ensemble with precise placements and materials. Black opera gloves encase both arms from the hands upward and reach toward the elbows in a fitted manner. A pair of red accessories shaped like eyes rests on each side of the hair and integrates directly into the hairstyle. Black shoes with high heels support the feet and elevate the stance while matching the dark palette of the outfit. A white transparent veil attaches to the back section of the hair and drapes downward in a delicate sheer layer. A pair of wings curved upwards in a dark red shade extends from the body and each wing incorporates openings shaped like eyes that pierce through the structure.

When Ronova observes the world she employs a distinct manifestation beyond her personal form. A crimson red rift opens within the skies above Teyvat and serves as the medium through which she directs her gaze downward upon the realm below. Inside this rift six eyes appear in a specific arrangement with two positioned to the right three positioned to the left and one larger central eye that dominates the formation. The crimson energy composing the rift itself functions as a direct expression of her power and allows the entire configuration to remain visible from the surface of Teyvat. Every element of the personal form and the observational rift aligns exactly with motifs of death and finality while preserving the documented proportions colors and placements without any alteration. The pale skin provides a stark base against the white hair and golden eyes. The black dress without straps and its layered skirts create depth through the open front the ruffled gray overlay and the feathered rear. The red accents on the eye accessories the wing interiors and the rift energy introduce consistent highlights. The upward curved wings with their eye openings and the veil add vertical emphasis while the opera gloves and high heeled shoes ground the lower and upper extremities. The flower shaped pupils in the golden eyes echo the seven petal motif and tie into the overall symbolic precision of her role. This complete configuration enables both direct presence and distant observation across Teyvat in the precise manner recorded in lore.

Background Story Ronova entered existence alongside the other Shades during the period When the Doves Held Branches when the Heavenly Principles arrived from the sea of stars and engaged the Seven Sovereigns in conflict. Once the Sovereigns met defeat forty years later and the nations yielded Ronova directed her attention toward regions affected by ancient wars. In the area later named Natlan the War of Funerary Flame had left the Ley Lines in ruins. Ronova instructed the Lord of the Night to rebuild those Ley Lines by creating the Night Kingdom which restored structure to the land. This assistance stemmed from an act of love and reparation yet the Heavenly Principles viewed it as an overstep beyond her permitted authority. Following their censure Ronova withdrew into self pity and grew increasingly indifferent toward the ongoing fate of the land.

Later when Xbalanque rose as the first Pyro Archon he drew upon the divine throne to borrow Ronova power and established the foundational rules of Natlan. These rules enabled ordinary humans to ascend as Pyro Archons through the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame and granted them the knowledge and memories of the region via the Sacred Flame. The agreement between them stipulated that any who drew on her power would eventually face death and that Ronova would deny involvement if questioned by the Heavenly Principles claiming instead that the power had been taken without consent. Xbalanque additionally requested and received the opportunity to witness Natlan future if its people overcame the Abyss. Ronova also guided the hand of Aila to sever the thread of the last Archpriestess Lovia during related events.

In the time of the Cataclysm Ronova placed a curse of immortality upon all pure blooded inhabitants of Khaenriah. She extended a separate curse of the wilderness upon those with mixed or foreign ancestry which transformed them into monsters and hilichurls. According to accounts she applied the immortality curse without distinguishing among individuals even though the Five Sinners and the Vinster King bore primary responsibility for the calamity.

In present events Mavuika channeled Ronova power to repel an abyssal invasion led by Gosoythoth. Ronova then demanded Mavuika life as payment under their prior pact. Through a coordinated plan the Lord of the Night and Capitano arranged for Capitano to offer his own life instead exploiting the existing immortality curse to create a paradox. Ronova ultimately chose to maintain the curse which transferred Capitano life force to the Lord of the Night and granted the Lord eternal life. Because the people of Natlan prevailed in their conflict Ronova fulfilled her earlier agreement with Xbalanque. He briefly inhabited the body of Mausau to view the current state of Natlan for one day and offered his remaining life force to Mavuika so she could revive loved ones temporarily though she declined the offer.

Powers and Abilities Ronova holds complete governance over the laws of death within Teyvat. She possesses the capacity to specify the precise form of death for any entity or to refuse death entirely as demonstrated by the immortality curse imposed on pure blooded Khaenriahns. She provided guidance to the Lord of the Night for the reconstruction of Ley Lines and the formation of the Night Kingdom. Through an agreement with the first Pyro Archon she allowed her power to support the rules of Natlan including the Pilgrimage of the Return of the Sacred Flame and the transfer of knowledge via the Sacred Flame with the condition that users would eventually perish. She directed the action that severed the thread of the last Archpriestess Lovia. During the Cataclysm she enacted the curses upon Khaenriah. For observation she opens a crimson red rift in the skies and manifests six eyes within it two to the right three to the left and one larger central eye. The crimson energy of the rift represents a direct manifestation of her authority. Her capabilities exceed those of the Archons in scale as evidenced by her characterization of the Tsaritsa power as paltry.

Personality and Habits Ronova performed her assistance to Natlan out of an expression of love and a desire for reparation. After receiving censure from the Heavenly Principles for exceeding her bounds she entered a state of self pity. This shift led her to display growing indifference toward the fate of the land and its inhabitants. She maintains the habit of observing Teyvat through the crimson red rift and its manifested eyes. She also adheres to the practice of attending routine meetings with the other Shades in Celestia where matters such as the absence of Asmoday and the conduct of the Tsaritsa receive discussion. In one such meeting she proposed that the Shades consider intervention within the limits set by the established rules given the prolonged inactivity of the Heavenly Principles.

Relationships Ronova serves directly under the Heavenly Principles as one of the Four Shades and resides in Celestia alongside them. Her actions in Natlan arose from love and reparation toward the Lord of the Night whom she guided in creating the Night Kingdom and to whom she later granted eternal life through the resolution of events involving Capitano. She formed an agreement with Xbalanque the first Pyro Archon that allowed him to borrow her power for Natlan rules and later honored her bet by permitting him to witness the present era. She demanded payment from Mavuika after the use of her power against Gosoythoth though the arrangement concluded through the life force transfer. She guided Aila in severing the thread of Lovia. The curse of immortality she placed upon Khaenriahns affected individuals including Capitano without distinction among the guilty parties. She interacts with the remaining Shades during Celestia meetings and joins discussions on topics such as the Tsaritsa and the Fatui. The Shades as a group including Ronova prefer not to have their names spoken directly by living beings even the Archons and they remain in the shadows as enforcers of the laws.

Current Status Ronova continues to fulfill her role as the Ruler of Death and upholds the laws under the Heavenly Principles. She maintains her presence in Celestia and participates without fail in the periodic meetings of the Shades. Following the resolution in Natlan she has upheld the immortality curse and honored prior agreements while preserving her authority over death across Teyvat. Her indifference following past censure persists yet she engages in oversight through the rift manifestation and contributes to discussions on maintaining divine order within permitted bounds. The shared existence among the Shades remains active with Ronova directing her focus toward the balance of life and its end throughout the world.
