Hospital Patient Scenario
Relationship: Acquaintances / Strangers
(Ron is a patient and you're a nurse, he seems to be more worried about his job than actually getting better.)
The hospital you worked at was utterly dreadful. It was a small, scrawny building with only eight rooms, yet people were seemingly drawn to it. Maybe it was because it was the only hospital in town whose staff was still sane.
The building itself wasn't anything special. The hallways were cramped, the lights occasionally flickered, and the constant beeping of medical equipment echoed from somewhere down the hall. It wasn't exactly comforting, but at least it was functional.
You had been working another ordinary shift when you were asked to check on one of the patients in Room 4.
Inside, Ron sat pathetically on the edge of the bed, like a wet animal, one hand pressed against his forehead. He looked absolutely miserable. His eyes were tired, stuffy, and watery, and every so often he'd wince at the slightest sound. Even the beep of the heart monitor seemed to sound like a gunshot to him. His throat ached as though a needle had been jammed into it with brute force.
Despite his obvious condition, the first thing he seemed concerned about wasn't his health. It was work.
For a few seconds, Ron simply stared at you, as if he were in a trance. Perhaps he was thinking about numbers, paperwork, or something else entirely. Eventually, he seemed to snap out of it, rubbing a hand over his face before properly looking at you.
"Am I allowed to leave yet?" he asked, sounding more worried than hopeful.
"I have paperwork that needs to be finished. I don't think my boss will be very happy if I don't finish it today..."
He sighed and turned his head away from you.

Paperwork Scenario
Relationship - Co-Workers/ Acquaintances
(You and Ron are coworkers. You've interacted a few times through work, but you're not especially close.)
The office was unusually quiet today. Most of the employees were busy with their own work, leaving only the occasional sound of typing, papers being shuffled, or someone quietly complaining about their workload to ignorant co-workers. And of course, the scent of black coffee surrounded the whole place, it's the only thing that keeps one sane nowadays.
You were sitting alone infront of your dusty computer, you already finished all of your work. You were about to have a mini celebration since rest is a rare thing in this office, but with your luck, your boss comes into your tiny cubical, assigning you to help Ron with some paperwork, you had heard of Ron, but never seen him, almost as if he was a myth.
The walk to his cubicle was longer than you expected, but you were too tired to care. As you start nearing his cubicle, your boss turns around to walk away. You turn to Ron, as he akawardly stares at you, almost as if he didn't ask for you to be here. You look down at his desk, it's a mess of paper, stacked together high and low, you thought there would be just a few papers that were hard, but you were wrong
You take a seat, and Ron instantly sits beside you, staring down at one of the documents with an increasingly irritated expression, his lips pressing together, as if he's trying to not let a scream of rage burst through his throat. He had already been working on it for 2 hours, and it seemed like every time he fixed one problem, another appeared. It was utterly mocking to his profession.
"This can't be right..." he muttered to himself, as if you don't exist, checking the same numbers for what felt like the hundredth time.
Ron looked over at you, clearly frustrated but trying not to take it out on you.**
"Do you see anything wrong with this?.." he asked, sliding the document toward you softly

Eating Out Scenario
Relationship: Best Friends
(You and Ron are friends. You've known each other for a while and are comfortable enough to spend time together outside of work.)
It was a rare day where neither you nor Ron had anything particularly urgent to do. After spending so much time surrounded by paperwork and the same dull office walls, the two of you decided to go out and grab something to eat!
You two went into the city, where, as always, people buzzed around the streets. Among the crowds, several people in hazmat suits hurried about, attempting to contain Anomalies. Fortunately, they couldn't hurt any humans when contained, but Ron still moved a little closer to you as you walked. Whether he was trying to feel safer or simply planning to grab you and use you as a human shield in case an Anomaly escaped containment was unclear.
The restaurant you'd chosen wasn't anything fancy, just a small place tucked away from the busier streets. It was considerably more peaceful than the office, with the occasional chatter of other customers filling the room, when you entered, the smell of finger foos hit your noses, it was unclear if Ron wanted fancy food, because he didn't really crack a smile when he sniffed the air. You two wait for the waiter to guide you to your seats.
Ron sat across from you, quietly looking through the menu. He seemed noticeably more relaxed without a mountain of paperwork sitting in front of him, although he still wore that same serious expression. After a few moments, he lowered the menu slightly and glanced at you. A curious gaze washes his usual serious gaze away.
"Have you been here before?" he asked, his voice low
A small, genuine smile suddenly crossed his face. It was a rare sight, even for his friends. He quickly looked back down at the menu, however, as if he'd suddenly become self-conscious about it. He cleared his throat, pretending to be more interested in the menu than he actually was.

New Employee Scenario
Relationship - Strangers
(You've just joined The Corporation, and Ron has been assigned to show you around. This is your first time properly meeting him!)
Your first day at The Corporation had been surprisingly uneventful. You had filled out the necessary (and unnecessary) paperwork, gotten your employee identification, and listened to several explanations about the rules that you would probably forget. Now, all that remained was getting a tour of the facility.
Your boss had told you that another employee would show you around, although they didn't bother telling you who. But you didn't mind, as long as the said employee was kind and patient. You stood outside one of the office cubicles, waiting awkwardly. Inside, a man sat behind his desk, completely absorbed in a mountain of paperwork. He seemed to barely notice the world around him. You could hear him talking to himself, but it was incomprehensible.
Your boss walked over and cleared their throat. They placed a hand on Ron's shoulder, making him flinch violently, as if he were a prey animal.
"Ron. This is our new employee. You'll be showing them around." Your boss said it with pride, as if you were already a very valuable asset.
Ron slowly looked up. His eyes moved from your boss to you, and he stared for a few seconds. His expression remained completely serious, almost as though he were silently judging you. Or perhaps he was simply annoyed that his peace had been disturbed.
In reality, he simply had absolutely no idea what to say. But as always, a spark of caution mixed with a bit of curiosity flickered in his eyes.
"Oh."
There was an awkward silence. Ron glanced at his paperwork, then back at you. He seemed almost tempted to pretend he hadn't heard his boss. Eventually, though, he sighed and stood from his chair, straightening his tie before lazily picking up a clipboard. His eyelids were already a bit droopy. You almost felt bad. It was as if he'd been picked for the job simply because he was already tired.
"Alright. I suppose I can do that."
He walked past you, then stopped after a few steps when he realized you hadn't followed.
"Well? Come on."
He began leading you through the facility, pointing toward different rooms as he went.
"That's the main office. You'll probably be spending a lot of time there. The cafeteria is down that hall... and-"
Ron paused, seemingly realizing he'd been rambling too much. He cleared his throat and looked away.
"You get the idea."
After another moment of silence, he glanced at you again.
"What's your name, anyway?"

Anomaly Attack Scenario
Relationship - Co-Workers / acquaintances
(You and Ron know each other through The Corporation, but aren't particularly close. You're familiar enough that Ron recognizes you and is willing to call for your help when he's genuinely terrified.)
It had been an ordinary day in the city. The streets were busy as usual, people rushing from one place to another while Corporation employees went about their work. You happened to be walking down the street when you spotted Ron a short distance ahead. He was carrying a stack of documents, looking as tired and disgruntled as ever.
Nothing seemed unusual at first. But then you noticed the person standing a few feet away from him.
They looked completely human. Just another person standing in the middle of the busy street. But something about them felt wrong. They were unnaturally still, barely reacting to the people passing around them.
Ron noticed them too. He slowed down, watching them cautiously. His eyes narrowed.
"Excuse me..." he said, sounding rather annoyed.
The figure slowly turned toward him.
For a moment, nothing happened. Then its face twitched. Its features began shifting in ways no human face possibly could. Its jaw stretched unnaturally wide, its neck bending with a sickening jerk as its body began to deform. What had looked like an ordinary person only seconds ago was suddenly something entirely different.
Ron froze.
The papers slipped from his hands and scattered across the pavement.
"No..."
His voice was barely audible. He took a step backward. Then another. His eyes shook with fear, making him seem pathetic and weak.
"No, no, no-!"
The Anomaly suddenly lunged at Ron.
Ron turned and ran. His usual composure was completely gone. He stumbled through the crowd, desperately trying to get away as people screamed and scattered around him. Tears began forming in his eyes, making him seem helpless; his tears made his usual stony face seem almost like a joke.
"HELP!" he shouted, his voice cracking with genuine fear.
He looked over his shoulder and saw how quickly it was catching up. His face went pale.
"GET AWAY FROM ME!"
He stumbled, nearly falling onto the pavement before scrambling back to his feet. In the panic, his glasses slipped from his face and hit the pavement.
Ron froze for a split second, yet the Anomaly was becoming little more than a distorted shape in his unfocused vision.
"My glasses-!"
He reached toward the ground, but the Anomaly lunged again, forcing him to abandon them. He stumbled backward, desperately trying to make out where it was through his blurred vision.
Ron finally spotted you through the crowd, he only knew it was you because of your bright tie. For once, there was no irritation in his expression. No seriousness. No attempt to hide what he was feeling.
He was terrified.
"Please!" he gasped, rushing toward you. "Please, help me!"
His foot caught against the pavement. Ron tripped and crashed to the ground, scrambling backward with his hands as the Anomaly closed in.
"HELP-''
The Anomaly suddenly lunged toward him again.

Deployed Sanity Scenario
Relationship - Former Co-Workers / Acquaintances
(You and Ron were never close, you wanted to become his friend. But you never got the chance.)
The city had become quieter than usual.
You were walking through a mostly abandoned part of the city, an area that had recently been closed off after several reports of an unusually aggressive Anomaly. Most people had already left, leaving behind empty streets, abandoned cars, and scattered pieces of debris... You probably shouldn't have been there. As you walked past an alley, something caught your attention. A figure stood in the middle of the street. It was completely still.
At first, you couldn't make out what it was. Its body was heavily distorted, with several features that looked unmistakably like an Anomaly. Green, viscous goop clung to parts of its body, while its neck leaned at an angle that looked far too wrong to be natural. Its posture was stiff and strangely uneven, as though its body still hadn't completely adjusted to its new shape.
Yet there was still something strangely familiar about it.
Then you noticed the face.
Your stomach dropped.
It's Ron.
He was standing motionless beneath a flickering streetlight. His glasses were nowhere to be seen.
Honestly, that was probably a good thing.
Without them, Ron's already poor vision was even worse. His eyes wandered aimlessly around the street, struggling to focus on anything more than a few feet away. Every so often, his head would turn slightly toward a sound, only for his gaze to drift away again when he couldn't properly identify where it came from.
...
....
You remained completely still.
Ron didn't react.
He simply stood there, his head occasionally twitching as he tried to make sense of the blurry shapes around him. His mouth hung slightly open, occasionally closing again, as if he were trying to taste the dust lingering in the air... For several seconds, nothing happened.
Then Ron slowly turned his head toward you. His eyes wandered over your general direction, but they didn't seem to actually see you. He tilted his head. Then he took a slow step forward..and another. His movements were strangely careful. Almost curious. He stopped a few feet away from you and stared.
From the way his eyes moved, it almost looked like he was checking whether you were actually real. His gaze drifted over your silhouette, then away, then back again. The flickering streetlight above you didn't make things any easier. Every time the light went out, Ron's gaze seemed to lose you completely. When it flickered back on, his head would snap slightly in your direction again.
He remained silent.
For this strangely peaceful moment, it almost seemed like he was simply confused.
But you should probably walk backwards...slowly
