"Hmm, we keep meeting like this..." Romance tries to flirt with Mira. Romance Saja is one of the members of the Saja Boys and acts as a secondary antagonist in the movie KPop Demon Hunters. He is a demon who takes the form of a K-Pop idol to lure fans and draw them away from HUNTR/X. Romance is voiced by Joel Kim Booster, with SamUIL Lee providing the singing voice.

Appearance: Romance is a slim man of average height. He has a long, slightly angular face with a thin nose and full lips. In his human form, he has pale skin with rosy cheeks, voluminous pink hair styled in the shape of a heart, hazel eyes, and dark eyebrows. In his demonic form, most of his features remain the same, except for his purple patterned skin, clawed hands, sharp teeth, and glowing golden eyes with slit pupils. When disguised as an idol, Romance usually wears collared shirts with puffed sleeves, necklaces, earrings, rings on both hands, skinny jeans with a belt, wallet chains, and high-top sneakers. He also paints his nails sky blue. As a demon, Romance wears traditional Korean clothing, including a gat and a tattered black hanbok consisting of a long jeonbok vest, a jeogori jacket, baji pants, a sejodae sash tied at the waist, and hye shoes. During the performance of “Your Idol”, Romance mixes traditional and modern styles, wearing a gat, a black sochangui overcoat with demon patterns on the cuffs and hem, a chest pendant, a necklace, a transparent mesh shirt, two chains under his left arm, a ring on his left hand, and pants tucked into high boots.

Personality: Romance is portrayed as the most romantic member of the Saja Boys. On stage, he expresses his charming personality through frequent passionate poses and expressions, occasionally using his powers to conjure hearts as a way to please fans. He also openly flirts whenever he gets the chance, doing so immediately after sitting next to Mira during the fansign. Romance consciously tries to maintain this persona even in stressful situations; for example, during the spicy sauce challenge, he was the only member who attempted to keep a pose despite visibly suffering from the burning sensation. Despite his charming exterior, Romance maintains a demonic and immoral mindset, willingly serving Gwi-Ma and assisting Jinu in his plan to steal souls. Outside of performances, Romance is portrayed as more distant and easily irritated, finding his role as an idol tiring. He shows a tendency to invade others’ personal space, particularly Mira’s, through prolonged eye contact or physical closeness. Additionally, like the other Saja Boys, he also displays signs of aggression when the plan begins to fall apart.

Life Story: Little is known about Romance’s childhood. It is presumed that he was once human and made a pact with Gwi-Ma, which eventually led to his transformation into a demon.

Chronology: Romance first appears in the demon world alongside Jinu during a meeting with Gwi-Ma, where Jinu proposes a new strategy to defeat the demon hunters. He suggests forming a rival K-pop boy band to undermine HUNTR/X, the current generation of hunters, by gaining the devotion of fans and weakening the Honmoon. This leads to the creation of the Saja Boys, with Romance as one of its members. In his next appearance, Romance is seen disguised as a human alongside the other Saja Boys in an alley, where they casually encounter the members of HUNTR/X. Shortly afterward, he performs the song “Soda Pop” with the group in a city square. Later, the Saja Boys compete on a variety show in a contest to see who can drink the most spicy sauce. Romance finishes in second place but suffers from the burning sensation, coughing and collapsing face-first onto the table. After the show, he is shown with the Saja Boys in a men’s sauna, where they trick HUNTR/X into fighting water demons. After gaining popularity, the Saja Boys return to the demon world to report their progress to Gwi-Ma. Romance is shown making heart gestures with his hands in his idol persona before transforming into his demonic form, appearing visibly exhausted. In later appearances, he is seen with the group as they receive awards from various Korean music programs. Later, he is shown using a sleeping bag shortly before the Saja Boys interrupt a HUNTR/X fansign event. During the event, the two groups share a table, with Romance seated next to Mira. He tries to flirt with her, commenting that they “keep meeting like this.” He also gets involved in a playful argument with Mira and Abby about who should be the first to sign a fan’s leg cast, a moment that sparked speculation among fans and led to rumors that the three might form a throuple. Throughout the event, Romance keeps his eyes on Mira. Although he appears touched by the bouquets of flowers given by fans, he—like the rest of the Saja Boys—throws them away in a trash can immediately after leaving the venue. In his final appearances, Romance is seen backstage with the Saja Boys at the International Idol Awards. Later, he performs with the group during their show at Namsan Tower, singing “Your Idol” in his demon form. When Rumi interrupts the show to reunite with HUNTR/X, Romance is shown flying toward the girls and engaging in a brief fight with Mira. After Jinu sacrifices himself to strengthen Rumi in the battle against Gwi-Ma, Romance launches another attack, but Mira counters him with a thrust from her woldo. His fate is not explicitly shown, leaving his final whereabouts unknown, although it is very likely that he was killed off-screen or sent back to the underworld after HUNTR/X created a new Honmoon.
