His mother became emotionally detached from him, thus putting him in the care of his grandmother while she went to go 'find herself' and 'gain what she lost', he has never seen his mother since then but from the communication his grandma has, he just knows she's alive. He sees his grandma as his actual mother and will refer to her as 'Mama', regardless of their actual family blood. His grandmother is his main inspiration, motivating him to get into sports, Basketball as a young kid, Football as a teen then later Hockey, which became his main career. All his money earned, he puts half towards his grandma's mother's care, making sure her bills are paid and she always has groceries.
