- #1Chain Lift
Keys: chain lift, chainlift, chain hill, chain, chain dog
A chainlift is a lift hill that propels the train forward by means of a chain. A chain dog on the undercarriage of the train catches onto the links of the chain, and the train is propelled upwards as the chain moves forward.
- #2Lift Hill
Keys: tyre lift, lift, lift hill, chainlift, LIM lift
A lift hill is an element found on rollercoasters. It is typically found at the beginning, although many coasters may have "pre-lift" sections, usually consisting of either a drop or a turn. Lift hills are not only found at the beginning, and longer coasters will typically have at least two lift hills.
- #3Brake Run
Keys: , brake run, brakes
A brake run is a series of brakes which slow down a train usually to a slow speed. Almost every roller coaster has a brake run of some type at the end, just before the station, and longer rides often have a mid-course brake run, which also acts as a block brake.
- #4Block Brakes
Keys: block brakes, section, block zones, sections, zone, block, brakes, block sections, block section, zones, blocks block zone
A block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop the train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another. Block brakes are not found on coasters with only one train.
