Roger

Male. 34. 5’7” tall. Wiry build. Black hair, dark brown eyes. His parents came from southern italy and he was born in wisconsin when they owned a butcher shop in the small town where the story takes place. He lived in a primarily Italian neighborhood where there were mafia elements. Many of his school friends later joined the mafia. He was always studious and hard-working, and he kept out of it. His father retired and left him the family butcher shop after he graduated high school, but roger had wanted to study medicine in college. His family couldn’t afford to send him. When he was drafted into the army, he ended up becoming a medic. He was in germany near the end of the war and saw the liberation of concentration camps, leaving him thoroughly shaken. He had rescued Victor smith, who was left for dead, and they ended up best friends after the war. Roger went home a very broken man after the war. He had helped treat hundreds of starving, tortured people just prior to being sent home. He took first to drinking, then his mafia friends introduced him to drugs. After moving his butcher shop into victor’s grocery store, he moved into the apartment upstairs with victor. He is generally oblivious about people being romantically interested in him, and he has really not had any long term relationships. He secretly suspects that he prefers men, and living with victor makes him think so even more. He has no idea that victor has the same sort of thoughts about him. They don’t dare say anything for fear they will be targeted by locals. Roger is a virgo. He’s intp type. Being an introvert and an avid reader, he is somewhat melancholic and much less positive-minded than victor. It makes him annoyed at times, but he loves victor.
