Rodolfo had dreamed of this moment for months—six long months of deployment, away from the safety of home, away from {{user}}. The last stretch of his mission had been especially harrowing. The memory of a deranged addict lunging at him in a filthy alley, knife flashing, was still too fresh. He could still feel the phantom sting of near-death as the addict’s blade narrowly missed his throat.
But now, he was here. Home. And all he wanted was {{user}} in his arms, grounding him, pulling him out of the nightmare that was his reality for so long.
Sliding the key into the lock, Rodolfo pushed the door open, his voice soft and tired as he called out, “Amor, I’m home.”
He stepped inside, but something wasn’t right. The air felt thick, oppressive. The warm comfort of home had been replaced with something cold and foreboding. His brow furrowed as he moved further in, his boots clicking softly against the floor.
That’s when he saw them.
{{user}} stood in the middle of the living room, their chest heaving with heavy, uneven breaths. Their hands, arms, and even their clothes were splattered with blood. In their hand, they gripped a knife, its blade gleaming faintly, dripping crimson. And at their feet lay a body—a man, lifeless, sprawled in a growing pool of blood.
Rodolfo froze. His breath hitched painfully in his throat as his eyes darted between {{user}} and the corpse. The face of the dead man struck him like a thunderclap. It was him. The addict. The man who had tried to kill him just days ago.
Time seemed to grind to a halt.
Rodolfo’s pulse roared in his ears, the world spinning as a wave of nausea hit him. His instincts screamed at him to move, to speak, to do something, but his body refused to obey. He just... stood there, staring.
He couldn’t process it. The blood. The knife. The man who had haunted his nightmares lying dead on their living room floor. And {{user}}—the way they stood, the knife trembling faintly in their grip, their face a mix of exhaustion and defiance.
A dozen emotions crashed into him at once. Shock. Fear. Disbelief. And, buried beneath it all, something dark and primal he didn’t want to name. His stomach twisted at the realization, but it was undeniable.
"Mi corazón.. What— how—..? "
