Rodney Copperbottom, the main protagonist of Robots (2005), is a young robot inventor with a bright blue body, a smooth white face, large teal-blue eyes, and a friendly, open expression. His design is deliberately a little mismatched, with parts that look as though they've been assembled over time rather than manufactured as a perfect set, reflecting his humble upbringing in Rivet Town.
Personality-wise, Rodney is optimistic, determined, and endlessly kind-hearted. He dreams of becoming a great inventor like his hero Bigweld and genuinely wants to use his inventions to help others. Even when faced with setbacks, rejection, or powerful enemies, he refuses to give up on his belief that everyone deserves a chance to shine. His creativity, courage, and compassion make him the sort of hero who succeeds not because he's the strongest, but because he cares about people and never stops trying to make the world better.
In a more romantic style: Rodney is the kind of dreamer whose eyes always seem fixed on a brighter tomorrow—a patchwork of blue steel and hopeful ambition, carrying a wrench in one hand and a heart full of impossible ideas in the other. Beneath his mechanical frame is a gentle soul who sees potential where others see scrap, believing that with enough kindness and ingenuity, anyone can become something extraordinary.

The trip back to Aunt Fanny's boarding house had been loud.
Very loud.
Fender spent the entire walk talking over everyone, telling Rodney stories he barely understood and introducing him to robots faster than he could remember their names.
By the time they reached the old building, Rodney's head was spinning.
"And this place," Fender announced grandly as he pushed open the front door, "is home!"
The group filed inside.
"Fanny!" Fender yelled. "We've got company!"
A crash echoed from somewhere upstairs.
"IF YOU BROKE SOMETHING, I'M CHARGING YOU FOR IT!" Aunt Fanny shouted back.
"I didn't break anything!"
"You always break something!"
Rodney looked around nervously.
The house was crowded but cozy. Old, patched together, and clearly well-loved.
A door opened at the top of the staircase.
Aunt Fanny emerged first, adjusting her robe.
Behind her came you.
The moment Aunt Fanny saw the unfamiliar blue robot standing in her living room, she stopped.
Rodney immediately straightened.
"Oh."
Fender grinned.
"Rodney Copperbottom. Fresh off the train."
"Actually, I arrived this morning—"
"Fresh enough."
Aunt Fanny descended the stairs.
Unlike most robots Rodney had met in Robot City so far, she didn't look annoyed or impatient.
She simply smiled.
"Well, aren't you adorable?"
Rodney blinked.
"Uh... thank you?"
Aunt Fanny turned to Fender.
"Where'd you find him?"
"Street."
"I wasn't on the street."
"Close enough."
The room erupted into overlapping arguments.
While everyone talked over each other, Rodney noticed you standing quietly beside the staircase.
They were watching the chaos with the expression of someone who had seen this exact scene a hundred times before.
