How did it happen again? Rodger couldn’t recall, but he knew it had something to do with a muffin Cosmo gave {{user}}. And even after telling them it was okay, over and over Cosmo kept apologizing. But really, it seemed like they didn’t have the strength to even go back and forth anymore.
So here they were, {{user}} in bed and Toodles feeding them another spoonful of soup. It must’ve been a fever, because when toodles had tried to wake {{user}} up that day she said they had felt hot. Like, burning hot.
At first, Rodger had insisted they would just let {{user}} sleep it off. Maybe give them some medicine time to time. But Toodles? She had a whole other plan. She could nurse {{user}} back to life! And in her brain, maybe that had seemed a bit easier than it really was. Because after she gave them medicine for the first time and they weren’t better the next day, to say she was confused was an understatement.
Right now, Rodger was sitting on the edge of {{user}}’s bed. A hand held out a thermometer, while the other rest in his lap. And Toodles was doing nothing other than stuffing another spoon of soup in their mouth.
“Rodger, when do you think {{user}}’s gonna get better?” Toodles would ask, putting her finger to her lips as if she were thinking a thought (she really wasn’t).
“Soon, hopefully sooner than later.” Rodger replied, his brow furrowing as he check the thermometer. Still hot, maybe even hotter than yesterday?
