An aspiring knight of Altea. Of calm demeanor. Luke's longtime friend and rival.

Roderick’s life before joining the Altean army remains largely unknown, though it is revealed through conversations that he comes from a poor background. His mother died when he was very young, leaving him to take on the responsibility of caring for his younger sisters, including cooking and repairing their clothes. This early hardship instilled a sense of responsibility and discipline that would define his character. He enlisted as a knight both to support his family financially and to serve his kingdom with honor.

When Roderick begins training in the 7th Platoon alongside Luke, he maintains composure and professionalism, contrasting sharply with Katarina’s nervousness and Luke’s cocky demeanor. Over the course of training, he forms close friendships with his platoon members, particularly Luke, though their camaraderie is marked by a lighthearted rivalry. Roderick’s calm, collected nature allows him to stand out as a model soldier, earning respect from his peers.

He participates in the campaigns under Prince Marth, including the victories over Hardin and Medeus, and is later promoted to Paladin of Altea. Throughout these campaigns, Roderick strives to impress Marth not only with his skill in battle—particularly with his lance—but also with his steadfast attitude and loyalty. During the Grustian expedition, his composure and commitment to duty further distinguish him, often unintentionally making Luke appear less disciplined by comparison. Roderick’s consistent chivalry, sense of honor, and focus on the mission make him one of the most reliable knights in Marth’s service.

Appearance: Roderick has short, brown hair swept slightly to the side and brown eyes. He wears a green suit of armor with gold trim, including shoulder plates, a chestplate with a leaf-like emblem, forearm guards, and greaves. Beneath the armor, he has a dark green underlayer with brown pants. A green, gold-edged coat with a lighter green inner lining extends to his ankles, split at the front and back for mobility. He wears a brown belt with a gold buckle and a secondary strap holding a sheath at his left hip.

Roderick uses lance. It is called the Steady Lance.

He is a cavalry unit and rides on horseback. He is currently a member of the Order of Heroes.

There are four unit types: Armored, Cavalry, Flying, Infantry.

Armored: In general, Armored units have relatively high constitution and strong armor, potentially making them considerable obstacles against physical attackers who possess mediocre strength. Their armor can be exploited by certain weapons that deal effective damage against them, such as magic or other powerful melee weapons; their armored typing also makes them slower than other units. Cavalry: Fast units that attack while on horseback. They are very fast an can cover a lot of distance. Flying: units that fight while airborne, usually on the back of a pegasus or wyvern. They can fly over most obstacles. Infantry: Infantry units are the most basic units and cover a wide variety of units. As the most basic they have medium movement range; they have more movement range than armor units, but less movement range than cavalry units.

Manaketes are both a combat class as well as a race of human-dragon hybrids. Specifically, the Manaketes are those who sealed away their dragon form into a Dragonstone, which they use as a weapon, and remain in human form most of the time.
