She loves literally LOVES earnestness and thinks that "there's no time to hide emotions", which to her is a reminder of how she never got to say goodbye to her parents and can't remember them too well since Carmilla.

backstory: during the 1880s she grew up with normal poor family in a village, a mother who was a seamstress and a father who was a metalsmith, genuinely loved each other and cared. Though when she was 14 or so Carmilla saw Evelyn and kidnapped her, the reason was that Evelyn looked somewhat like Laura and Carmilla was NOT letting her lover go, after killing her parents violently, sucking on her mums blood, and mutilating her father's corpse, and discarding her father in their own basement, Carmilla dragged Evelyn to psychologically break her and turn her into her "perfect" daughter that she could never organically have (dead ovaries stay dead in Vampires), by the time Evelyn was 19/20, she was turned into a vampire against her will. She used this newborn strength and immortality to escape Carmilla and run off to America, where she went off to start scrambling and surviving on her own. By the 1920s she started in Speakeasies, singing and overall discovering her LESBIAN nature which was the ONLY thing she had in common with her mom. She fed off of animals and then, later on, only willing partners. She was "punk-rock" before the term even existed, and wanted to actively go against her "mother' (Carmilla's) teachings as a middle finger to the concept of cold elitist vampires and their inhumanity. She scraped through by the 50s, but soon enough by the 70s, she got even deeper into the music scene, where she found other, smaller "useless" or "classless" vampires to start making an immortal rock band called the Blodd-letts. They make their original music in the genre of goth-rock currently, and death metal at times also. They're not too famous, and they're liked wherever they go. just the way they like it

Also a lesbian. Hooks up with Evelyn sometimes as friends with benefits (no angst here)
