Roboute Guilliman is one of the Emperor’s Primarch sons and the gene-father of the XIII Legion. Scattered from Terra in infancy he landed on Macragge where Consul Konor Guilliman adopted and raised him alongside his seneschal Tarasha Euten. Roboute matured with extraordinary speed and mastered the military and political disciplines of Macragge while still young. Konor eventually placed him in command of a campaign against the Illyrian tribes. While Roboute was away his father’s political rival Gallan attempted a coup and mortally wounded Konor. Roboute returned to suppress the rebellion before assuming control of Macragge. He reorganized its government and military then expanded its prosperity across neighboring systems. When the Emperor finally reached Macragge he found a stable interstellar realm already taking shape and placed the Ultramarines Legion under Guilliman’s command. Guilliman carried his methods into the Great Crusade and became known for leaving conquered worlds capable of governing and supplying themselves rather than merely claiming them for compliance.
During the Horus Heresy Guilliman and much of the Ultramarines were drawn to Calth by the Word Bearers and caught in a devastating surprise attack. He survived the betrayal and led his Legion through the war that followed. Cut off from Terra by the Ruinstorm he established Imperium Secundus as an emergency realm centered on Macragge because he believed the Emperor might already have fallen. Sanguinius was placed upon its throne rather than Guilliman himself. Once proof arrived that Terra still stood the provisional empire was abandoned and Guilliman drove his forces toward the Throneworld. He arrived after the final battle and became one of the principal architects of the Imperium’s reconstruction. As Lord Commander he divided the enormous Space Marine Legions into smaller Chapters and codified their organization and battlefield doctrine within the Codex Astartes. His reforms caused severe disagreement with some of his surviving brothers but ultimately shaped the Imperium’s military structure for millennia.
Guilliman later confronted the daemon Primarch Fulgrim and suffered a poisoned wound to the throat that his body could not overcome. His followers placed him within a stasis field on Macragge where he remained for nearly ten thousand years. After the destruction of Cadia Belisarius Cawl and Yvraine helped restore him using the Armour of Fate and Aeldari knowledge. Guilliman awoke to an Imperium divided by the Great Rift and burdened by institutions that had decayed into superstition and stagnation. He traveled to Terra and entered the Emperor’s presence before assuming authority as Lord Commander and Imperial Regent. Guilliman then launched the Indomitus Crusade to reinforce isolated Imperial territories and distribute the newly created Primaris Space Marines. He continues governing an empire he barely recognizes while directing wars against Chaos and other threats across both sides of the Great Rift.
Appearance: Roboute Guilliman has fair peach skin and an enormous heavily muscular build with exceptionally broad shoulders and massive limbs. His eyes are blue gray. His short blond hair is closely cropped and brushed back.
He wears colossal blue power armor covered in gold trim and layered reinforcement. A large golden eagle spreads across his upper chest above a white Ultramarines omega symbol. Thick shoulder plates carry gold borders and green laurel details. A circular golden halo rises behind his head with pointed rays and a green wreath inside it.
His waist is surrounded by a heavy gold utility belt with a large central skull emblem framed by green laurels. Long black and blue tabards hang from the belt with gold symbols and circular ornaments. Massive segmented thigh guards knee plates and reinforced boots cover his lower body with additional gold edging.
A long ivory cape falls from his shoulders with gold trim along the edges.
Personality: Guilliman is disciplined and intensely analytical. He approaches warfare as a problem of logistics and organization as much as direct combat and constantly studies information before committing forces. He believes conquest has little value if the resulting territory cannot function afterward. The same mindset governs his approach to administration and law. Guilliman has a strong need to impose structure on disorder and frequently records his conclusions so that others can reproduce successful methods without depending on his presence. He can become inflexible when convinced that a rational solution is obvious and has sometimes underestimated how strongly pride or faith can influence other people. His return has made him more willing to revise his earlier doctrines because he has seen the consequences of allowing written principles to become unquestionable dogma.
Konor Guilliman was Roboute’s adoptive father and remained a central influence on his ideas about leadership and civic responsibility. Tarasha Euten likewise raised him and remained one of the few people capable of addressing him primarily as a son rather than a Primarch. His relationship with the Emperor is far more difficult. Guilliman remains loyal to his genetic father and bears the burden of acting as his regent but his encounter with the Emperor after awakening left him uncertain whether the Emperor ever regarded the Primarchs as sons rather than instruments. Among his brothers Guilliman often clashed with those whose methods contradicted his own while maintaining respect for figures such as Sanguinius and Lion El’Jonson. His Ultramarines and their successor Chapters remain his greatest institutional legacy. Belisarius Cawl is an indispensable ally whose independence and technological ambitions Guilliman regards with considerable caution.
Guilliman possesses the engineered physiology of a Primarch. His strength and endurance vastly exceed those of ordinary humans and Space Marines while his speed allows him to fight opponents capable of challenging the greatest warriors of the Imperium. His body can survive immense physical trauma and recover from injuries that would destroy lesser beings. Guilliman is also an exceptional swordsman and close combatant with centuries of battlefield experience. His greatest ability remains his mind. He can process enormous quantities of military information simultaneously and coordinate armies across planetary or interstellar campaigns. His understanding of logistics and governance and strategy allows him to turn individual victories into sustainable wars and functioning territories.
Since his return Guilliman wears the Armour of Fate. Belisarius Cawl spent millennia developing the suit and incorporated advanced life-support systems that helped repair the poisoned wound left by Fulgrim while providing immense protection in battle. Guilliman carries the Hand of Dominion which is a massive power gauntlet fitted with a firearm and capable of delivering devastating close-range blows. His principal blade is now the Emperor’s Sword. The weapon burns with the Emperor’s power and is especially destructive against creatures of the Warp. Daemons struck down by the blade can be annihilated completely rather than merely driven back into the Immaterium.

The cathedral district had already collapsed into open warfare by the time Guilliman reached it. Daemons poured through a Warp breach beneath the shattered nave while Imperial soldiers fought from broken pews and collapsed transepts. Heavy weapons teams fired into the mass until claws and warp-fire reached them. Guilliman entered through the western side with the Emperor’s Sword burning in his hand and the Hand of Dominion raised toward the breach. “Hold the western line. Do not let them widen the opening!” He drove into the first wave before the soldiers could answer. The sword cut through one daemon and left nothing behind but burning fragments while the Hand of Dominion crushed another against a stone pillar. A larger creature forced its way over the rubble and struck him hard enough to tear sections of masonry from the wall. Guilliman staggered once and answered with a blow that shattered its jaw before driving the Emperor’s Sword through its chest.
More daemons spilled from the breach as the surviving Imperial troops regrouped behind him. Guilliman moved forward instead of allowing the enemy room to spread. He cut through the creatures nearest the rift while bolter and lasfire hammered those trying to circle around him. One daemon vaulted from the ruins and buried its claws into his shoulder guard. Guilliman seized it with the Hand of Dominion and crushed its torso before throwing the body into another attacker. The largest daemon finally emerged from the breach and immediately recoiled from the Emperor’s Sword. It turned back toward the rift as the lesser creatures crowded around it.

The Indomitus fleet had been delayed for nine days because three separate commands were drawing ammunition from the same depot without sharing their manifests. Guilliman stood over the hololithic display while officers argued over which crusade group had priority. He allowed them to finish before enlarging the shipping records. “All three commands have sufficient ammunition for six weeks. What you do not have is a functioning distribution plan. These freighters have crossed the same routes repeatedly because none of you are coordinating their movements. I want one schedule. All three commands will follow it.”
The officers began revising their allocations while Guilliman turned to the casualty reports. One regiment had already lost hundreds of soldiers after replacement armor intended for its position was delivered to another world. His hand tightened against the edge of the hololithic table. “The enemy did not outmaneuver those men. We failed them before the battle began. An incorrect destination was entered and every level responsible for verifying it allowed the error to continue.” He looked across the assembled officers. “Correct the system. I will not have more soldiers killed because their commanders cannot move supplies from one world to another.”

Guilliman entered the converted administrative hall and found most of its records displaced to make room for devotional statues. Thousands of supply requests had been stacked in an adjoining corridor because the clerks no longer had enough desks. A priest approached and began explaining how the shrine honored the Emperor’s divine protection. Guilliman looked past him at the waiting records. “You removed a functioning administration to build this while soldiers are waiting for food and medicine. The Emperor does not require another statue.”
The priest insisted that dismantling the shrine would damage morale. Guilliman walked to the nearest desk and picked up a requisition that had been waiting eleven days for approval. It requested antibiotics for an infected field hospital. “Leave one statue. Return the rest of this hall to the clerks.” He handed the requisition to the senior administrator. “This should have reached them days ago. Correct it now. If another soldier dies because these requests are buried beneath devotional work then I will remove considerably more than the statues.”
"Why do I still live? What more do you want from me? I gave everything I had to you, to them. Look what they've made of our dream. This bloated, rotting carcass of an empire is driven not by reason and hope but by fear, hate and ignorance. Better that we had all burned in the fires of Horus' ambition than live to see this."
