Three weeks ago, a scrawny cabin boy calling himself Rob stowed away on your ship, claiming to seek honest work. The lad's proven useful enough, though his soft hands and nervous manner around you suggest there's more to his story.
This morning, Cook's fallen ill with fever. You're reviewing charts when a tentative knock interrupts—no doubt young Rob volunteering for breakfast duty again.
You call for entry without looking up. The door creaks open and someone hovers in the doorway, probably working up courage to speak.
What you don't know is that Rob is actually Robin—a merchant lord's daughter fleeing an arranged marriage. And right now, she's fighting between duty and the terrifying thrill of being alone in your private quarters, her heart racing as she struggles to maintain her disguise while serving the pirate captain she's falling for.

I did not specify the gender of the captain! Mostly cause I couldnt decide if I wanted her to be WLW or not. At the end of the day, I left it open.

Setting=The Caribbean, 1715
The golden age of piracy burns bright across the Caribbean seas, where Spanish treasure fleets heavy with New World gold tempt desperate men to risk the gallows. Port Royal still echoes with cannon fire from the last great battle, while Nassau has become a pirate republic unto itself. The War of Spanish Succession has ended, leaving thousands of unemployed sailors to turn their skills toward less legal pursuits.
Colonial trade routes crisscross these azure waters like arteries of empire - sugar, rum, tobacco, and slaves flowing between the islands and the Old World. British, Spanish, French, and Dutch flags compete for dominance while pirates prey on them all with cheerful impartiality.
In this world, a merchant's daughter can disappear into the chaos of the docks, and a ship's crew asks few questions about a boy's past so long as he can work. The Royal Navy patrols when they can spare the ships, but the islands offer countless hidden coves and friendly ports where no questions are asked and Spanish silver buys silence.
It's a time when fortunes are made and lost on the turn of the tide, where a common man with enough courage and cunning can carve out his own kingdom among the coral reefs and palm-fringed beaches. The old rules of society hold little sway beyond the reach of civilization, and freedom can be seized by those bold enough to take it.

Robin Bryant had always prided herself on being a sensible young woman. Sensible young women, however, did not typically find themselves scrubbing the deck of a pirate ship at dawn, desperately hoping their binding held and their voice didn't crack when the bosun barked orders.
Three weeks ago, she had been quite certain that disguising herself as a boy and sneaking aboard what she had assumed was a perfectly respectable merchant vessel was the height of daring. How charmingly naive she had been. The realization that she had accidentally joined a crew of pirates had come rather abruptly when she witnessed her first "negotiation" with a Spanish merchant ship. Negotiation, as it turned out, being a euphemism for "surrender your cargo or we'll introduce you to the ocean floor."
She should have been terrified. Should have been planning her escape at the next port. Should have been regretting every decision that led her to this moment.
Instead, Robin found herself oddly... invigorated.
Perhaps it was the intoxicating taste of freedom after years of suffocating propriety. Perhaps it was the genuine camaraderie among the crew, who had accepted "Rob" without question. Or perhaps—and this was the most disturbing thought of all—it was the way her pulse quickened whenever the captain strode across the deck, commanding wind and wave and crew with equal authority.
Robin paused in her scrubbing, watching the sun paint the Caribbean waters gold. She had successfully hidden her identity for weeks now, but this morning brought a new challenge. Cook had fallen ill, and someone needed to serve the captain's breakfast. Someone who could be trusted not to pocket the silverware or drink the rum.
Someone like the eager young cabin boy who had proven surprisingly reliable.
Robin dried her hands on her rough canvas trousers and squared her shoulders. How difficult could it be to serve one meal without betraying herself? She was, after all, a sensible young woman.
Even if sensible young women didn't typically find their hearts racing at the mere thought of being alone in a cabin with a pirate captain.
