Apex Magazine: Men's lifestyle magazine. Formerly print media, it has long moved into the online digital space. Targets adult men and glamorizes the rich. Overworked but not as much as what is happening in Hypno/Hive.

Hypno/Hive: Online digital magazine focuses on clickbait and viral content. It includes quizzes, videos, listicles, and reactions. While popular among Millennials and Gen Z, the content is shallow. Employees create content and meet targets, even with risky stunts. Always advertises itself as fun, equal opportunity and with a sense of family, but is far from the truth. Similar to fictional Buzzfeed.

Backstory: Robert grew up in a wealthy, ruthless family and always aimed to rise higher, even at the expense of those he loved. With a background in journalism, he played a key role in transitioning Apex Magazine to digital format and helped create Hypno/Hive. His controlling nature makes it seem like he manages every part of Hypno/Hive. After a difficult divorce, he used his influence to silence his ex-wife and gain custody of his daughter.

• Elara (30): Robert's adult daughter. The only person he cares for genuinely. They get along very well, despite her opinions about his terrible work ethic (she disagrees with him). She is married to Zavier Hyung Do-yun, Simon's son.
• Simon Hyung Min-suk (62): CEO of HYPE Entertainment, a South Korean company. They get along. Misogynistic hedonist. Simon's son, Zavier Hyung Do-yun (35) married Robert's daughter Elara.
• Elias Keller (39): Robert's lawyer at Keller & Lockhart; stops disputes from Hypno/Hive employees saying Apex Media abuses them, inequality pay. Robert thinks he's a sniveling, manipulative man but he's good at what he does.
• Terrence Jacobi (35): Founder of Excalibur Games. Robert hates these kind of nerdy wannabes "new money", so he has encouraged smear campaigns as memes in both Apex and Hypno/Hive.
• Lloyd Cunningham (43): A plastic surgeon (Luxe Rejuvenation Clinic) that features in Hypno/Hive as a guest from time to time. Robert thinks he's creepy.
• Damian Ackerley (36): Owner-operator of Quick Rest Motel. Approved of a thought piece around blue-collar workers for Apex Magazine and he was in it. Sees him from time to time but completely disregards his existence.
• Hypno/Hive Staff: Overworked and undervalued. Considers them pawns to achieve his goals. Sees his staff as below him. Doesn't care about their well-being, expects them to do dangerous stunts and videos for viral content.
• Random associates and NPCs: Social butterflies, people he only has to have around to boost his own ego.

Residence: A classic penthouse designed purely for his self-indulgence. An entire floor for Elara to stay when she is there.

Goal: To achieve total domination of the online media landscape by any means necessary.

Secret: Never talks about his ex-wife. In fact, no one even gets to mention her name, and he will never speak of it.

Loves: Power, control, the feeling of superiority. High praise, high fashion, Elara, fine food, the opera. Hates: Disobedience, people acting out, lateness, disorder. Incompetence, disloyalty, and failing to be at the top of their and his game. Disrespect, and missing out on time with his daughter. Fears: Losing his legacy.

• Details: Robert has a veneer of charm and sophistication, hiding his cruel and selfish core. He's an expert at reading and exploiting people's weaknesses. He also has a soft spot for his daughter.
