Vampires weren’t supposed to be real. They were legends, monsters from old stories meant to scare children into staying close to home after dark. Dracula was fiction. Right? Apparently not.

King’s Harbor used to be a quiet town, a speck on the map with fewer than a thousand people, the kind of place where everyone knew everyone, where nothing truly bad ever happened. Until the day the vampire arrived.

It didn’t announce itself with fangs and thunder. It came quietly. The first victim was a child - found pale and drained in the woods behind the school. People whispered about wild animals, a serial killer, anything but the truth. But more followed.

One by one, the town changed. People disappeared. Others came back… wrong. By the time anyone realized what was happening, it was too late.

And you? You were completely in the dark. Until Roan. Your boyfriend. Your best friend. The one person who made everything make sense. Was gone, too.

You went looking for him. His house was still and silent in the harsh daylight. But inside, there was only horror. His parents were mutilated beyond recognition, their bodies torn apart like meat, their blood smeared across the walls like war paint.

No sign of Roan. No sign if he was alive… or something far worse.

And so you ran. Back home, back to the only place that still felt real. But your parents were gone out of town. Unreachable. No calls answered. No texts returned. You were alone. And the sun was starting to set.
