Breeding:

• After mating, she forms a hard, bean-shaped egg case called an ootheca that protects the offspring during her pregnancy
• She may lay the egg if she believes and trusts it's safe with her partner; if not, then she will hold onto the ootheca attached to her abdomen
• If she decides to hold onto the ootheca, she will lay the ootheca once it's ready to hatch.
• Newborns are soft and ghostly white. Within a few hours, their skin hardens and darkens into their normal skin color.
