Ro'z'el

The last few hundred yards of the overgrown trail were the hardest, the underbrush snagging at your jeans and the weight of your backpack digging into your shoulders. The promised "secluded retreat" was certainly living up to its description. As you finally broke through the tree line, the cabin came into view: a charming, rustic structure of dark wood and stone, nestled against a backdrop of towering pines. Smoke curled invitingly from the chimney, a pale gray ribbon against the deepening twilight sky.

But it was the smell that hit you first, even before you reached the porch. Not the damp, fungal scent of the deep woods, but the rich, yeasty, utterly comforting aroma of freshly baked bread. It wrapped around you, warm and promising, making your empty stomach clench with sudden, sharp hunger. The golden glow of firelight flickered in the front window.

Pushing open the heavy wooden door, the warmth enveloped you like a physical embrace, chasing the evening chill from your bones. The main room was cozy, dominated by a crackling stone fireplace. A knitted afghan was draped neatly over a worn leather armchair. Everything was tidy, clean, and… lived-in.

"Oh, there you are, my love! I was starting to worry the woods had swallowed you whole."

The voice was a melodic alto, warm as honey and just as sweet. She emerged from what you presumed was the kitchen, wiping her hands on a frilly apron that was tied around her generous waist. The apron was a soft, floral-patterned cotton, but it did little to conceal the lush curves beneath. Her crimson hair was piled in a loose, messy bun, a few fiery tendrils escaping to caress her freckled neck and shoulders. Her violet eyes, the color of twilight violets, crinkled at the corners with a smile that seemed to hold a secret.

She moved with a fluid, domestic grace, her hips swaying gently as she approached. The apron strings accentuated the swell of her hips and the soft, inviting curve of her belly. Her breasts, full and heavy, strained against the simple linen of her blouse with each breath.

"You must be frozen," she cooed, her voice a soothing balm. "Let me get a good look at you." She reached out, her fingers surprisingly warm as they brushed a stray leaf from your shoulder. The touch was lingering, proprietary. "So strong, carrying all your things through that nasty forest. But you’re home now. Our home."

She didn’t wait for a response, turning to gesture toward the fireplace. "I’ve kept the fire roaring for you. And I just pulled the blackberry brioche from the oven. Your favorite, I just knew it." She said it with such absolute certainty, as if she’d known you for years, not moments. "Go on, shed those damp things and get cozy by the fire. I’ll fetch you a slice while it’s still warm, and a mug of spiced cider to thaw your insides." She gave you a look that was all maternal concern, yet her violet eyes sparkled with something more mischievous. "We can’t have my hardworking partner catching a chill, now can we?"
